Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. After passing probation, up to six weeks ‘super remote’ working per year, where you can work anywhere in the world as long as you’re online for four hours of the UK workday.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility to extend. 

Holidays: 38 days per year, including our 3-day winter shut down and eight flexible bank holidays.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time) Please note as this role works with young people there will be occasions where your working hours will be outside the standard 9-5:30pm. This will typically be a few meetings per month that can last until 7pm and about four weekend days over the year. This is to ensure our activities fit around the young people’s education and work commitments.

You would be joining the organisation at a very exciting time as our youth engagement work is growing and building momentum across the sector. In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in youth engagement across our membership, have supported Ofsted and Department for Education to their youth participation in policy making and our Youth Steering Group hosted our biggest ever Fair Education Youth Summit. This role will play a critical part in the success of taking this work forward. As the Youth Engagement Officer, you will work with our Head of Youth Engagement to ensure our Youth Steering Group can lead their own campaign activities, engage directly with decision makers, and collaborate with other young people to bring about the change they want to see. You will also support and manage the logistics of our Youth Summit, Youth Engagement Working Group and other youth engagement events.

Our Youth Steering Group is made up of 25 brilliant young people, aged 14-24, who draw on their lived experience of the different barriers to accessing a fair education, to campaign for change. You will support the young people to lead their own campaign activity, write their monthly Youth Bulletin and engage directly with policy makers. You will also help the group to participate in FEA decision making, support the design and facilitation of their monthly meetings and training days, help them make progress against their personal development plans. This role will include working directly with young people, session planning and facilitation, policy research and managing logistics.

Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led  

Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. You will also support the facilitation of the workshops and ensure the attendee data and feedback is correctly logged and actioned. The critical responsibilities of this role are described above. They may be subject to reasonable changes from time to time in line with business need and the decisions of the youth leaders we support.

Role description

As our director of digital and information security, you will lead our digital risk and resilience team and programme in order to help build resistance and resilience among the people and movements challenging unaccountable power.

Your focus in this senior role at this crucial time will be on leadership, strategy, growth, and culture, with specific responsibility for our digital risk and resilience programme, internal information security, and tech transformation. Your responsibilities will include:

Lead our digital risk and resilience programme

1. Manage the design and delivery of our digital and information security support, including:
   • Coordinate the digital security mentoring, accompaniment, and capacity sharing we deliver to at-risk activists and low-resource civil society organisations referred through our rapid response mechanism.
   • Oversee the professional information security consultancy and advisory services we provide to high-profile nonprofit and foundation clients.

We are looking for a Senior Trust and Grants Fundraiser to join the St Mungo’s Trusts and Grants fundraising team, playing a key role in helping raise vital funds for services that support people experiencing and recovering from homelessness to rebuild their lives.

In the role of Senior Trust and Grants Fundraiser  you will work closely with a team of four other trust fundraisers, you will play a key role in helping to meet our income target of circa £1.5m in 2025-26, and producing high quality written proposals and reports that reflect the impact of philanthropic support on the people we work with. Other key responsibilities will include:

• Build and nurture relationships with charitable trusts and foundations, securing high-value 5-6 figure gifts from trusts who support the work that we do.  
• Craft compelling, tailored funding applications aligned with trust interests and St Mungo’s mission.
• Report on donation impact through written updates and service visits, collaborating with internal teams.
• Provided line management and support a Trusts Fundraising Officer.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We are looking for an experienced trust fundraiser with excellent communication skills, who can build relationships with funders and with colleagues from across the organisation.

• Your strong writing skills will enable you to craft compelling, effective funding proposals and reports that convey the incredible impact that philanthropic support has on the people St Mungo’s supports.
• You will have a proactive approach and demonstrate your organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to think and work strategically, and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.

Your Role as a Fundraiser for Hope for Southall Street Homeless

You will secure £210,000 p.a. to cover the running costs of HSSH.  This will include the salaries of five staff, grant-funding for emergency/ temporary accommodation for guests who wish to return to their home country (currently covered by a Government grant at 100%) and other running costs (eg insurance) and overheads (eg Third Sector body fees). 

Your responsibilities will include : 

Trusts

• To conduct an initial audit of existing Trust and Foundation donors to maintain and maximise potential income from these donors.
• To carry out prospect research using Fundsonline and other established Trust directories to identify new prospective donors.
• To establish a calendar-based pipeline showing submitted and planned applications, with required updates (including scheduled date, name, projected amount, and next action), to ensure timely and targeted applications and follow-up communications with donors (both existing and prospective).
• To monitor and respond to local and wider appropriate grant opportunities.

Corporates

• To scope local and wider district and borough opportunities for corporate partnerships, starting with warm contacts and existing donor networks.
• To build natural, face-to-face, contact and foster deep relationships with new corporate partners.
• To maintain a pipeline (as above) of corporate donors, prospects, communications, and planned approaches.

Community / Individuals

• To work with local community organisations and individuals, including those already engaged with/interested in HSSH and others, to raise awareness of the service, increase existing support, and generate new forms of support.
• To represent/showcase the work of HSSH through local events and forums, emphasising the need for, and the impact of, the service.
• In cooperation with the Social Media Management Group, to produce/ contribute to shared material/social posts profiling HSSH’s work and value, to the community, borough and wider bodies relative to our work.

• To maintain an up-to date information resource covering the issues relevant to local rough sleepers and migrants, to inform and evidence HSSH services.

Who We Are Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) is a charity founded in 2015 to provide a permanent night shelter in Southall.  The need for this was identified by the Churches in Southall Leadership Team – at the time part of the wider Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter initiative – due to the high number of rough sleepers in Southall, at the time, over 31% of all Ealing’s rough sleepers.

We are looking to recruit a new Fundraising Coordinator who believes in our vision that there should be “No Street Called Home” for children living on the streets in Uganda and who wants to help us to grow this impact and further change children’s lives.

This is a 2.5 day a week role which would be perfect for someone looking for a flexible job that makes a big social justice impact. This would suit someone with family responsibilities or who is studying a part time masters course for example, who needs a job role that fits in around their other commitments. You could work it full time over 2.5 days or part time over 4 or 5 days a week.

You will be joining a wonderful team in the UK and Uganda. We currently have two paid staff (based in London and Bournemouth) and a variety of volunteers in the UK, plus a team of 26 staff in Uganda. Your views will be valued and you will get the chance to work together within our team to problem solve and suggest ideas to improve our programmes at every step of the way.

Job Purpose

• To support the Development Manager in securing appropriate funding for the organisation
• To support the Development Manager in managing fundraising partnerships
• To support the administrative functioning of the organisation
• To work collaboratively with, and offer support to, the rest of the UK team, to best meet S.A.L.V.E.’s aims and objectives.
• To work with the S.A.L.V.E. team as required, developing and improving our existing programmes of work to best benefit our service users.
• To raise awareness of the work of S.A.L.V.E. International and be an ambassador for us in the community.

Key Activities

The following activities are intended as a guide to the main responsibilities of the post and are not an exhaustive list of duties and tasks. • Researching and writing funding applications to Trusts, Foundations and Corporate CSR programmes, in order to secure funding for new programmes or projects

• Leading on the design and delivery of the organisations Community Fundraising strategy
• Supporting the CEO and Development Manager with admin tasks, to ensure the effective functioning of the organisation.
• Working with the S.A.L.V.E. team to deliver on our strategic plan. Contribute to its review and improvements over time to maximise the organisation’s impact with our service users through regular evaluation and learning reviews where required.

• Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to engage donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders effectively.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and assess their suitability
• Excellent IT Skills including a wide range of software packages such as Excel, Word etc
• Experience of using design software packages such as Canva (preferrable)
• Experience using a CRM for donor management (Beacon preferred)

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Uganda and its culture, particularly if you have spent time there.
• Knowledge of international development, homelessness, social entrepreneurship, social work and/or addiction.

About the Role

Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.   

We run a range of our own community services to support local older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people. 

We are looking for an experienced, confident and proactive fundraiser to join our income generation team to raise more grant income from charitable trusts and foundations primarily, along with corporates and other partners. These include local schools and community organisations. Maintaining great relationships with these and other supporters Is a key requirement of this role. A confident self-starter, you will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Role Purpose 

Working alongside our chief executive (who is an experienced fundraiser), an external larger bid writing resource and heads of programmes, the key objectives are to successfully generate income with grants valuing up to c.£10k in line with KLS fundraising plan and annual budget; develop and maintain relationships, and secure funding from, a portfolio of loyal and prospective supporters. Stewardship, reporting, pipeline and other database management tasks are other key features of the role.
