CONTEXT OF THIS ROLE:
At Purposeful, communications is political. It is how we amplify girls’ voices, sharpen feminist narratives, and push back against regressive agendas. The Communications Director will sit at the heart of this work - shaping and delivering a bold communications strategy aligned with Purposeful’s vision, mission, and growth.
This role leads the stewardship of Purposeful’s voice, visual identity, and storytelling practice, ensuring that everything we produce - whether op-eds, reports, campaigns, or digital content - carries our politics with clarity and conviction. The Communications Director will work closely with the Co-CEOs and across all Purposeful teams, including Advocacy, grant-making, Learning & Insights, Programmes, and Resource Mobilisation, to amplify girls’ organising, showcase our impact, and influence the broader philanthropic and activist ecosystem.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, requiring a deep commitment to feminist movements, an instinct for storytelling as political practice, and a proven track record of positioning organisations on the global stage.
SCOPE OF WORK
1. Communications Strategy & Leadership

Lead on delivery and implementation of a new communications strategy, building on 2025 planning foundations.

Work closely with the Co-CEOs and director team to horizon scan and adapt strategy in response to organisational vision and external landscape.

Provide leadership to a small team of staff and consultants (designers, digital specialists, artists) and work collaboratively with partner communications leads on joint campaigns and initiatives.

Meticulously manage and forecast the communications and editorial budget, ensuring value for money and strong planning.

Track and analyse content performance, using insights to refine reach and engagement.
2. Storytelling & Content Development

Oversee the creation of compelling storytelling content that highlights Purposeful’s impact, amplifies girls’ and young feminists’ voices, and influences funders.

Lead editorial planning and content workflows, balancing evergreen storytelling with crisis-response or time-sensitive outputs.

Oversee production and capture of content from live and digital events (webinars, IG Lives, panels, etc.).

Coordinate brand refresh projects, including a website refresh, and strengthen Purposeful’s digital visibility with a focus on graphic-led content across social platforms.
3. Writing & Editorial Oversight

Review and edit all external content to ensure quality, editorial standard, and alignment with Purposeful’s voice and values.

Write op-eds, blogs, social media posts, campaign messaging, press materials, and executive summaries.

Collaborate with colleagues in Learning & Insights to integrate data into storytelling and publications.

Edit and manage the production of publications and reports, commissioning artists and graphic designers as needed.

4. Media Engagement & Positioning

The Egg Theatre is seeking maternity cover for our Egg Development Manager.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Fundraising
- Develop and review Egg and Engagement fundraising strategies with Egg Director, Head of Engagement and Head of Development.

- Lead on the stewardship of existing funders, managing the reporting relationship.

Communications

Data and Impact

The Senior People & Culture Associate for Contracts provides administrative support across a variety of functions supporting the recruitment, hiring and consultant lifecycle of Internews Europe (UK) and Internews International (France) Personal Services Contractors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:
· Draft personal services contracts and modifications for both Internews Europe and Internews International

ActionAid UK (AAUK) is a complex, values- driven organisation which is implementing an exciting new 2025-2028 strategy with one overarching goal:

A priority is to change the way we currently approach monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) at an organisational level, looking specifically at how we assess change and impact across our yearly organisational plans and within the four-year strategy.
AAUK is seeking a qualified consultant or a company to collaboratively design, develop and deliver a new approach to capturing change and impact at ActionAid UK, moving the organisation away from traditional types of metrics and methods.
We are looking for you to conduct a light-touch review of our current organisational methods and tools and develop a new organisational transformative change framework, training workshop and action plan. We would like this consultancy to:
- Develop an approach to capturing transformative change and impact over time which captures gradual/incremental or exponential changes.
- Capture systematic changes and shifts in thinking and behaviour/culture
- Enable staff to feel confident to gather and interpret evidence of change alongside diverse experiences including their own
- Enable AAUK to capture collective contributions to change, recognising that no single action or individual makes change happen.
- Help us use the information we gather to inform and improve our work and better understand our unique role within the complex ecosystem of organisations and partnerships in which we work.
Objectives of the assignment
- Review and support the transformation of our organisational monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning processes to align with our new strategy and decolonial approach.
- Develop an organisational transformative change framework/toolkit and action plan, enabling staff to confidently capture impact over time and foster a culture of innovation, learning and accountability across the organisation.
Deliverables
The consultant / firm will work in collaboration with colleagues from AAUK Leadership and Transformation teams to:
- Create a plan and methodology that is aligned to our strategic objectives, decolonial approach and transformation activities.
- Conduct a light-touch process review, including desk research and conversations with key members of staff – to understand our current organisational monitoring and reporting processes, methods and tools.
- Develop a new Transformative Change organisational framework/toolkit which includes methods and tools for measuring change at organisational and team level and establishes a baseline from which we can improve and which captures both successes and challenges.
- Develop a staff training workshop on the new framework and tools.
- Provide a workplan with future recommendations and actions.

The purpose of this consultancy is to support phase 1 – the conduct of document analysis and write-up, as the first component of study activities for the Zimbabwe Eye Health Systems Assessment. This will be guided by a stand-alone activity plan to be developed by the consultant in consultation with Sightsavers.
Duration of Project
The consultant will work 10 days over a one month period. The work will be conducted in Zimbabwe.
A total fee of USD 2,000.00 for phase 1 will be paid to the consultant on satisfactory completion of the written report accepted by the Sightsavers technical team. Sightsavers will cover cost of software (if required) as well as internet connection for the consultant to access documents but not the cost of travel to and from different offices in Harare to locate grey literature. - A proven track record as a researcher with substantial experience leading and conducting Health Systems Research studies in Zimbabwe.
- Ideally a Master's in a discipline related to public health, health economics, social or behavioural science, or relevant fields, with expertise in Health Systems Research. PhD preferred.
- Experience of eye health and related epidemiology and research ideally.
- Proven ability to build trust and effectively engage with stakeholders in the eye health sector to access necessary documents and data for timely project completion.

About the role
Reporting in to the Head of Partnerships & Impact Funding, the role of Partnerships and Business Development Lead is responsible for strategic leadership in developing and nurturing institutional funding partnerships (Government, Multi-lateral, Trusts & Foundations,
Corporates) at the global level, to create and manage compelling pipelines to mobilise income and resources for Christian Aid's programming worldwide.

About you

Essential:
- Proven track record in directly securing multi-million-pound contracts or grants from institutional, trusts and foundations, and corporate donors.
- Substantial experience in building and cultivating strategic donor partnerships including engagement at global, regional and country mission levels with senior stakeholders and demonstrable experience of engaging.
- Extensive management experience overseeing high-performing teams directly and remotely.
- Extensive experience of leading multiple bid teams to successful outcomes.
- Advanced negotiation skills at senior levels within HQ’s, regional offices, or missions.
- Detailed understanding of institutional, corporate and trusts and foundations donor funding landscapes and trends.
- Advanced understanding in interpretation and negotiation of government and foundation grant and contract calls for proposals and contract and compliance agreements and frameworks.
