Based in the Reception of the Main Gallery, you will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Gallery, giving a warm welcome, assisting with enquiries and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience. You will also support the day to day running of the Gallery, dealing with administrative duties and supporting the Gallery Shop, sharing product information with visitors and taking sales.
Tasks and Responsibilities

We will provide training and an induction which covers all aspects of the role. On-going support and supervision will be provided by staff throughout your time with us. Availability
The gallery is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm, with two volunteer shifts a day, 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 5pm.
We ask for a minimum commitment of one shift every fortnight, although there is flexibility over scheduling.
Location
This role is based at Orleans House Gallery in the Main Gallery building.
Expenses
We will cover travel expenses up to £14 per day.

The befriending service will be provided through 2 different strands which aim to support older people in different ways based on the needs identified via an assessment.
Clients will enter the strand that is most appropriate to their needs.

Strand A: We will offer a local face-to-face service of up to 1 hour for 26 weeks. Strand A provision would be appropriate for older people who have experienced a recent life event, such as a hospital admission, bereavement or home move and who need time limited support and guidance to connect with suitable services and activities.

Strands B: We will offer ongoing support either face-to- face of up to 1hour or by telephone between 30 minutes and 1 hour. Strand B provision is for older people leaving Strand A that require long term support or for those who are identified as needing ongoing face-to-face or local telephone befriending support on entry to theprogramme.
Purpose of Role

Arrange and carry out assessment for new service users within the befriending service using the Guided Conversation approach, in order to gather appropriate information about the older person, their needs, and what a befriender will be expected (and not expected) to do.

Ensure that the person wants a befriender, has given consent, confidentiality has been discussed, and the person is able and willing to join the service.
-
Ensure that volunteers and service users are well-matched and that the service runs safely, effectively, and in line with organisational standards.
Key Tasks

Carry out a needs assessment for new service users referred to the befriending service. It could be a telephone-based discussion or review of a referral form or a home visit.

Gather key information such as visit preferences, activity interests, potential risks, and any unmet needs.

Complete assessment forms and input information into the online database

Refer service users to other services where appropriate

Match service users with suitable volunteer befrienders
-
Introduce befriender and service user, and carry out a 6-week review with both parties

Maintain accurate records and liaise with staff throughout the process

In this role you’ll be representing Shelter at local events and functions, speaking about our work and encouraging more people to support our movement for change. You’ll also promote our local Shelter services and our campaigning work to tackle the root causes of the housing emergency.

Main activities may include:

This role fights the housing emergency by raising funds that enable Shelter to provide advice and support and campaigning for change. The events you’ll be attending are also great for raising awareness of the housing emergency and how people can get involved to help tackle it.

999 Club IS RECRUITING NEW TRUSTEES!
999 Club is a charity doing big things with people facing homelessness. For over 30 years, we've provided a safe haven in the heart of Deptford — offering hot meals, showers, practical support, and a pathway out of homelessness for good.
We're now looking for up to three new trustees to help guide our growing organisation as we develop our new 5-year strategy.
We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:
· Fundraising – An ability to use your networks or knowledge to champion our cause and unlock new opportunities.
· Charity Finance – provide strategic financial oversight and potentially chair our Finance Committee.
· Property or Facilities Management – Help oversee the management and potential development of our buildings
What to expect:
As a trustee, you’ll gain leadership experience, broaden your network, and play a hands-on role in tackling homelessness and improving the mental wellbeing of our community. This is a voluntary role involving four board meetings a year (a mix of in-person and virtual), plus occasional events, emails, and committee work. Reasonable expenses are covered.

Each year, we care for around 3,000 people with terminal illness, as well as their families.
