About Amala:

Amala’s mission is to use the power of education to transform the lives of young refugees, their communities and the world. We have developed the first, internationally accredited, upper secondary level programme for out of school refugees and crisis affected youth, and currently reach approximately 1400 students a year. As demand for our education programmes continues to grow, and in line with our 2024-2027 strategic plan, we aim to triple the number of young people we serve, reaching at least 5,800 students per year by 2027. Our bold vision is that millions of refugee youth have access to transformative education by 2040. 

Our team is fully remote, with our Global Team based in the UK, Canada, Singapore and Greece. We also have two learning centres, one in Amman, Jordan and one in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya and work with a growing list of partners across Kenya, Uganda and Malaysia. 

The Opportunity:

This is where this new role comes in: The Head of Fundraising will play a crucial role in supporting the stewardship of the current donors while also securing the vital resources needed to realise our bold ambition and help us transform the lives of millions of young refugees and conflict affected youth across the globe.

You will be part of leading a growing and changing organisation, and will work closely with Amala’s two Co-founders and the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy, cultivate and deepen key donor relationships and boost our income growth from our current £800k towards our £3 million target by 2027, driving the financial sustainability necessary for Amala’s continued growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

Who we are looking for:

A strategic, entrepreneurial and ambitious senior fundraiser with a proven track record of securing significant UK and international funding (£1m+ annual income generation), developing high-impact strategies, and building strong donor relationships. You will be an inspiring leader with exceptional people management skills, with experience in leading growing organisations, and who enjoys the strategic side of the role as well as having a hands on approach. 

The role would be best suited to someone who is committed to making a difference to the lives of young refugees, with a strong grounding in international charity sector fundraising. and international funding.

Essential experience:

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising management role within the non-profit sector, ideally within international development.

• A proven track record of success in fundraising, particularly in developing and executing complex fundraising strategies for a growing non-profit organisation.

• Experience developing and implementing multi-year income generation plans.

• A strong history of securing six-figure, multi-year grants and contracts in the UK and internationally, with an annual income generation of £1m+.

• Senior-level experience managing relationships with multiple, diverse funders and donors.

• Experience writing successful partnership bids, grant proposals, cases for support, and theories of change.

• Experience in leading change in a growing organisation.

• At least three years of experience leading and managing a team, with a track record of developing and supporting staff.

What we offer:

This full time, fully remote position offers a salary of £50,000-55,000 if you are a UK resident. If you reside in a different location, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. You will work closely with a driven, collaborative, entrepreneurial and supportive team from around the world, and you are required to be in a time zone GMT +/- 3 hours.

General Overview of Role

The post-holder will be responsible for writing bid applications within Combat Stress. This will include:

• Support the development and delivery of Combat Stress's bid writing under the leadership of the Director of Fundraising (DoF) and Head of Trusts and Foundations (HTF), in order to support our role as a specialist UK-wide provider of mental health services to veterans with complex mental health needs.
• With guidance and support from DoF and HoTF contribute to the various stages of a bid or tender process.
• Support the team in managing service contracts.
• Ensure compliance with the business development framework and governance processes - with support from DoF and HoTF.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Complete bid writing in support of the business development agenda of Combat Stress, working with all departments in promoting our services to attract new business and supporting cost-effective service delivery.
• Contribute to our revenue generation agenda by owning and contributing to bid documents such as mobilisation or communication plans.
• Support the assessment of the healthcare market within which we operate, to ensure we are best placed to achieve growth and have the appropriate strategies to mitigate risks
• Support the development, monitoring and delivery of business developments plans, systems and processes in line with our strategy and targets
• Work across departments in order to adhere to the full service specification of the bid or tender.
• Work with the DoF to develop existing partnership arrangements and to develop the case to support new service and business partnerships, commercial ventures, and creative contract solutions to further our strategic aims.
• Manage the "bid/no bid" process to lead our responses to ITTs, lead on bid writing and project management of bid submissions
• Produce reports and proposals, including spreadsheets, involve bids for additional funding from commissioners.
• Review and refine all business development processes and templates to maintain "fit for purpose"

Contract Management

• Assist with the development, monitoring, management, and review of contracts.

Communication

• Contribute to the communication strategy within and external to the Charity
• Support the team on any other projects as requested by the DoF

General responsibilities

• Ensure data collection in general is kept up to date, in accordance with legislation and the policies of the Charity, and incident reports are completed in accordance with the policies of the Charity.

About the role

You will be responsible for the organisation's digital infrastructure, data strategy and accuracy, and user experience. This role ensures the organisation has the right tools and capabilities to operate efficiently and effectively, and leads on data governance and utilisation to drive strategic decision-making. This role will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure alignment between digital strategy and brand messaging, and with all colleagues to empower them to utilise digital and data effectively in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Digital and Data Empowerment:

· Lead the development and implementation of strategies, training, and resources to enable colleagues across all departments to effectively utilise digital tools and data insights in their work.

· Foster a data-driven culture and supporting the organisation through a period of change.

· Develop and deliver practical training sessions and resources on digital platforms and data analysis.

· Provide leadership and guidance to teams on how to integrate digital and data into workflows.

• • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement in digital and data practices.
  • Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and ensuring buy-in for digital and data initiatives.
• Digital Infrastructure & Tech Stack:
  • Oversee the effective product management and use of tools and platforms of all digital communications channels, including CRM, website, email marketing, and social media.
  • Own and manage the organisation's tech stack, ensuring it supports current and future needs.
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of CRM, website functionality, email marketing systems and social media platform integration.
  • Oversee the improvement of user journeys across all communications channels ,taking a user-led approach.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and research in digital communications, technology and ways of working; making evidence-based recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Data Strategy & Governance:
  • Maximize the use of data across platforms to provide user insight and learning that measures impact and supports strategic decision-making.
  • Lead the team to provide data and insights in a timely manner.
  • Ensure data is used effectively for audience segmentation and targeting.
  • Lead on data governance, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
• User Experience (UX) & Design:
  • Lead on user experience and design, ensuring digital platforms are user-friendly and accessible.
  • Oversee continuous improvements in search engine optimisation and accessibility.

Digital Development:

· Manage digital development projects, including website updates and new platform implementations.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for someone who can step confidently into the role and deliver at pace. You will have:

· Significant experience in developing and implementing digital strategies across multiple channels (website, email, social media).

· Significant experience in leading and managing digital platforms, including website CMS, CRM, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.

· Proven experience in developing and implementing data strategies, including data governance, analysis, and reporting.

· Demonstrable experience in improving user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) on digital platforms

· Experience of managing digital development projects and working with technical suppliers.

· Thorough knowledge of digital marketing best practices, trends, and technologies.

· Knowledge of website development processes and technologies

· Knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, PECR).

· Ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences.

· Developed project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to deadlines

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.

· Developed strategic thinking skills with the ability to contribute to the overall organisational strategy.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Manager with a locally-led charity dedicated to ensuring the rights of children in west Africa on a permanent, full-time basis. As Senior Finance Manager you will lead the charity’s financial operations and play an important part in strengthening their financial systems and processes. A key part of the role early on is to improve the quality of financial data collection and processing by the project teams.

Please note, this role requires some travel including attending the London office once per month. Additionally, candidates looking for 4 days per week may be considered.

As Senior Finance Manager, you will:

- Be responsible for running all of the charity’s financial operations

- Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial reports (including monthly and quarterly management accounts) for the CEO and Board

- Support the charity’s plans to scale by playing a lead role in financial planning for their new programme. This includes helping to design budgets and financial management systems

- Support fundraising colleagues in preparing budgets and financial reports for donors

- Work closely with colleagues in West Africa to ensure policies, systems, and processes effectively track and manage funds in compliance with internal agreements and donor restrictions (particularly around restricted/unrestricted funds)

The successful applicant will:

- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector (ideally a similar type of organisation) in a similar role

- Have a good understanding of charity financial reporting, audits, compliance, and managing multi-currency financial operations

- Be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc)

- Have experience leading financial process improvements, particularly data collection and management reporting

- Be proficient in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Excel skills

- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Fundraising Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and talented fundraising team

We are looking for an experienced Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly fundraising team. You will support the High Value Partnerships Manager and Community Fundraising Manager, both of which are already well-established income streams with lots of great potential. It’s a great opportunity to work across varied income streams including Corporate, Trusts & Grants, Community, Fundraising Events and Individual/Regular Giving.

Contract: Permanent
Hours:  37 hours per week (negotiable for the right candidate)

Salary: £24,000 - £27,000
Reports to: Community Fundraising Manager  
Work location: Hybrid/remote. Office space in London Bridge, although entirely remote option is fine. Travel to partner meetings/events will also be required.

Purpose of the role

• Reporting to the High Value Partnerships Manager you will provide support across our two priority Fundraising streams – Community Fundraising (Community, Events and Individual/Regular Giving) and High Value Partnerships (Trusts, Grants, Corporate and Sponsorship).
• Conducting prospect research (Corporate and Trusts/Grants) creating a pipeline of targeted opportunities, and submitting applications for lower level funding
• Providing excellent relationship management to those in our community who fundraise for us, whether that’s as a Regular Giver or Marathon runner
• Providing support to the Manager planning Fundraising Events, recruiting participants, attending and cheering on our fundraisers and thanking our supporters
• Accountable for delivering our annual raffle and ongoing Lottery programme
• Support the wider Development team with admin relating to Fundraising

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience either in supporting the delivery of High Value partnerships or Community Fundraising. They will be able to demonstrate how they have researched partnerships and/or submitted funding applications, providing excellent stewardship and creating meaningful partnerships that lead to long term support for the charity.
