We are working with an inspiring international medical charity to find their next Institutional Trusts and Fundraising Manager.

The charity have fully embraced flexible working and the role can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at their office in Colchester.

It is an exciting time to joining them as they have just completed developing their new multi-year global strategy to take them through to 2030, and to guide their work into the future. They are using their Centenary year in 2024 as a springboard to launch them into the new strategic period. 2024 is very much a year for looking and planning ahead!

The Role

You will provide strategic oversight and direction for the institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets and line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target.

Provide the prime bid writing function for institutional funders and Trusts and Foundations.

Work closely with the programmes team, both in the UK and overseas to provide leadership of high-quality bid production.

Research new possible funding opportunities and develop a strong pipeline of potential opportunties.

Manage relationships with key funders and be the lead contact for trust and institutional funders.

Keep up to date with the latest trends in institutional, statutory and trust fundraising.

The Candidate
A natural relationship based fundraiser able to build strong working relationships with inteternal and external stakeholders.

Strong experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,000+

Substantial experience interpreting and translating material into compelling content for successful proposals.

Demonstrable strong project and account management abilities.

Confident in the development of budgets to meet proposal requirements.

Strong problem solving ability and confidence to bring in new ideas and drive them forward

Experience of writing and communicating for different mediums and channels and applying writing and branding requirements to reports and documents.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The team

Business Energy Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government to provide free, impartial support and access to funding to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) save energy, carbon and money. As Scottish businesses try to overcome the twin challenges of high energy prices and playing their part in reducing carbon emissions, our work is more important than ever.

The role     

• You will be the first point of contact for SMEs contacting Business Energy Scotland so your work will be vital in helping them start their energy saving process. After your initial contact with the business, you will forward enquiries to other members of the Business Energy Scotland team who will provide in-depth technical support.

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britons rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. We support community action, galvanise and mobilise public opinion, influence government policy, and call out destructive industrial practices to incentivise changes that end pollution.

We are looking for highly engaged people who share our passion for rivers, wildlife and people who bring a creative, collaborative and investigative approach to campaigning. For this role we are looking for people who will blend intelligent analytical problem solving and laser-focused tactics with creative and engaging ways of inspiring others to act and to achieve impact through our work.

What you’ll be doing:

The Campaigns Coordinator will help to deliver highly engaging public and political campaigns and activations. You’ll work closely with the Head of Campaigns and the wider team to develop and deliver positively disruptive campaign strategies designed to meet the organisation’s overarching goal of rescuing our rivers. You’ll be investigating the causes of river pollution at a catchment level, delving deep into supply chains to uncover those behind the damaging practices that are killing our rivers and identifying constructive solutions at a catchment and national scale. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver creative campaigns and tactics, designed to have the greatest impact on the most threatened rivers and communities by engaging the voting and consuming public and holding polluters and government to account. You’ll be supporting the Head of Campaigns and our external consultants to deliver our political advocacy and legal action strategy to bring about change at the highest level of decision making. You will bring energy and innovation for scaling our reach and impact, blending a touch of the maverick with a professional and diplomatic approach to bringing about change urgently.

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the delivery of River Action’s campaign strategies.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate data-driven campaigns for community, media and political audiences.

• Generate highly engaging written and graphic content for our campaigns, adjusting the tone and messaging to different audiences and campaign needs.

• Utilise research showing the causes and sources of river pollution at a catchment level within the policy and regulatory context and assess evidence (including scientific data and reports) to develop impactful campaigns.

• Work with our outside legal counsel to explore legal routes to tackling river pollution such as bringing judicial reviews targeting Government and private actions targeting industry.

• Utilise River Action’s project assessment and management systems and processes to ensure the efficient coordination of campaigns. 

• Investigate and report pollution supply chains at a catchment level for example the relationship between farming, producing, transporting and retailing food and the associated pollution.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate creative campaigns including petitions, public meetings, protests, stunts and campaign collateral such as video and other content. 

• Develop key campaign tools and assets such as props, promotional assets, toolkits and digital campaign tools.

• Draft engaging written content for different audiences to raise awareness of the problems rivers and communities face and offer hope and solutions.

• Contribute data and research outputs for the creation of press releases, MP briefings, policy documents and public communications.

• Represent River Action at campaign events and media opportunities, providing well-informed, professional and motivating contributions. 

• Coordinate contractors and suppliers that are engaged to support our campaigns and activations.

• Contribute data and content for our impact monitoring and evaluation systems.

• Produce internal monthly campaign reports and provide content and data for external communications. 

• Maintain and develop partnerships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

• Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Actions network of supporters. 

• Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and high quality digital and social media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos, writing articles/blogs, providing comments and conducting interviews.

Please provide a one page campaign plan for how you would use that data and initial story to target the responsible polluters and government regulators, mobilise the public and campaign for urgent changes in industry practices and regulation. The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.

We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. About this role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional, with a proven track record of income generation and a strong ability to develop impactful relationships with the skills to bring aligned individuals and organisations into our long-term EduSpots community. The post holder will be creative, passionate and self-motivated, with strong marketing and communications skills, able to design and implement strategic fundraising approaches. 

In this role, you will take on responsibility for identifying, creating and delivering impactful fundraising strategies that enable us to generate further relationships and income in support of our programmes. 

You will oversee the development of our individual giving and monthly giving strategies and further develop relationships with schools, corporate organisations and NGOs, with a focus on resource acquisition (e.g. books, electronic devices) alongside fundraising. You will also play a supportive role in events and campaigns, and work closely with our Head of Communications to ensure our marketing and communications strategy is integrated with our fundraising aims. Currently, we already have a trusts and foundations manager, but would welcome applicants with experience of trust fundraising.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Develop our individual giving and monthly giving strategies, including:

  • Ensuring we have the right tools in place.

  • Strengthening thanking and communications to existing supporters.

  • Trialling new strategies for outreach to new audiences.

• Organise occasional fundraising events (e.g. face-to-face events in London; virtual events and fundraising challenges).

• Support organisation and delivery of appeals and campaigns (e.g. the Big Give).

• Support the development of impactful relationships with schools, universities, corporates and NGOs for fundraising and resource acquisition (e.g. books, digital devices, science equipment). 

• If time and experience, possibly support grant applications. 

• Line manage, and provide support to, the intern/s (fundraising). 

Other

• Ensure all administrative tasks relating to the role are carried out accurately.

• To comply at all times with the organisation's policies, procedures and performance expectations of staff as set out in the Staff and Volunteers Handbook.

• To ensure compliance with data protection legislation.

• Any other duties as may be reasonably required under the role.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of successful income generation from individuals or communities - ideally in a similar education / international development organisation 

• Experience of developing and maintaining successful income generating relationships (e.g. with schools, corporates, individuals, communities)

• Experience of digital marketing to engage new charity supporters / donors (including using paid advertising and innovative engagement techniques)

• Experience of email marketing and donor conversion strategies

• Strong communication and marketing skills, ideally with basic design skills (Canva)

• Ability to work effectively in a remote based role with minimal day-to-day support 

• Outstanding interpersonal skills 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to use own initiative and work to tight and competing deadlines

• Ability to effectively manage workload and prioritise tasks 

• Good IT skills - Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Canva, Social Media

Desirable

• Experience of writing compelling and successful funding proposals 

• Experience of managing and reporting to funders
