Job Description

As Fundraising Assistant you will be part of a growing and busy team currently responsible for raising £2.7million to fund the charity’s work to take on heart diseases. This role is integral to the team, supporting a variety of fundraising activity including our flagship anonymous heART project, third party challenges such as the London Marathon and Great North Run, fundraising activities organised by our supporters or third party challenges through an external supplier, digital fundraising activities as well as supporting some of our other income streams and administrative functions.

This is a brilliant role for someone looking to start a career in fundraising, giving broad experience across fundraising disciplines, with a particular focus on events, and scope to take on individual projects.

Given the nature of the role, it will require the postholder to be able to manage their time and workload effectively across a variety of tasks, while actively contributing to our work to generate income and achieve our targets.

Key Responsibilities

· To assist with the co-ordination and delivery of all art-related fundraising activities – including liaising with artists, promoting art sales and the anonymous heart project (in conjunction with the marketing team), and supporting the administration of these fundraising activities.

· To support third party challenge events (via external suppliers), including assisting with the administration, marketing, recruitment and stewardship of participants for such events as the London Marathon and the Great North Run and supporting with marathon event weekend activities.

· To support event day activities, including attending events to support our participants

· To steward supporters who are organising their own community fundraising activities, ensuring they feel valued and have everything they need for their events

· To come up with ideas and identify opportunities to deliver effective, exciting and appropriate fundraising activities

· Contribute to the planning and delivery of agreed national campaigns

· Provide additional administrative support across the fundraising team as needed – including but not limited to use of the database, thanking donations, sending out fundraising materials and packs etc. This includes providing cover for the Supporter Care Officer when they are on annual leave or on non-working days.

· Ensure all activities are carried out in an efficient and effective manner to meet agreed targets

· Ensure that our supporter database (Beacon) is kept up to date with accurate and timely information, in line with our processes and GDPR requirements

· Understand and comply with all internal fundraising policies and procedures, as well as working in line with the Fundraising Code of Practice, abiding at all times by the rules set out in the GDPR.

We are delighted to have been awarded funding by the National Lottery to deliver a third phase of our incredibly popular Women Off to Work (WOW) programme. Since 2017, WOW has supported hundreds of local women from predominantly Global Majority communities through holistic training and pathways into work programme.

WoW delivers a blend of life and vocational skills training, promoting general employability and improved wellbeing through work experience placements, internships, job brokerage, practical advice on self-employment and micro-businesses, ESOL classes and more. The programme provides women with opportunities to gain formal and accredited training qualifications and provide support with tailored into-work action plans.

To perform this role, you’ll need the following skills:

Technical Research Expertise

• Expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including RCTs, quasi-experimental methods; including multi-country evaluations and ethical research management.
• Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and research data interpretation. Excellent data analysis skills using statistical software packages (STATA or R) and advanced excel skills; experience of advanced quantitative analysis techniques such as Interrupted Time Series Analysis, multilevel regression etc.

• Proficiency in developing new metrics and frameworks for assessing program impact, particularly in equity, disability, and marginalized group outcomes.
• Deep understanding of research ethics, protocols, and quality assurance processes
• Highly proficient in steering large-scale third-party evaluations.

Sector Expertise

• Substantial experience in sexual and reproductive health research
• Understanding of SRH research challenges, indicators, and measurement approaches
• Knowledge of key global health research institutions and networks
• Familiarity with demographic and health research data sources and methodologies

Stakeholder Engagement and communication

• Highly developed skills to influence and persuade ability to quickly and effectively build relationships with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

• Demonstrated experience in thought leadership, research dissemination, and donor engagement.
• Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and deliver high-quality research outputs in a fast-paced environment.

Formal education/qualification

• Advanced degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related fields is essential.
• Additional qualification or formal training in research design or impact evaluation desirable
• Proficiency in French is highly desirable (please state level in application)
• Additional qualification or formal training in research design, epidemiology or impact evaluation, data visualisation such as PowerBI; advanced excel skills - desirable

About the role:

As our Finance Manager you will be at the heart of the charity’s operations and play a vital role in helping to achieve our strategic objectives. Working closely with the Director of Operations and CEO, your role and expertise will be pivotal in driving excellence and integrity in financial management and strategic financial decision-making.

Your responsibilities will be to lead the entire financial lifecycle, from budgeting and forecasting, to the delivery of WellChild’s audit and the production of the charity’s Annual Report & Accounts to the appropriate standards.

What are we looking for:

You will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of financial management and a solid understanding of charity accounting (including SORP and Charity VAT) and statutory accounts preparation. You will have strong analytical skills, a strong attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the charity to support robust financial governance and ensure transparency in the management of financial operations. Your ability to interpret, analyse and communicate financial data will be key in informing decision-making and presenting clear, accessible reports to a range of stakeholders, including trustees and funders.

You will be confident using financial systems and tools such as Sage 50, Excel, and spreadsheets, and will consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you will be able to work independently while upholding the values and integrity of the organisation.

As the main finance role for the charity (supported by the Operations Team) you will be an excellent communicator, an emotionally intelligent and diligent team player who takes pride in their work and enjoys a diverse workload.

Opportunity to pioneer work with children of all ages within the local community at an exciting Community Hub. The Rising Generation Pastor will oversee a team of children's and youth workers, supporting them in offering a wide range of groups and events. 

Overall responsibilities include:

- Overseeing all areas of ministry to the rising generation (0 - 18 year olds) within the church and the local community, including holding the overall vision.

- Line managing the youth team including the Assistant Youth Pastor, PAIS Apprentice team leader and Trainee Kids and Families Pastor.

About Us

SOSRC (SOS Rape Crisis) works with survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse, providing independent, specialist support and promoting and representing their rights and needs. SOSRC provides service across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford. SOSRC is a registered charity working with adults of all genders, young people and children. 

We are part of Synergy Essex, a partnership of three Rape Crisis Centres (SOSRC, SERICC and CARA), funded by the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex to provide a countywide ISVA service.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Adult and Young Person Sexual Violence Therapist (sessional) to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will provide specialist counselling support to adults and young people who have experienced rape, sexual violence, or sexual abuse. You will uphold professionalism and deliver trauma-informed, empowering therapeutic support.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver counselling and emotional support services from a Feminist perspective, upholding the Rape Crisis ethos and values.

• Provide one-to-one counselling, maintaining a caseload of 10-25 clients per week (minimum 10).

• Conduct assessments and complete regular risk assessments using the SAS (Safety and Support) Form.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with SOSRC policies and GDPR.

• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.

• Work flexible hours, including some evenings, and across various locations in Southend, Castle Point, and Rochford as needed.

• Participate in training and contribute to the wider counselling team within The Synergy Essex Partnership.

• Adhere fully to all organisational policies and safeguarding procedures.

• Report to the Clinical Manager or CEO and undertake other related duties as required.

About You

Essential Skills and Experience

• Diploma in Counselling or equivalent, with a minimum of 400 counselling hours.

• Experience working therapeutically with adults and young people.

• Experience of supporting people with mental health issues and psychological or behavioural problems.

• A strong understanding of feminism and gender-based violence.

• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures for children and vulnerable adults.

• Ability and willingness to work remotely, as a lone worker, and across multiple locations.

• Flexible availability including some evening work.

• Proven ability to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, and work independently.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Fundraiser to join our Community Fundraising team. Community is at the heart of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, and our community fundraising team play a vital role in building relationships and raising funds across our community and catchment. As a Community Fundraiser you will enjoy working with people and supporting the community to maximise, they’re fundraising efforts for Shooting Star.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

As a key member of our Community Fundraising team, you will work closely with the Senior Public Fundraising Manager and Head of Supporter Engagement on new and existing fundraising activities, helping to maintain and develop existing relationships and work proactively to identify new contacts and opportunities for development.  This is an exciting role, in a growing team within a charity that makes a huge impact across our communities. We would welcome applications from candidates who have demonstrable experience in fundraising, marketing or sales, or transferable relationship management skills.

The post will be based at the hospice in Hampton, but you may need to travel extensively throughout Shooting Star Children’s Hospices catchment area and therefore it is essential you are a car owner and driver.

You may be required to attend events and meetings throughout the catchment area during weekends, early mornings or evenings and you should be prepared for this.

• Strong understanding of social issues and cultural dynamics in various communities.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in project management and organisational skills.

Working collaboratively with our fantastic team, board, key stakeholders and LEVEL Centre’s vibrant community, you will provide confident and inspiring leadership to develop and oversee a programme that reflects our vision, mission and values. You'll have a successful track record in fundraising, and work to promote and maintain the interests of LEVEL Centre in its relationships with Arts Council England and other funding bodies.

Pension: LEVEL Centre operates an auto enrolment pension scheme deferred for 3 months from joining the organisation with Nest.
