Join us in the ambitious ‘Birmingham In Action’ campaign, which commits to raising over £600 million of charitable funding and 1.25 million volunteer hours positioning the University as one of the world leaders in University development. To fulfil our exciting campaign ambitions, we are recruiting a Philanthropy Manager (12 month contract) to help grow our philanthropic funding and to take our campaign to the next level.
Our world has many challenges that will deeply affect our generation and the next. As a Philanthropy Manager, you will cultivate significant gifts for amazing education and charitable research projects, you will provide funding for scholarships to support students from underrepresented backgrounds and will raise philanthropic funds for priority research areas including cancer, other global health issues and climate change. You will encourage and inspire donors to make long-term, sustainable gifts.
You will be joining an established team of fundraisers made up of Senior Philanthropy Managers, Philanthropy Managers and Philanthropy Officers. You will have experience of delivering against financial targets, along with the ability to translate complex information into a compelling ask in both verbal and written form. As a Philanthropy Manager in DARO, you will be innovative, self-motivated, and take ownership of fundraising opportunities in this area and generate significant gifts for amazing philanthropic projects. You will have an enthusiasm for building relationships, the skill to interact with high-level donors and supporters, and the ability to showcase the sector-leading academic research to a range of audiences.

The CO will work with the whole community of Thames View and Barking Riverside wards (and across the wider borough of Barking & Dagenham) to transform the area via environmental action, into a place that people are proud of, where they can see a positive and exciting future and feel able to influence and shape the wider changes that are taking place due to development / regeneration.
On a day-to-day basis, the CO will have the overall responsibility for delivering environmental action, including litter picks, supporting volunteers, ensuring that activities are delivered on time and within budget and that targets are met. S/he will have experience of working in communities under pressure, be committed to a community-led approach and be capable of establishing and running environmental sessions, including litter picks and chairing of community meetings. S/he will have the skills and personal qualities to build strong, trusting relationships, and the confidence and maturity to encourage and support others to take a lead.
Key responsibilities:
· Organizing litter picks with residents and local groups
· Liaising with strategic partners (LBBD, NHS, BRL, Be First etc).
· Publicising activity on social media
· Producing short 100-word reports for newsletters
· Attending team meetings
· Supporting volunteers.
· Chairing community meetings.
· Completing 1-2 small grant applications
· Financial oversight of budget and monitoring requirements
· Development of forward strategies to support environmental action
· Attend training as appropriate.
· Ensure compliance with Thames Life strategies – safeguarding, health and safety, EDI etc.
· Any other duties as required.
The post for an initial 3-months pending review, with the hope of the post continuing thereafter

Our Church & Supporter Engagement team have an ambitious vision to grow a global community of people who want to enter into a whole-life response to poverty with help from Tearfund. We have a ministry to inspire and help people to live generously – in every sense of the word.
We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to join the Church & Supporter Engagement Leadership Team in this maternity cover role to help with this exciting vision.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the development and delivery of a cost effective individual donor recruitment strategy
- Recruiting new individual donors, targeting individuals who have greatest potential to continue their support for the work of Tearfund throughout their lifetime and by engaging in whole life response
- Align fundraising activity with wider vision, mission and brand identity
The successful candidate will:
- Experience in the charity sector in a fundraising or marketing leadership role
- Multi-channel marketing experience across a variety of media channels including digital marketing, social media, PR, OOH, TV and radio.
- Strong experience of managing creative, media and digital agencies to deliver campaigns and achieve numerical and fundraising targets
- Experience in KPI tracking and analysis
- Strategic thinker who sees the big picture, capable of adapting tactics to maintain focus on delivering the high level strategy
- Good track record of managing budgets over £1m
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects
- Significant experience of project managing multi-channel projects with multiple stakeholders.
This is a fixed-term 12 month maternity cover role, with an expected start date at the beginning of August 2024. This is a full time role 35 hours per week.
