Job description

Closing date: 14th July 2020 at 11.30pm.
Interviews: 21st and 22nd July 2020

Do you have proven experience of building relationships with, and fundraising from, Trusts, Foundations, Lottery or similar bodies? Then join Shelter as a Fundraising Executive - Trusts and Foundations and you could soon be playing a key role in raising vital funds to support our work which is needed more than ever.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. And, in the middle of a pandemic, our services have seen demand soar. Thousands more people are facing uncertainty and, as the impact on individual finances and the economy continues to emerge, sadly the number of people facing homelessness is likely to grow. Fundraising have never been more important.  Join us and together we can prevent more people from losing their homes.

About the Role
Building and managing relationships with a varied portfolio of trusts and foundations to secure gifts of £5,000 or more is the challenge here. That will include warm, lapsed and new trusts with a variety of funding interests, relationship management needs and application requirements. Accordingly, you’ll need to research, correspond, contact and meet with funders to build relationships ahead of submitting applications. And, for restricted applications, you’ll work with colleagues across Shelter to ensure each application meets our strategic objectives. Ensuring gifts from your portfolio are acknowledged in a timely manner will be important too, as will maintain a positive relationship with funders between applications. Managing regular mailings, sharing knowledge and supporting cross-team projects – all are aspects of this vital income-generating role.

About you
You’re a passionate fundraiser with a proven track record of working with Trusts, Foundations, Lottery or similar bodies, and you have a thorough understanding of their needs utilising a range of techniques e.g. face-to-face, telephone, in writing etc. Excellent written communications skills are key, as is experience of creating clear, concise, and compelling applications and reports for funders. Confident in your ability to develop meaningful relationships with funders, including meeting them face-to-face to discuss funding opportunities, you're great at managing internal stakeholders too. What’s more, you're proficient using Microsoft Office applications plus Raiser’s Edge or a similar database.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
