Job description

An exciting opportunity to join Norwood’s Fundraising and Community Engagement department as a Head of Donor support services. You must be experienced in team management and have 3 years plus CRM database experience.

Some of the main responsibilities:

Database and Data Services

Oversee a programme of continuous improvement in database health, data quality and consistent database use throughout the Fundraising and Community Engagement department.

Ensure the Associate Director and team leads are provided with data insights and analysis to facilitate the effective and data-led planning of fundraising events and activities. Provide post-activity analysis in order to contribute to the department’s continuous improvement of its fundraising activities and thereby maximise income

Income recording and reporting

Oversee the efficient recording and reconciliation of all fundraising income and ensure all fundraising income received within the office and at external events is handled in accordance with data protection regulations, the Code of Fundraising Practice and Norwood’s policies.

Ensure that Gift Aid income is maximised and that Norwood is compliant with its gift aid processes.

Donor Care

Provide the highest level of donor care, ensuring efficient and comprehensive response to incoming enquiries across all communication channels.

Regular reviews of processes and optimising database functionality, including monitoring and improving donor thanking process.

Fundraising technology

Keep abreast of developments in fundraising technology and regularly review and compare the available third-party platforms and other fundraising products on the market.

Work with colleagues within Fundraising and Community Engagement team to choose, test and implement the most appropriate giving technologies, to ensure maximum income generation and supporter reach for Norwood’s fundraising activities.


Maintain contemporary knowledge regarding best practice and regulations within the fundraising sector and provide guidance to colleagues on all fundraising-related compliance. To include, but not limited to: guidance from the ICO, Fundraising Regulator and HMRC; adherence to the Code of Fundraising Practice; and the management of suppressions from the Fundraising Preference Service. Work with Norwood’s Data Protection Officer to ensure Fundraising is compliant with current data protection regulations.

Essential Requirements:

  • 3+ years Raiser’s Edge or similar database experience

  • Experience of managing a team

  • Experience of working in the charity sector

  • Experience of writing high-quality policies and procedures

  • Supporter care experience

  • Experience of implementing significant process improvements

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Jewish Culture
