This role is ideal for someone who loves connecting with people and sharing their passion for nature.

You may have worked in roles that involved building face-to-face relationships, such as hospitality, customer service, sales, sustainability, conservation, campaigning, fundraising, business development, retail, or volunteering. However, it’s your transferable skills that matter most, as we’ll provide you with fantastic training and ongoing support to help you succeed. You do not need previous fundraising experience!

The ideal candidate will be close enough to Leighton Moss to commute daily.

The Role

Leighton Moss is home to the largest reed bed in north-west England. This sweeping expanse provides shelter to a spectacular range of wildlife including Otters, Bearded Tits, Bitterns, Marsh Harriers, egrets and Red Deer. 

Set against the shores of the nearby Morecambe Bay, this Lancashire nature reserve is a thriving visitor haven attracting people of all walks of life to explore its reedbeds, mudflats, coastal marsh and saltwater lagoons. Explore a bit further and you will also find pockets of woodland and limestone grasslands. 

As part of the Leighton Moss team, you’ll work alongside dedicated staff and volunteers to welcome visitors, share the conservation importance of this iconic site, and inspire support for the organisation through fundraising and membership recruitment.

The Role

Arne is not only a brilliant Dorset bird watching spot, it’s also one of the few remaining places where all six of the UK’s native reptiles can be found. Situated on Poole Harbour and within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this Dorset nature reserve is a thriving visitor haven attracting people of all walks of life; landscapes don’t get much more breathtaking than Arne. It’s a rich patchwork of habitats, home to a huge array of wildlife. Explore wide-open heathlands where reptiles roam, as well as ancient oak woodland humming with bird song, farm fields where Sika Deer stags rut and wetlands where Spoonbills wade. Still want more? How about discovering wading birds among the mudflats, watching Dartford Warblers darting about in the scrub, and spotting seals from the shoreline.

We carefully manage Arne's unique mix of habitats to create the ideal conditions for wildlife to thrive. As a threatened habitat in the UK, our lowland heath is of particular importance and many rare birds including Dartford Warblers, Woodlarks and Nightjars call it home. But it’s not just birds - Smooth Snakes, Silver-studded Blue Butterflies, Ladybird Spiders and Yellow Centaury (a rare heathland plant) can also be found at Arne.

The Development assistant will play a vital role in supporting the charity's ambitious fundraising programme at a pivotal time of growth and transformation. The Role

The Development Assistant underpins the important work of the Development Department to raise funds from private funders, including individuals, trusts & foundations, corporate partners, and international funders. The Development Assistant directly supports the Director of Development and works across the Development department, providing strong and proactive organisational and administrative support. You will be joining a dedicated and enthusiastic fundraising team where you will be personally responsible for managing a portfolio of individual relationships. You will cultivate, solicit and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects (this includes holding regular face-to-face meetings) to secure significant donations towards our themes of Climate, Health, Creative and Campus.

Degree-educated or with equivalent qualifications/experience, you must have excellent communication skills and a proven track record in fundraising or relationship management.

This full-time post is available on an indefinite basis.

Key responsibilities:

- Keep up to date with available support from RBL, statutory and local providers.
- Build relationships with friends and family members, encouraging engagement and act as a liaison between internal and external services.
- Work together with Recovery colleagues to identify volunteering opportunities, recruit, train and coordinate volunteers and ambassadors within Team UK.

You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues. There will be regular travel nationally to attend events, training or meetings, with a potential for international travel in the future.
