Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

What you will be doing

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

Event Champions

Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.

Activity Organisers

Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.

Promoting SSAFA Services

Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.

SSAFA Storytellers

Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.

Community Connectors

Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects

Fundraising Heroes

Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.

Administrators

Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Friendly and approachable people.
• Confident people who feel happy to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and
• SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.

CAFOD Advisor

Strategy Performance Committee (SPC)

Role

Committee member, providing expert fundraising input to this Committee of the Board, alongside Trustees and other advisors. The SPC exercises governance activities on behalf of the Board and provides recommendations to the Board on such governance matters. The remit of the SPC encompasses CAFOD’s programmatic work, covering both CAFOD’s international activities and the work within the Catholic Community in England and Wales.

Person

• Total alignment with goals, ethos and culture of CAFOD, including its Catholic values
• Experience working within the charity sector with knowledge of multiple income streams
• Knowledge of fundraising for international causes would be advantageous
• Experience in multiple income portfolio management, particularly fundraising from the public
•  Familiarity with Fundraising Regulator best practice/Chartered Institute of Fundraising
• An understanding of fundraising in a faith context
• Good committee skills - team player, independent thinker, listening and contributing constructively
• Good communicator
• Commitment to the role (serious reading of committee papers and engagement with issues)

Time commitment

• Four half-day meetings a year, currently two at Romero House, London and two online
• As required, exceptionally, ad hoc meetings and meetings with other committee members, Trustees or staff as required
• No specific term, but expectation of 4 years minimum

The barriers faced by people from lower socio-economic backgrounds are higher in the UK than almost every other developed country and cause disadvantage for too many.

The Bridge Group’s mission is to change this. For over ten years, we’ve supported organisations of all kinds with independent expertise, research and practical know-how to enable them to make a real and lasting impact on socio-economic diversity and social equality.

To help us move into the next ten years with energy, vision and purpose, we are seeking several new trustees with experience of organisational governance and a strong interest in our work.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking to balance the range of skills and experience on our Board, so would particularly welcome applications from individuals who have any of the following:

• A background in, or excellent understanding of financial management

• Experience of fundraising and philanthropic income generation

• Good knowledge of the social sciences and/or a background in research or academia

• Experience in tech, cyber security or AI

• Personal experience of the barriers created by ‘social class’ and/or identify as from a lower socio-economic background.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Leicester and District Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.

Time commitment

Who They Are

Restart in Business is an organisation dedicated to helping individuals with experience of the criminal justice system build sustainable self-employment opportunities and reduce reoffending. Drawing on lived experience in both rehabilitation and business, the organisation delivers group programmes and provides up to two years of ongoing support from experienced business coaches.

The Role

As Restart in Business moves towards completing the formation of its charitable organisation and registering with the Charity Commission, it is seeking trustees who share a passion for reducing reoffending and supporting individuals with lived experience of the criminal justice system to create positive, independent futures through self-employment.

Trustees will play a key role in guiding the charity’s strategic direction, ensuring strong governance, accountability, and long-term sustainability. The organisation is particularly interested in individuals with expertise in business development, finance, fundraising, marketing, or the criminal justice and rehabilitation sectors.
