Philanthropy Manager

The Philanthropy Manager will manage and grow a portfolio of dedicated major donors, developing inspiring, personalised supporter journeys that deepen engagement and secure repeat and increased gifts. Working within a committed and supportive team, you'll raise awareness of the Charity's services, build mutually beneficial relationships, and deliver sustainable long-term support through thoughtful cultivation, compelling proposals, and excellent stewardship.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and working closely with the Individual Giving Manager and wider fundraising colleagues, you will proactively identify and research prospects, plan targeted approaches, and lead solicitations. The role will also engage with senior church contacts (e.g. Archbishops and diocesan representatives) who have a history of support; while the Charity is non-religious and non-political, you'll bring sensitivity and confidence operating within these settings to advance shared philanthropic goals.

The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of securing four- and five-figure gifts, crafting persuasive cases for support, and managing high-value pipelines from identification to stewardship. You'll be a collaborative relationship-builder with excellent written and verbal communication, rigorous research skills, and the ability to tailor engagement for diverse audiences while upholding the Charity's values and client-centred ethos.

The Role

It operates two award-winning visitor attractions, Discovery Point, home of the RRS Discovery (the ship that took Scott and Shackleton to the Antarctic), and Verdant Works, an 1833 flax and jute mill that tells the story of the industry which shaped Dundee for almost 200 years.

The Trust generates around £2.2m annually through admissions, cafés, events, venue hire, fundraising and the capital appeal. To sustain and grow this work, Abeer Macintyre Consultancy is seeking, on behalf of the Trust, an exceptional Director of Development to lead the fundraising strategy and team.

As Director of Development, you will

• Lead the fundraising team and nurture their potential following a period of leadership change.

• Shape and deliver a multi-channel fundraising strategy, with a focus on major gifts, high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, legacies and international networks.

• Work closely with the Executive and Commercial Directors to align fundraising with earned income.

• Draw on the strength of a highly engaged Board, a well-connected Chair, and high-profile Patrons such as Brian Cox, Dan Snow and Lorraine Kelly.

An established national charity is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to join their Finance Business Partnering team at a pivotal time for the organisation. This is a newly shaped role designed to strengthen financial support for the charity’s fundraising and campaigning ambitions over the coming years.

The Role

You will play a central role in providing financial insight, analysis, and management across fundraising, communications, and advocacy activities. Acting as a strategic partner to senior leaders, you’ll ensure funds are used effectively to deliver long-term impact and growth.

You’ll help drive the organisation’s ambitious five-year plan to increase fundraising income and enhance its campaigning and influencing power – ensuring every pound raised contributes to a more inclusive future.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with directorate teams to develop robust budgets and forecasts, supporting effective financial planning.

* Operations and strategy: You will support reporting to United Way UK Board of Trustees, United Way Worldwide and UK regulators, as well as work closely with the CEO on strategic planning and implementation.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:
* Experience in programme management, stakeholder engagement and partnership building, with strong relationship skills combined and a natural ability to cultivate positive relationships with internal stakeholders, charity partners, prospects, funders, corporates, volunteers and internal partners

* Experience either leading or supporting proposal writing for programme delivery.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

The Individual Giving Manager will drive and deliver the Charity's ambitious fundraising strategy across all individual giving streams. You'll create, test, monitor and evaluate multi-channel appeals and campaigns; lead on Legacy and In-Memory programmes; and manage lottery, raffle, and associated products; building strong pipelines, journeys and propositions that inspire support for their mission.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and working closely with Income Generation and Marketing colleagues, you will champion an excellent donor experience; maximising retention and lifetime value while acquiring new supporters at sustainable ROI. You'll use data-led insights, segmentation and test-and-learn methods to optimise performance, ensure compliance and best practice, and embed robust reporting across the portfolio.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrable experience of delivering and growing individual giving, with a track record in audience segmentation, copy and creative development, journey mapping, and campaign evaluation. You'll be collaborative, values-driven, and comfortable working cross-functionally to deliver against income targets while safeguarding supporter care and brand integrity.
