What will I be doing?

About the Role

As our Senior Legacy Marketing Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of Compassion in World Farming’s legacy marketing programme across the UK and internationally. This is a vital role within our Global Fundraising team, offering the opportunity to help shape a sector leading legacy strategy, that inspires supporters to leave a lasting gift for farm animals and the planet.

As part of this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for all UK legacy marketing communications, from direct mail and digital campaigns to events and supporter engagement, ensuring our messaging is compelling, compassionate, and aligned with our values. Internationally, you’ll help to support the fundraising teams in six key markets (France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, USA, and Poland) to deliver locally relevant legacy campaigns, providing strategic guidance, content, and training.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a confident and strategic legacy marketing professional, with a proven track record of delivering impactful campaigns that inspire supporters to leave a very special gift. You’ll need to have a deep understanding of legacy fundraising, ideally gained within the charity or NGO sector, and be comfortable working across both UK and international markets.

You’ll need be highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with outstanding copywriting and creative skills. You will know how to craft compelling messages for direct response and be confident managing multi-channel campaigns. You will need to be able to work in a collaborative manner and skilled at engaging supporters with sensitivity and care. You’ll be comfortable managing budgets, suppliers, and data, and have a strong grasp of CRM systems (ideally Salesforce).

As Head of Development and Philanthropy, you will report directly to the CEO and work collaboratively with the wider team to achieve key organisational targets and outcomes. In this strategic role, you will lead the design and implementation of a development and philanthropy strategy to grow the foundation's grant funding capacity over the next three years. Focusing on relationship fundraising, you will increase donor engagement through excellent stewardship of existing supporters while attracting more diverse donors.

To succeed in this role, you will bring proven experience in creating and delivering philanthropy strategies to achieve income growth. You will be confident in managing new and existing donor relationships to secure five and six-figure gifts. Your experience and innovative approach will help the foundation pioneer new frontiers in giving, widening both who gives and how. As a collaborative leader, you will work alongside senior leaders, Trustees, donors and partners to deliver income targets, joining a creative team committed to professional development and wellbeing.

This role is a permanent position that will be part-time 4 days a week with hybrid working. The role offers a salary of £49k-£55k FTE, and the organisation is open to flexible working conversations.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Director is the strategic and operational lead of NRTF, responsible for the organisation’s vision, management, performance, and long-term sustainability. They ensure delivery against NRTF’s mission and business plan, champion rural touring at a national level, and act as the primary liaison with Arts Council England, stakeholders, and the wider sector. Working closely with a proactive Board of Trustees, the Director provides leadership on governance and compliance in line with UK Charity Law and NRTF’s Articles of Association, ensuring the organisation operates with transparency, accountability and good practice. The Director is a visible ambassador for rural touring, building strong relationships across the cultural sector, advocating for members, and promoting the role of rural touring in ensuring that creativity and culture thrive in every community.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

● Lead and implement NRTF’s Business Plan and strategic objectives.

● Oversee the delivery and evaluation of all funded programmes and initiatives.

● Develop and sustain relationships with our members, including the rural touring schemes, national and regional stakeholders, funders, and policy-makers.

● Ensure alignment with ACE’s Investment Principles and “Let’s Create” strategy.

● Ensure long-term sustainability through innovation, partnerships, and appropriate diversification, ensuring the organisation remains relevant and forward-thinking.

Finance and Fundraising

● Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in collaboration with the Finance Officer and Treasurer.

Membership and Sector Support

Reporting to the Head of Individual Giving and Legacy Marketing, you will lead the development and implementation of Barnardo's Legacy Marketing Strategy, with a focus on growing the number of legacy pledgers and intenders, delivering exceptional stewardship, and embedding legacy giving across the organisation. 

You'll also play a key role in developing a long-term growth strategy for In Memory Giving, working closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver inspiring and engaging supporter experiences.

• Lead the development and delivery of a long-term Legacy Marketing Strategy to grow income from gifts in wills and in-memory giving. 

• Manage a team of legacy marketing professionals and oversee a budget of approximately £600k, with an income target of £240k.
