Main purpose of the role
As our Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of our fundraising strategy, working closely with the Executive Director, the Finance Team, the Insight Fundraising Officer and the Trust and Foundations consultants. The Fundraising Manager will develop existing income streams and strengthen stakeholder and supporter engagement. As Fundraising Manager, you’ll work closely with other global team members to review and implement our fundraising strategy in line with our strategic goals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Play a leading role in the development and delivery of ICC’s fundraising strategy and the success of direct marketing, telemarketing and online campaigns to generate cash, regular giving and Gift Aid.
- Plan, research and implement all aspects of direct marketing aimed at acquiring and retaining new and existing supporters.
- Establish a robust donor stewardship strategy, building strong relationships with existing and potential donors and increasing donor retention and engagement
- Lead on the cultivation and stewardship of partnerships with churches.
- To manage the direction and relationship with our Trust and Foundation consultants by collaborating in the research, writing and submitting targeted Trust applications and report on grants awarded.
- Work with the team to support the legacy giving strategy, to maximise long-term income.
- To have oversight of the in-house CRM database (Microsoft D365). Work with the team to develop competency in the effective use of our CRM database as part of our donor stewardship and reporting structure.
- To assist and promote ICCs presence at fundraising and other events.
- Manage the ongoing development and implementation of a regular giving strategy and donor care to reduce attrition rates.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate direct marketing campaigns, Trust fundraising, recurring giving and legacy fundraising, provide results and feed the learning back into the organisation.
- To keep abreast of key issues and best practices within the direct marketing/fundraising sector.
- Ensure fundraising practices comply with GDPR, the Data Protection Act and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
- Undertake additional duties as requested.
- Line manage the Insight Fundraising Officer and lead our Trusts and Foundations partner.
Fundraising Campaigns and Events
- Plan, coordinate, and manage our annual fundraising event.
- Support the Executive Director on other events.
- Project manage our newsletter and appeal campaigns.

We’re seeking a determined, values-driven Director of Fundraising to drive income generation across several different disciplines, helping to ensure we can continue delivering vital support to people affected by brain injury.
This role isn’t just about setting strategy; it’s about being actively involved in in a hands-on capacity as you build relationships and lead fundraising efforts across community, individual giving, corporate partnerships, events, legacies and trusts fundraising.
You will also oversee and support the Head of Retail, ensuring that income from our charity shops contributes effectively to the organisation’s overall financial sustainability and growth.

Key areas of accountability
- Develop, maintain, and evolve a multi‑year fundraising strategy (3‑5 years) aligned with Headway’s strategy, priorities, and risk appetite.
- Lead the development and delivery of income generation plans across all fundraising channels (retail, individual giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, events, legacies, and community fundraising), translating organisational objectives into clear annual targets, growth strategies, and actionable fundraising plans.

About you
We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser who has performed at a director level or equivalent, ideally at a charity with a UK-wide reach.
You will be able to nurture and develop the fundraising team, building a strong culture in line with the organisation’s values, and motivating others to achieve shared goals by using your working knowledge of various fundraising disciplines.
You will be a skilled communicator, able to build relationships with and instil confidence in internal and external stakeholders including donors, supporters, and colleagues.
You will be confident and proficient in using CRM systems and fundraising platforms to manage supporter data, analyse performance and support donor engagement with data-informed decision making.
And you will be able to combine a strategic and analytic mindset with proactive, hands-on fundraising.

- Represent the charity externally with warmth and confidence, growing our network of local supporters, volunteers, and champions.
- Work closely with the CEO and Trustees to build mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses, groups, and influencers.
- Oversee the charity’s website and digital presence, ensuring our communications are clear, inspiring, and supporter focussed.
- Lead on campaigns and public relations that raise awareness of dementia and the charity’s impact in West London.
About you:
You will have experience in:

Sutton Night Watch is a registered charity which was set up to support and raise awareness for the homeless people within the London Borough of Sutton and surrounding areas.
Over the past 10 years, with the support of local business, the local community and fundraising efforts, we have been able to grow and expand into our own, permanent base in December 2019. From here we are able to not only provide the essentials such as food, showers and clothing supplies, but we are able to also offer our service users a range of health services, benefit advice, wellbeing and educational based courses, clothes, washing facilities and most importantly, a place where people are seen, heard and understood. We also support people to find secure accommodation. In the past 3 months we have found homes for 13 people.
Job Purpose:
The Fundraising Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing fundraising strategies to secure financial support for the organization.
Our annual fundraising target is set at c250k (cash income) plus additional targets for in-kind donations, preloved donations and donated services. Working closely with the Leadership Team, with responsibility for two Development Officers, you will:
Fundraising Management and Development
- Review the fundraising strategy to achieve the agreed annual fundraising targets;
- Act as a lead ambassador for fundraising across the organisation;
- Engage key funding partners and donors to build long-term relationships;
- Identify/manage fundraising campaigns, creating impactful storytelling for supporter engagement;
- Lead high-value fundraising bids nurturing relationships to ensure the best outcomes.
Individual Giving
- Develop and manage the individual giving schemes and major donor fundraising in support of cultural programmes;
- Implement a legacy giving scheme, working across departments to create support material and identify communication channels;
- Collaborate with the Director and Board to build a major donor pipeline;
- Grow the donor base and average gift size through communications, events, and stewardship;
- Liaise with the Development Officer, Marketing and Box Office, Director and Programming team, and Learning & Engagement to effectively promote and manage individual giving and supporters;
- Maximise Gift Aid income and promote tax-effective giving.
Trusts & Foundations
- Develop and manage PTCH’s Trusts & Foundations pipeline for cultural programming and Learning & Engagement projects;
- Research/identify a wide range of income sources to increase the number of funders and grant size;
- Oversee the database, maintaining accurate records to plan and prioritise funding applications;
- Work with the Director, Programming,Head of Learning & Engagement and others to devise high-quality applications and cases for support;
- Oversee the preparation of timely, accurate funder reports in collaboration with relevant teams;
- Nurture relationships with Trusts & Foundations contacts.
Corporate Sponsorship
- Review the sponsorship offering and create a pitch pack for prospective partners;
- Proactively seek company partnerships and increase sponsor numbers and fees;
- Collaborate across departments to identify projects with sponsorship potential.
Person Specification
- Experience in the charity sector, ideally in an arts or cultural environment;
- Team player;
- Outstanding communicator and persuasive storyteller;
- Enthousiastic about new fundraising opportunities and sector trends.
Essential:
- Experience in developing and delivering a fundraising strategy for a similar-sized organisation;
- Proven track record of raising at least £250,000 annually through Trusts & Foundations and individual giving;
- Thorough understanding of the arts fundraising landscape;
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and budget management skills, with the ability to motivate others and deliver against deadlines/targets;
- Experience in developing relationships with partners, major donors and individual supporters;

Background Information and Purpose of Post

The Philanthropy Specialist at Humanity & Inclusion UK is a new senior fundraising position with responsibility for planning, identifying, cultivating, and managing major donor relationships to secure significant funding, in line with the new global Major Giving Strategy 2026 - 2030.
The purpose of the post is to:
· Develop and deliver HI UK’s strategy for high-net-worth individuals.
· Lead on the new Capital Campaign, 2026-2030, for HI UK.
· Work closely with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations to develop high-value philanthropic partnerships and ensure sustained, long-term support.
· Secure five- and six-figure major gifts from a diverse and sustainable base of major donors.
· Develop your own prospect pipeline and provide excellent cultivation of your prospects to produce committed, long-term donors.
· Manage existing partnerships and donors to a high standard.
· Report to and collaborate with the Global Specialist in Major Giving (based in the UK) on the delivery and implementation of your own ambitious philanthropy strategy for HI UK, in line with UK and Federation priorities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships
You will have responsibility for developing a new strategy for high-net-worth individual support and you will lead the delivery of this strategy to secure high-value philanthropic partnerships under the responsibility of the Global Specialist in Major Giving.
Capital Campaign
Our new Capital Campaign will be an invaluable tool for you in developing funding from high-net-worth individuals in the UK. You will lead on its launch and recruit a Campaign Committee, stewarding them to deliver results.
Relationship Management
You will lead on the development and stewardship of long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations.
Income Growth
You will drive the growth of an existing pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and develop this pipeline with new supporters from our individual giving stream and philanthropists who are new to HI, to secure significant gifts.
Collaboration
You will work closely with HI's Global Specialist in Major Giving, HI UK Trustees, our Federal Major Giving team, and international colleagues, to develop compelling proposals and provide timely impact reporting.
Stewardship
You will ensure exceptional donor stewardship and provide a high-quality experience for supporters at every stage of engagement.
Cultivation events
You will initiate and run high quality cultivation events for your donors and prospects, to form part of their stewardship journey.
Data Management
You will accurately manage donor records, communications, and reporting through our CRM.
Other duties
· Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues, the Federal fundraising and communication teams, and Major Giving counterparts in other HI national associations in Europe and North America.
· Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and high standards.
· Keep up-to-date and adhere to any changes in legislation, regulatory procedures, innovation, best practice and industry standards in relation to private fundraising.
· Any other activities commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required by the Global Specialist in Major Giving.

About the role

About the role
We are the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative newsroom. Media partners around the world publish our reporting and hold power to account across five areas: environment, health, big tech, dirty money, and local power.
This role will initially focus on supporting two of those teams as they deliver journalism that drives real-world change. But it may also support work on new and emerging issues such as the rise of mis- and disinformation and how that affects UK communities. The two teams are:

Bureau Local: works with communities to uncover hidden stories in the UK. The Bureau Local team has reported on the exploitation of migrant workers, run a community-led project aimed at giving voice to the Trans+ community, and brought transparency to the family courts system through reporting and training.

Enablers: investigates the lawyers, accountants, and financial structures that allow dirty money to flow through the UK. Their work has prompted major regulatory investigations and legal action, challenging how corruption is facilitated at home and abroad..
Our fundraising
The Bureau is almost entirely funded through grants and donations – without our supporters, we couldn’t do what we do. Over recent years, we’ve grown to a team of 35 people with an annual income of £2.8m, backed by a committed network of trusts, foundations, and individuals.
This is an exciting time to join our fundraising team as we build on those strong relationships and explore new ways to diversify our income.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work with project leads to take their ideas and build a strong case for support, translating complex issues into powerful, accessible narratives for funders.
- Manage relationships with existing funders, ensuring timely reporting, effective stewardship and continued support.
- Research and develop a pipeline of new prospects.
- Write compelling proposals and applications to secure new grants.
- Collaborate with our other Fundraising Manager, who leads on environment, global health and big tech, and occasionally help in those areas.

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll directly manage four experienced team heads and oversee a high-performing team of 18 who generate bursary, unrestricted, and capital income.
