About The Role
We’re seeking a dynamic individual to support Medair UK’s engagement with trusts and foundations in the United Kingdom. Over the last 5 years income from trusts and foundations has gone from strength to strength increasing by 230% and the successful candidate will be part of the small team responsible for increasing this key area of funding. You will be an integral part of this growing Christian charity. You will enable support for the life-saving work Medair delivers to some of the world’s most vulnerable people by driving forward our relationships with UK trusts and foundations.
About You
You will be a positive and solution focused fundraiser, ready to take initiative and embrace challenging targets. Ideally you will have experience in growing income from trust and foundations from both longstanding and new potential partners, or be able to demonstrate highly relevant transferable experience. You will be capable of compiling strong fundraising proposals; produce high quality reports; partner with financial colleagues in preparing complex budgets and financial reports. A compelling written communicator, you will have a keen understanding of the humanitarian sector, and of what motivates trusts and foundations to support this work.
Key Activity Areas
Lead Generation

Be responsible for account management of caseload of mid-range Trusts & Foundations.

Work collaboratively with the Engagement Manager, Engagement Support Officer and volunteers in the identification, approach and management of UK Trusts and Foundations.

Regularly research and review opportunities for building potential relationships with prospective Trusts and Foundations and progressing relationships and applications with them through compelling communications.

Work with existing networks and contacts to identify and approach potential trusts and foundations and develop relationships with key decision makers there

Communications and Management

Work towards an agreed target each year of engaged trusts and related income, both restricted project and unrestricted funds.

Manage Medair’s engagement plan, initiating and delivering creative touchpoints throughout the year for all of Medair’s trust and foundation partners, as well as building relationships with trustees and representatives through video, online meetings, events and face-2-face opportunities
Planning, monitoring and pipeline management

Maintain a good record of the application pipeline and CRM (salesforce), monitoring application output, income targets, fund allocations and reporting deadlines.

Ensuring all grants from trusts and foundations are correctly allocated to Medair programmes, with the appropriate grant card on Medair’s project management platform and maintaining good contact with country programmes and finance partners throughout the lifecycle of Medair UK co-funded projects.
Internal Liaison

Liaise with Medair’s Heads of Country Programmes, Country Directors and Communications Officers in order to gather information and data for the purposes of applying and reporting to funders

Work collaboratively with finance colleagues in the preparation and approval of budgets and reports.

What will I be doing?
Driving continued growth of CRUK audiences and supporters by proactively managing the delivery of the Giving Platforms programme with implementation plans, working collaboratively and cross-functionally across MFE and beyond, within the allocated budget
Ensuring that agile cross-functional teams deliver against shared audiences, volume, value, contribution and other objectives, by effectively managing activities, while empowering team members to make decisions
Collaborating with MFE Proposition teams to develop understanding of their audience needs and income objectives, and supporting them to achieve this by implementing tests and initiatives that leverage opportunities on third party and CRUK owned giving platforms
Driving a culture of end-to-end delivery, building excellent working relationships, and ensuring a collective understanding of the Giving Platforms programme
Ensuring that standards are set and upheld for proposition squad processes and culture - including frequent touchpoints and communication cross-functionally, in conjunction with the Senior Programme Manager, Programme Community of Practice and any external benchmarking of best practice in our sector
Ensuring sound resource allocation plans, proposition briefs and business cases are developed
Facilitating group activity e.g. proposition squad or working group, including cross-functional decision making, dependency, risk, and issue mediation
Effectively and efficiently coordinating any changes to the implementation plan, using tools such as service blueprints, working in collaboration with Internal stakeholders, to ensure than any amendments are driving the product/proposition towards the desired outcome
Working with the Senior Manager (Giving Platforms) and Programme Community of Practice to establish appropriate governance frameworks
Working with external stakeholders, such as third-party fundraising platforms to meet CRUK in year and long-term goals
What skills are we looking for?
Experience of project management principles and methodologies - aligned to the need of the programme and best practices

Do you have experience in generating and sustaining charitable giving from individuals and nurturing a Friends scheme in the Arts education sector? Are you passionate about choral singing and its power to change the lives of children and young people and can you successfully advocate on our behalf to potential major donors?
The primary focus for the new role is to generate sustainable charitable giving from individuals, maintaining and growing our Friends memberships and developing significant income from major donors. We will also welcome input on stewardship of trusts and foundations if this is also your area of expertise.
We are a leading choral singing organisation and run residential summer courses for children and young people. Our artistic director, Ralph Allwood, founded the organisation 45 years ago, since when over 10,000 young people have benefited from our life-changing courses. Nowadays, around one third of students receive generous bursary support to attend a course and we also work with a range of partner organisations to encourage even more young people from diverse backgrounds to take part in our choral singing courses. We want to secure the future of the organisation and increase the number of students we can support by significantly growing our individual giving.
We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to work up to 2 days per week on a freelance basis to help us move up a gear or two in terms of our fundraising, specifically to develop private giving from our extensive alumni network and the many successful individuals who feel music education at a young age made them the person they are today.
We have an office in central London but the job can be done remotely with occasional meetings with the General Manager, either in person or virtually.

About this role:
The main duties and responsibilities for the Heads of Development role are as follows:
INDIVIDUAL GIVING
· Maintain and build relationships with our donors, and identify new individuals who would like to see the Rodolfus Choral Foundation thrive
· Use our extensive alumni list to source and maintain donors
· Use contacts from the artistic director and trustees to generate new donors
· Ensure that our top and potential donors are well looked after and researched, passing on key information to the Artistic Director and, where appropriate, arranging meetings between him and our donors
· Organise and co-host special donor events in unique venues
· Plan and help organise membership events for donors
· Help establish a legacy giving scheme for Rodolfus
· Have overall responsibility for reaching individual giving targets
· Ensure that data is accurately kept in our database in line with GDPR, and is harnessed to support our fundraising efforts
STRATEGIC PLANNING & REPORTING
· Develop a five-year Fundraising Strategy
· Set ambitious but achievable targets for each year, within the overall Rodolfus budget
· Contribute new ideas and find new opportunities for fundraising
· Produce quarterly fundraising updates for the Trustees
· Produce a fundraising report for the annual accounts, identifying strengths, weaknesses and areas for development in the Fundraising Strategy
TRUSTS AND GRANT-MAKING BODIES
· Liaise with the General Manager to ensure a coordinated fundraising plan and targets, in keeping with the artistic vision for Rodolfus
· Proof and submit applications and be the point of contact for Trusts and Foundations (this work is currently supported by the General Manager and a fundraising consultant)
GENERAL
· Attend Team and Board meetings as required
· Be a passionate advocate at all times for Rodolfus
· Adhere to all legal requirements relating to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as all other company policies and procedures
· Create a positive work environment, underpinned by the organisation’s values
· The list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be reviewed from time to time by the Trustees.

Job description – Cara Funding and Communications Manager
This is a critical time to join our dedicated team as we expand our work in response to the growing risk to academics and universities worldwide. Building on our 93 years of experience and partnerships with 135 UK university, this role provides an excellent opportunity for a dynamic fundraiser to grow our support from individual and organisations.
Line Manager: Chief Executive
Objective: The Funding and Communications Manger leads on the delivery of our fundraising strategy to diversify and grow Cara’s income streams.
Hours: Full-time. Eight hours each day Monday – Friday, with flexible working by arrangement around core hours of 10am – 4pm.
Location: Hybrid working - in London office in Elephant and Castle SE1 (2-3 set days per week) and working from home on the remaining days.
Role purpose - responsible for executing fundraising strategy to generate increased income for Cara’s work - identify and cultivate potential donors, manage fundraising events and campaigns, and ensure compliance with fundraising regulations.
Detailed responsibilities:
· Fundraising Strategy and business plan:
Work closely with the Chief Executive to review and adapt our fundraising strategy and business plan and produce analytics to review performance by income type and to help set stretching and achievable targets and improvement plans for each income stream. Implement and develop fundraising plans, including initiation and management of campaigns. Take responsibility for developing new income streams and products including alumni and legacy giving.
· Relationship Building:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors, including individuals, major donors, and foundations. Work with the Cara team to ensure effective relationship management across all donors and lead on donor identification for all income streams. Identify opportunities for pro bono support in support of the Cara strategy.
· Event Management:
Organize and manage fundraising events, ensuring successful execution and high engagement with our target audiences. This includes a schedule of location-based university engagement events (up to twelve per year) to engage existing individual donors, build awareness of Cara’s work, and cultivate new individual donors. Collaborate with contacts at each university to plan, deliver and follow up on each event. Lead on other key Cara events including the annual science and civilisation lecture to ensure that these build the Cara brand.
· Data Management for donor stewardship:
Maintain accurate donor records (on salesforce) and build and maintain fundraising databases for individuals and organisational donors to manage engagement throughout the donor journey. Maintain a view of Cara’s pipeline income to support the work of the Cara management team and reports to support accountability and trustee engagement including return on investment for each income stream.
· Communication:
Prepare and distribute fundraising materials, including appeals, newsletters, social media content, and articles for the website. Develop a range of case-studies profiling the work of Cara (including programmes, university partners, and individual academics). Collaborate closely with the Chief Executive to build the Cara brand through co-ordination of Cara’s presence at events and through priority digital channels.
· Proposal writing
Lead on proposal writing for major donors and philanthropic funding. Collaborate with colleagues on larger grants taking responsibility to overall proposal quality and timely submission. Ensure that the team work to agreed standards on all written reports and proposals to donors.
· Compliance:
Adhering to fundraising regulations, such as those outlined by the Fundraising Regulator, and ensuring that all fundraising activities are ethical and legal. Develop policies and practices to manage risk including appropriate due diligence and gift acceptance policies.
· Trends
Stay up to date on signals and trends in fundraising relevant to Cara’s work and use these to inform our business planning and risk/opportunity management.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
· Proven success implementing effective strategies to raise income from a range of donors with a focus on major donors.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: The ability to effectively communicate with donors including senior staff at universities.
· Strong writing and presentation skills: Developing winning proposals and presentations. Experience ranging from individual regular donors to six figure grants.
· Project management and organizational skills: Managing fundraising projects and campaigns effectively.
· Research and analytical skills: Identifying funding opportunities, analysing fundraising performance, and making data-driven decisions.
· Team working skills: ability to collaborate effectively with team without firm levers of management control. Ability to motivate and support non-fundraisers to work to best practice.
· Knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practices: Understanding the ethical and legal aspects of fundraising.
· Experience with fundraising software and databases: to manage donor information and track fundraising activities. Experience and/or willingness to learn to use salesforce.
