Fundraising Assistant

Contract: Permanent, part-time (21 hours per week)

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 pro rata (commensurate with experience)

Location: Battersea, London.

This is a part-time post, 21 hours per week to be worked on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid working available, with a requirement to be in the Battersea office 1 to 2 days per week.

BookTrust is the UK's largest children's reading charity. Working with every local authority and across every region in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, and supported by Arts Council funding, we reach over 3 million families a year through schools, health visitors, libraries and other partners. Working as a member of the Mass Engagement team, you will be part of the team tasked with growing individual giving income.  We are increasing the range of new donor audiences, expanding the range of fundraising channels and developing new fundraising products.

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual, who has excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability to build relationships with people by email, on the telephone and in person.

You’ll be responsible for responding to fundraising enquiries across multiple channels including phone, email, and print, thanking supporters, collating campaign results and providing an exceptional experience to our supporters. You will ensure that all donor details are accurate and kept up to date on our CRM (Microsoft Dynamics).

The Role
Building relationships with the fire and rescue services in your area, you’ll become an integral part of the local fire services community. You’ll join a nation-wide team of inspiring and innovative fundraisers, working collaboratively to secure the much-needed income for the Charity. 

Helping to coordinate events, support fundraising initiatives and implement new ideas, you’ll support your people, stations, and offices to raise awareness of the Charity and achieve and exceed income targets, as well as working with local businesses and people to maximise our fundraising potential.

By generating the income, we need to realise our ambitions you will help us to be there for even more members of the fire and rescue community.

Salford Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Food is donated, sorted and packed at our warehouse, then delivered to our 7 centres across Salford, where teams of volunteers greet people as they pick up their food parcels. People can also access support and advice at our centres to help them maximise their income and ensure they are less likely to need to use the foodbank again.

You’ll be joining a friendly team of 6 part-time staff, 6 Trustees and approx. 80 volunteers, all dedicated to supporting people facing hardship. We are part of The Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks.

Rate of pay: £21,000 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (£35,000 FTE pro-rata)

Full-time / part-time: Part time role 22.5 hours per week (flexible, home based within the North West with some contact hours at Salford Foodbank warehouse/office)

•  This is an exciting opportunity to join Salford Foodbank in a new role, accountable to the Foodbank Manager and the board of trustees. As the need for Foodbank services continues to grow Salford Foodbank has developed and expanded. The staff and volunteer team have increased, and we have embarked on new projects to support those that use the Foodbank.
• In order to maintain our current services and further develop, we need to grow our annual fundraised income.
• Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income, reach, and support from grant giving trusts and foundations as well as corporate organisations across Salford and Greater Manchester.  
• Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of growing income and building relationships with trusts and foundations as well as corporate partners to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have the capacity to create and craft compelling funding proposals that successfully engage and attract donations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Through excellent, comprehensive and considered research, you’ll identify and prioritise a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for Salford Foodbank. You’ll forge relationships with those funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications.
• You’ll manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and doing all you can maximising potential for further funding
• You’ll proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. Alongside this you’ll deepen engagement and grow our relationships and partnerships with existing corporate donors.
• Working with colleagues across Salford Foodbank, you’ll develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage grant giving trusts, foundations and corporate partners and that can successfully align our vision and work with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• You’ll research potential funding opportunities from the local council and local authorities.
• You will develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio. You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• You’ll work collaboratively with other Trussell Trust food banks across the Greater Manchester area, identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships.
• You’ll forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
• You’ll be willing to carry out other reasonable duties contributing to the overall aims of the Foodbank.

Skills

• You’ll have good, established experience of trusts and foundations fundraising as well as corporate partnerships fundraising.
•  With excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. You’ll be able to inspire and motivate new and existing funders.
• You’ll have experience of setting, managing and reporting against fundraising KPI’s. 
• You’ll be tenacious and able to embrace, develop and shape a new role. You’ll be well organised, proactive, and a self-starter who is able to self-motivate.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate empathy for people from disadvantaged, marginalised or socially-excluded backgrounds.

Main responsibilities will include:

Prospecting and research

• Research the funding market, tracking and identifying suitable high value tendering, commissioning and partnership opportunities and funding streams, in line with Artswork’s strategic plans, priorities, Fundraising and Social & Ethical Policies

• Conduct regular, timely reviews of published tenders and funding opportunities, in order to make recommendations to the Head of Business Development on which ones to pursue

• Establish a focused, qualified pipeline of prospective funders, investors, sponsors and donors Bid development

• Working to the strategic guidance of the Head of Business Development, prepare funding bids, tenders and sponsorship proposals, meeting funders' procurement and management requirements

• Develop realistic, costed delivery plans and budgets for proposals, working with the Head of Budgets, Contracts & Policy

• Lead the budget development process for bids, ensuring compliance with Artswork’s internal finance policies and funder requirements

• Coordinate the input of relevant stakeholders into the bid development process, ensuring they are aware of what is needed and by when, bringing everything together in a timely manner

• Coordinate the input of the Sales, Marketing and Communications team into proposal design

We’re looking for someone who is proactive and organised, and who works well with others, to ensure that funding applications and reports are inspiring, compelling, accurate, and delivered on time. 

You’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, combined with a desire to develop the futures of young Londoners. SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). By representing the voices of those who have died and who are bereaved, we aim to learn from deaths, and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives. 

Working both independently and with the wider team you will deliver a high-quality community fundraising service. We’re looking for someone who has worked in a fundraising department and/or similar role before, preferably in the charity sector. Engaging confidently with people and feeling comfortable in adapting your approach to different audiences is a key skill for this role - whether they are major donors, corporates or community fundraisers. This is particularly important as many of our supporters & fundraisers are bereaved.

Building positive supporter connections is at the heart of what we do at SUDEP Action, so setting a positive example of this through your plans and actions, and demonstrating the importance of maintaining strong, personalised supporter relationships is key. You’ll know how to follow processes to record, monitor and evaluate supporters’ engagement with community fundraising activities, so this feeds back into how the charity operates.

Much of the charity’s income comes from our motivated and passionate supporters, so this role is a key part of income generation. Do you have previous experience within fundraising or marketing? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Fundraising Engagement Officer to join our Community Fundraising Team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association!

You'll be at the heart of our fundraising efforts, recruiting passionate supporters and managing event logistics to maximise impact.

Assisting with the delivery of our Community Fundraising strategy, you will focus on marketing our portfolio of Community Fundraising products to ensure we meet recruitment, income and expenditure targets.

You will deliver our campaigns using various channels like digital, telephone, face-to-face and print to spread the word and track progress. Contributing to our social media and promotional plans will also be part of your remit.

The Story Museum in Oxford is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join its fundraising team.

The successful candidate will be a natural relationship builder who enjoys making the ask and is passionate about the Museum's aims and ambitions. The postholder will be responsible for an agreed portfolio of prospects - with support from the Senior Fundraiser – as well as working with Museum colleagues to organise fundraising events and stewardship activity.

Horatio’s Garden charity is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual, with flair for communicating through the written word, to support our Trusts & Foundations fundraising. This is a fantastic role for a graduate or someone looking to start a career in the charitable sector. You will be given ongoing support, training and mentoring throughout the job. 

Horatio’s Garden is a growing, award winning, national charity improving the lives of people with spinal injuries by creating and nurturing outstanding garden projects in NHS spinal injury centres.

Trusts & Foundations is our largest income stream and we are looking to increase capacity in the team during a growth period for the charity.You will support our experienced Trusts & Foundations team to help meet, and exceed, our income targets and to provide fantastic support to our donors.You will also have the opportunity to spend half a day a week in our Salisbury garden assisting the Head Gardener and spending time with beneficiaries.

Main duties: 

1. Identify and research grant giving trusts and foundations to whom Horatio’s Garden is eligible to submit applications for funding. 
2. Proactively approach relevant trusts and foundations, where possible, to discuss potential applications before submission. 
3. Prepare and submit high quality applications for funding for a range of Horatio’s Garden projects.
4. Prepare and submit high quality, timely progress reports to grant givers, contributing to longer term relationship development with funders. 
5. Maintain the Trusts and Foundations pipeline to maximise supporter retention and income generation.
6. Identify and deliver opportunities to engage grant givers with Horatio’s Garden, through events and garden tours, to increase supporter engagement. 
7. Support the whole fundraising team with tasks where required.

General

1. Work with the gardens, arts programme and finance teams at Horatio’s Garden to understand the need for funding and the impact of Horatio’s Garden to maintain profitable relationships with supporters.

2. Ensure all contact and communications with supporters is recorded on our CRM database and on pipelines to enable continuity with supporters across the team.

3. Keep up to date with trends and developments in fundraising to identify opportunities for Horatio’s Garden to increase sustainable income.

4. Actively contribute to team and organisation meetings. 

5. Actively contribute to projects and activities across the organisation, supporting colleagues and volunteers where necessary.

6. Support the charity at events and be willing to help the team with other activities where required.This may require travel to our garden sites across the UK and overnight stays.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience for this role  

• A flair for preparing compelling and persuasive written proposals/documents
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a warm, friendly and engaging manner 
• Numerate and able to interpret data and trends

• Ability to manage a varied workload, work on own initiative to multiple tight deadlines with demonstrable time management skills and processes
• Ability to form and maintain good relationships and to work within a team
• High level of efficiency – able to work under pressure 
• Energetic with initiative and drive 
• Enthusiasm for working in the charitable sector 

• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office packages, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook 
• Empathy and understanding of the issues faced by spinal injury patients

Fundraising and Partnerships Officer (1 FTE)

We’re on the lookout for a Fundraising and Partnership Officer to join our team, someone that can nurture relationships with our existing partners and develop new collaborations, someone who can increase our reach, and importantly, secure funding to do good.

Job Description
Whilst we imagine this job to be split roughly 50:50 between partnership management and fundraising, the truth is that we’re a small team and we all pitch in beyond our job descriptions. Everyone here has good ideas, insight and can offer support in all aspects of our work in some way or another.

Partnerships management:

1. NURTURE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR PARTNERS: Manage and foster excellent relationships with our long-term partners supporting our conservation work in Indonesian Borneo, including NGOs, zoos, corporates and other organisations; extend thanks and provide resources and advice to support them with their activities.

2. SHOUT ABOUT CLIMATE CONSERVATION: Report progress on our conservation work in Indonesian Borneo to long-term partners by drafting high-quality reports in close collaboration and support to our Grants Officer.
Fundraising:

3. SECURE FUNDING TO DO GOOD: Support the development and expansion of BNF International’s fundraising activities by identifying and securing new opportunities and
partnerships, participating in the BNF Global Outreach Team working groups and supporting the Marketing and Fundraising Manager.

4.FUNDRAISE FOR OUR 1 MILLION TREES CAMPAIGN: develop opportunities for the BNF 1 Million Trees Campaign and further reforestation campaigns by identifying dedicated habitat restoration and tree-planting donors globally; introducing our project and establishing partnerships, bringing directors into the conversation as necessary, and managing relationships with donors in the long term.

5. COLLABORATE: Identify and follow-up on new fundraising opportunities which BNF can set up or take part in to widen our reach and encourage members of the public to support or fundraise for BNF, for example by way of BNF-led challenges, charity places in sponsored events, online fundraising and other means of raising funds and awareness.

6.REPRESENT US: Occasionally attend external events to support partnership development and individual giving fundraising.

General:

7.Provide general support across the BNF International organisation and wider BNF family, to all staff and volunteers, to help ensure the efficient, effective and successful running of our activities; and to provide advice and insight to enhance the effectiveness and impact of BNF International.

Please have all or some of the following skills and experience:
-Educated at degree or master’s level in a conservation or related scientific area.
-Previous fundraising experience desirable
-Excellent people skills, enjoy dealing confidently with people at all levels as well as external stakeholders.
-Ability to turn scientific information into content that can be easily understood by non-scientific audiences.
-Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, manage workload and develop the role
