Trusts and Foundations Manager 

St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity (SMITFC) is looking for a strategic, relationship-driven Trusts and Foundations Manager to help shape the future of our income generation from charitable trusts and foundations. This is a pivotal role within our Philanthropy, Trusts and Foundations Team, working to ensure that we not only maintain but significantly grow our sustainable income streams in support of people experiencing homelessness and extreme vulnerability.

Working alongside the Philanthropy Manager and Prospect Researcher, this role will be responsible for identifying and securing new 5-6 figure+ gifts, maintaining and deepening engagement with our existing funding partners and developing a pipeline of future funding opportunities designed to spread risk and build for a reliable, realistic income growth over time.

Key Responsibilities

 The successful candidate will:

• Work with the Head of Philanthropy, Trusts and Foundations (P&TF) to develop the Charity’s Trust and Foundations growth strategy ensuring it maximises sustainable net income from both general and restricted Trust and Foundation funding sources, diversifies income and starts to spread income timelines away from a reliance on our Christmas appeal period.
• Work collaboratively across the charity to acquire an excellent knowledge and understanding of SMITFC values and programmes, to inform the creation of bespoke donor materials, cases for support, funding proposals and reports.
• Lead on the creation and submission of bespoke proposals and reports to existing Trusts and Foundations, maintaining accurate development and submission deadlines and excellent records of progress and outcomes on CRM.
• Lead on the cultivation and maintenance of strong relationships with existing funders and trustees, identifying opportunities for key decision makers to become active and engaged in the Charity’s activities, whilst gaining a greater understanding of a project’s long term aims and consequent impact.
• Work in collaboration with the Prospect Researcher to develop a pipeline of new 5-6 figure + Trusts and Foundations prospects able to give within the next 3 years.
• Lead on the bespoke stewardship and engagement of newly identified 5-6 figure + Trusts and Foundations prospects and ensure that submission deadlines are met, and reporting schedules observed.
• Work with the P&TF team to deliver our annual Christmas Appeal – to include the development of the P&TF Christmas Appeal 2025, deliver the annual Christmas Appeal Launch event, and optimize the use of social medial and other platforms to reach potential new funders over the Christmas period and beyond.
• Work with the P&TF team to develop the high value offering for the 100 Anniversary appeal 2026.
• Ensure that resources and budgets are managed effectively and provide Trust and Foundation fundraising financial information as required by the Head of P&TF – including contributing to income risk assessments, identifying gaps or shifts in funding and support contingency planning with the wider P&TF team.
• Ensure accurate records of funding opportunities, donor contact details and prospect research are maintained across CRM and finance systems.
• Work collaboratively with SMITF partner charities to align stewardship, donor asks and maximise income.

Senior Prospect Research Manager

Our step-change in impact with children will be achieved by a step-change in our philanthropy & partnerships: as our new Senior Prospect Research Manager you'll take a crucial role in this transformation through strategic development and delivery of the full Philanthropy Programme prospect identification and pipeline management framework to enable high quality research, cultivation, stewardship of high value philanthropists and partners in support of TCS

Are you an experienced fundraiser, with a track-record of securing high-value strategic gifts, developing relationships, and a desire to end homelessness?

This post can be offered as Full Time (37.5 hours per week), or Part Time (30 hours per week over 4 days).  

We are looking for a Senior Trust and Grants Fundraiser to join the St Mungo’s Trusts and Grants fundraising team, playing a key role in helping raise vital funds for services that support people experiencing and recovering from homelessness to rebuild their lives.

In the role of Senior Trust and Grants Fundraiser you will work closely with a team of four other trust fundraisers. You will play a key role in helping to meet our income target of circa £1.5m in 2025-26 and producing high quality written proposals and reports that reflect the impact of philanthropic support on the people we work with. Other key responsibilities will include:

• Identifying, building and nurturing relationships with prospective charitable trusts and foundations, as well as cultivating relationships with an existing portfolio of funders, securing high-value 5-6 figure gifts from trusts.
• Crafting compelling, tailored funding applications that are aligned with trust interests and giving potential, as well as St Mungo’s mission.
• Reporting on donation impact through written updates and service visits, and collaborating with internal teams.
• Providing line management and support to a Trust Fundraising Officer.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This will include Tuesdays and one other day per week of your choosing. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. About you

We are looking for an experienced trust fundraiser with excellent communication skills, who can build relationships with funders and with colleagues from across the organisation.

• Your strong writing skills will enable you to craft compelling, effective funding proposals and reports that convey the incredible impact that philanthropic support has on the people St Mungo’s supports.
• You will have a proactive approach and demonstrate your organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to think and work strategically, and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.
• Previous line management experience is not necessary, but you will ideally have experience of informally supporting and motivating others and willingness to develop line management skills.

Person specification - essential criteria

About the role

As CEO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure we can support more young musicians across the UK.

This is a hands-on, externally facing leadership role that combines fundraising, advocacy and organisational strategy. You’ll work closely with our committed Board of Trustees, expert Advisory Group and small, passionate staff team to:

• Lead high-value fundraising activity, strengthening and diversifying our income from major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners
• Build partnerships across the music, education, funding and philanthropic sectors
• Increase the charity’s visibility and voice on a national level
• Lead a high-performing, inclusive team culture
• Ensure the charity’s long-term financial sustainability and operational resilience

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for a confident, collaborative and energetic leader with experience working in a small charity environment and a passion for supporting young people and driving social change.

You don’t need to have been a CEO before; this could be your first time stepping into the role. What matters is that you bring the right leadership experience, values and ambition to take Future Talent forward.

You will bring:

• Proven success in delivering significant fundraising results and income growth, particularly with major donors, trusts and foundations and/or corporate partners
• Strong relationship-building skills and experience representing an organisation externally, including to funders and philanthropic partners
• Strategic leadership experience, with the ability to lead organisational growth and change
• A people-centred leadership and management style that fosters inclusion, collaboration and high performance
• Financial and operational acumen

While your background could be in youth, arts, music, education, or another area of the charity sector, a personal interest or hobby in music would be a welcome bonus.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Beacon is now in its second decade and has grown substantially over the last three years, including a rebrand and expansion into international projects. To support this growth, we are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and intuitive Admin & Operations Officer to help ensure the smooth running of our daily activities and core functions.

This varied role spans many aspects of our work, from administration and resource management to supporting the systems and tools that keep Beacon working efficiently. You’ll work across the charity, supporting our executive leadership, projects teams, and fundraising activities, as well as and ensuring colleagues have the information and resources they need to deliver for our beneficiaries.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the charity and in supporting senior staff. As you settle into the role, you’ll have opportunities to develop skills in areas such as financial management, executive support, relationship management, stewardship, or project logistics, depending on your interests and the charity’s needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage of their career, with full training and support provided. You’ll gain experience with a wide range of platforms and processes – from finance tools, databases, and information management – making it a great foundation for building broad, transferable skills in the charity sector. Where possible, you’ll also have the chance to get involved in other aspects of our work, offering valuable insight into how a small but ambitious organisation operates.

We also welcome applications from experienced administrators, operations professionals, or executive assistants. Such candidates may be appointed as Senior Operations Officer, with additional responsibilities and a higher salary.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organisational administration

• Lead on day-to-day operational processes to ensure the efficient running of the organisation.
• Provide executive support to the CEO and COO, including diary coordination, scheduling, and meeting logistics.
• Oversee internal financial processes, including processing expenses and invoices, documenting charity income and outgoings, ensuring accurate record keeping, and liaising with our external accounting team.
• Coordinate team activities such as strategy days, team-building events, and the annual Christmas party.
• Support HR-related processes such as managing staff anniversaries, birthdays, departures, and basic record-keeping.
• Act as liaison between the CEO and Board of Trustees as required.
• Collaborate with building management to ensure smooth operation of office facilities.

Fundraising administration

• Provide administrative support for funding applications and reports, including document preparation and submission.
• Monitor timelines and deadlines for all fundraising-related commitments, ensuring requirements are met.
• Maintain accurate fundraising records, keeping donor and income information up to date in our systems.
• Liaise with fundraising partners, sponsors, and donors as required.

N.B. The fundraising aspect of this role is focused on providing administrative and logistical support. This is not a fundraising position, and applicants are not expected to be responsible for income generation.

Team-wide support

• Monitor and respond to incoming enquiries via phone, email, and the Contact Us form, ensuring timely and professional communication.
• Process and respond to volunteer applications, maintaining accurate records and liaising with applicants as required.
• Manage organisational resources, including internal supplies and external materials, monitoring stock levels and coordinating reorders.
• Provide office management support to ensure a well-functioning, well-resourced working environment.
• Organise team travel arrangements for internal and external events.

Occasional duties

• Provide support in the lead-up to major events with preparation of materials as required.
• Support on-the-day delivery of major events alongside other team members.
• Represent the charity at external events and exhibitions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Desirable

• Previous experience in an administrative, operations, or executive support role.

Experienced candidates

We welcome applications from candidates with proven experience in administration, operations, or executive support roles, who are interested in a Senior Admin & Operations Officer position.

For this level, we are looking for demonstrated competence in  managing complex administrative tasks, coordinating across teams, and supporting senior leadership with minimal supervision. Senior Admin & Operations Officers should be confident in taking initiative, driving improvements, and handling a broader range of responsibilities.

Beacon is a small, tight-knit team, with a friendly atmosphere and strong commitment to our beneficiaries. We aim to give all employees opportunities to pursue their interests, develop their skills, and shape their career path.

We offer flexible working practices to help our staff balance their personal and professional lives, including hybrid working and flexible hours. While our hybrid policy requires all staff to work in the office at least two days per week, the high level of cross-team collaboration, executive support responsibilities, and office management duties involved in the Operations Officer role mean that regular in-person attendance is particularly important.

After the initial in-person onboarding period, we’d like this role to be based in the office for around three days a week on average, though not necessarily every single week, to help maintain effective teamwork and smooth daily operations.

CEO Role Summary:

The CEO provides strategic leadership, ensuring high-quality inclusive arts provision whilst overseeing operations, staff, fundraising, compliance and partnerships. They act as the organisation’s ambassador and contribute to the planning and delivery of both our charitable and business orientated objectives, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic, Leadership and Planning -

· Lead organisation, strategic management and business development

· Develop programmes aligned with community’s needs

· Review and direct a clear business plan with Trustees

· Represent CF at events, in the media and with stakeholders

· Liaise with beneficiaries, Council/NHS staff, Charity Commission, Companies House

Programme and Partnership Oversight -

· Support staff in designing inclusive arts initiatives

· Identify new partnership opportunities

· Lead on events, exhibitions, and partnership development

· Ensure programme quality, legal compliance and impact reporting

People and HR Management -

· Line manage senior staff (Project, Fundraising, Comms, etc.)

· Lead and supervise Salesforce and/or any other appropriate database systems

· Oversee recruitment, performance, training and appraisals

· Implement and update HR policies and procedures (GDPR, Safeguarding, H&S, etc.)

· Foster a positive, inclusive, collaborative staff culture

Fundraising and Communications -

· Lead fundraising strategy, applications with Fundraising Manager and other staff

· Cultivate new relationships with funding bodies and stakeholders

· Represent CF to funders, media, and the public

· Approve marketing and promotional materials

· Attend networking events to explore collaborative funding

Operations and Compliance -

· Oversee facilities, H&S compliance and sustainability

· Incorporate all Charity Commission and Companies House updates

· Maintain tenancy relationship with Barnet Council

· Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Data Protection Officer (ICO)

· Ensure all risk assessments and safeguarding incidents are documented

Finance and Governance -

· Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports

· Oversee financial control, resource efficiency, and long-term planning

· Lead on new business income generation strategies, including art sales

· Report financial and strategic performance to the Board of Trustees quarterly

· Ensure timely delivery of board papers and assist trustees/directors development

Personal Specification

Essential:

- Demonstratable senior leadership experience in arts, community or inclusive sectors

- Strategic, empathetic, and confident leadership

- Proven fundraising, HR, and financial planning experience

- Knowledge of safeguarding, H&S, and regulatory compliance

- Skilled in managing staff, freelancers, and creative practitioners

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills

- Have a creative mindset with a passion for arts and culture

Desirable:

- Experience in London Borough of Barnet or other local networks

- Knowledge of Arts Council England (ACE), DCMS and other major third sector funders

- Experience working with Social Services, plus neurodivergent or disabled communities

- Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion best practices
