As Senior Direct Marketing Officer, you will operate with a level of autonomy, build excellent stakeholder relationships and deliver outstanding fundraising campaigns. A focus on results will be vital but how these are achieved will also form a large part of the role; considering the non-financial measures of quality in addition to more traditional measures of success.
Working with a number of teams and suppliers, you’ll be delivering direct marketing activity through a range of channels and media. The programme is an evolving one with change and growth happening in a lot of interesting areas. Your role will be to help to develop the supporter engagement programme; taking responsibility for long-term projects that will improve the future optimisation of campaigns. You’ll also be responsible for delivering exceptional fundraising campaigns to achieve ambitious income targets.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract, or on return of the substantive postholder, to cover a period of maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities:
Campaign Management
· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels and media.
· Manage projects that will improve the long-term success of campaigns.
· Deliver motivational fundraiser training and develop engaging fundraiser materials with agency stakeholders to ensure high-quality fundraising.
· Ensure compliance and adherence to regulation and codes of practice is considered in all campaign activity. This could include mystery shopping and call listening.
· Work closely with internal stakeholders across multiple teams to ensure effective processes are worked to and full campaign evaluation is possible.
· Continuous improvement through test and learn principles across all activity.
· Integration of campaigns across the charity to drive maximum value.
· Development of compelling communications and materials to support all activities.
People management
· Management and development of the Direct Marketing Executive - Engagement.
· Ensure direct report has clear, SMART objectives and a development plan in place.
· Complete routine 1-1 meetings and annual appraisals.
· Ensure direct report has goals and a development plan written up which are routinely reviewed.
· Agency relationship management across a variety of partners and suppliers, from building relationships and negotiating, to routine performance reviews.
Planning and budgeting
· Input to annual planning and development of individual giving campaigns.
· Support in the compilation of detailed income and expenditure campaign budgets.
· Work with Direct Marketing Manager in developing the Engagement programme and strategy.
· Input to monthly forecasting and regular reporting across a range of financial and non-financial KPIs.
Finance and reporting
· Ensure daily campaign tracking and reporting.
· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis.
· Ongoing reporting on long-term success measures, such as retention, repeat giving and ROI.
· Invoice reconciliation and processing for timely payment.
· Non-financial KPI trend reporting, such as online conversions, email engagement, opt-out/in rates and quality scoring.

Agile - As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

As the Supporter Engagement & Legacy Manager you will play a key role as we seek to reignite our legacy marketing programme and grow overall individual giving income to help ensure long-term support for those facing financial difficulty. Platform’s North Sea Workers’ Transition project is building towards a managed phase-out of oil and gas extraction in the UK North Sea. We’re organising for an energy industry that protects the rights and livelihoods of the current oil and gas workforce and directs wealth back to communities, especially those impacted by industrial change.
We have been working with offshore oil and gas workers and their unions for 5+ years. In 2023, we published a groundbreaking set of 10 demands for a just energy transition away from fossil fuels co-created with offshore workers: Our Power: offshore workers’ demands for a just energy transition. Since publishing the report we have launched public advocacy and media campaigns based on these demands - working alongside industrial trade unions, national and grassroots climate groups, and oil and gas workers. We coordinate a first-of-its-kind coalition of industrial unions and climate groups working together on national worker transition demands.
As living conditions continue to decline and the climate crisis deepens, we are looking for a motivated and creative campaigner, who is able to lead the next stage of the project, and who has a strong understanding of anti-oppression and energy justice.
About the role
The Worker Transition Campaigns Manager will work closely with our Worker Organiser and Public and Community Ownership Campaigner, supported by our Organising and Advocacy Lead, Research Lead and Communications Lead.
You will be responsible for strategising, project managing and delivering the project. Activities will look like:
- Coordinating an existing coalition of climate groups and trade unions, including holding relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders across movements;
- Developing and delivering political advocacy and public campaigns strategies to win Our Power demands - including public ownership of energy - at a UK and Scottish Government level;
- Supporting the work of Platform’s Worker Organiser(s) to build links with energy workers and involve them in media, political meetings and/or campaigning activities.
This post would sit within Platform’s internal collective management structure and would therefore be expected to support the collective management of the organisation in addition to finance and fundraising-related responsibilities. Salary: £36,824.41 for 4 days (32 hours) per week (£46,030.51 FTE) is our baseline salary, adjustable according to our Socially Just Waging System. Terms and conditions apply.

Imperial’s Regular Giving and Legacy team is seeking a coordinator for a 12-month fixed term contract. For this role you will need to show experience of working in a fast paced, target-driven environment. You will bring outstanding written communications skills, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals. This role is a great opportunity for a talented administrator who is looking for a starter role in higher education fundraising, with a view to progressing further in the field.
What you would be doing
Imperial’s Regular and Mid-Level Giving programme seeks philanthropic support up to £50,000 to advance the work of the University. Primarily, the programme focuses on soliciting support from alumni. The Legacy team raises philanthropic income from alumni and friends who leave the gifts in their will. Our programmes raise funds for a variety of projects across the University including bursaries and scholarships, enhancing the student experience and Faculty level support.
Your responsibilities will be wide-ranging, but the key duties are:
- Act as first contact for all fundraising related queries (by telephone, email, post and in person); liaise across the team to draft and send appropriate responses.
- Collect, collate and manage case studies, including building relationships with students.
- Support the telethon fundraising campaigns, direct marketing fundraising appeals, and managing your own fundraising projects such as emails and social media.
- Support the team with general administrative and office duties such as booking meeting rooms.
- Provide diary management and PA support to the Head of Regular Giving and Legacy Giving.
- Support with the team with budgets including raising PO’s and tracking invoices.

- Experience of working in a customer, alumni or donor focused environment
- Outstanding communications (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels

- Methodical approach to work with outstanding attention to detail
- A sound understanding of customer relations databases (CRM) to manage customer/donor data.

We value spending time working in-person to develop strong connections with each other and with our mission, so you will be based at our central London office for a minimum of three days a week if you are full-time (Monday, Tuesday, and either Wednesday or Thursday) with the option to work remotely for the remainder.
