Your experience. Your voice. Your impact.
At Cystic Fibrosis Trust, we believe in a world where everyone with cystic fibrosis (CF), can live a life unlimited — and we’re inviting passionate individuals to join us on this powerful journey.
This is more than a governance role — it’s an opportunity to help guide strategic decisions that impact lives, influence national initiatives, and accelerate progress for a community that deserves nothing less than a brighter future.
Location: Remote / hybrid
Commitment: Flexible, approx. one day per month
Positions available: Multiple
Remuneration: Voluntary (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
About us
Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to uniting for a life unlimited for everyone with CF – one of the most common life-limiting genetic conditions.
Our team of dedicated staff, volunteers, and Trustees works alongside people affected by CF to fund life-changing research, promote world-class clinical care, and provide essential advice and support. We champion a community that is united by strength, compassion, and hope.
Our work relies on the generous donations of our supporters.
About the role
As a Trustee, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our vision, values, and strategic direction, developing our aims, objectives, and goals. Your leadership will help us make decisions that matter, and your voice will help steer us toward a stronger, inclusive future. Trustees typically serve a three-year term, with the option to continue for a second.
This is a voluntary role (unpaid), but reasonable expenses can be claimed for travel to attend meetings in person.
Time Commitment: up to one day a month on average, comprised of preparation for and attending meetings, away days and Trust related activities

The cystic fibrosis community is diverse, encompassing people of all ages and backgrounds. We are committed to ensuring that this diversity is reflected on our Board. We are especially interested in hearing from those with lived experience of CF, disabled individuals, and candidates from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities, as well as LGBTQI individuals. We value fresh perspectives and encourage applications from first-time trustees.

About New Dawn New Day
For over 30 years, New Dawn New Day has supported the wellbeing of women and girls across Leicester and Leicestershire, beginning as a community-based women’s centre in the 1980s.
Today, we specialise in supporting women involved in the Criminal Justice System, providing practical and emotional support tailored to their complex needs. Many of the women we work with have experienced significant trauma, often presenting with diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health conditions. Yet, too many are unable to access the mainstream services they need.
We offer a safe, empowering space where women can heal, rebuild their lives, and regain control of their futures.
About the Role
As Chair, you’ll lead the Board of Trustees to uphold effective governance and guide the charity’s strategic direction. You’ll support and challenge the Board to think ambitiously while fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture.
Working closely with the CEO, you’ll help shape long-term strategy, identify opportunities and risks, and strengthen the relationship between the Board and staff. You’ll also represent the charity externally – advocating and engaging with stakeholders, building strategic partnerships, and acting as a spokesperson when needed.
This is a pivotal opportunity to shape a newly forming Board of Trustees and guide its growth in alignment with our mission to inspire women and their families to change their lives and their communities for the better.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a committed and experienced female leader who shares our passion for women’s social justice. You’ll be able to unite and lead the Board with confidence, providing support, insight, and challenge to help us achieve our goals.
You’ll bring strong governance knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative leadership style. Experience in trauma-informed work is welcome, but more important is empathy, a willingness to learn, and a values-driven approach.
An understanding of small charities, fundraising, charity finance, or employment law would be advantageous, along with a strong network to help raise our profile.
