About us 

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development. 

West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 Squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and overseas in Cyprus. 

Each squadron has a Civilian Welfare Committee, a team of trustees who support the squadron by overseeing governance, fundraising, and building community partnerships. Trustees are vital in ensuring squadrons can continue providing incredible opportunities for cadets.

What’s involved? 

Meetings are structured but friendly, typically every three months for around two hours. A typical agenda includes: 

• Updates from the Chairperson, Treasurer, and Squadron Commander 

• Funding requests and financial decisions 

• Future planning, upcoming events, and key priorities 

• Opportunities to contribute based on your skills and interests 

Beyond meetings, involvement is flexible depending on your availability and expertise.

No military background or youth work experience is required—just enthusiasm, reliability, and a passion for making a difference! 

Opportunities for progression 

Trustees can take on leadership roles within their squadron, support squadrons at sector or wing level, or even contribute to regional and national RAF Air Cadets governance. Some trustees also transition into squadron volunteer roles, working directly with cadets. 

To join us, you’ll need to 

• Be 20 years or older 

• Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years 

• Attend an evening meeting every three months (varies by squadron) 

• Bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to support young people. 

Typical joining process: 

1. Submit an expression of interest. 

2. We’ll invite you to visit your chosen squadron to learn more. 

3. Complete a simple online application if invited. 

4. Undergo a DBS and basic security check. 

This process usually takes a few weeks, depending on availability and checks.

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. That means, our collection volunteers play a important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you'll do

You'll be working together with the rest of the team to raise awareness and funds. you'll be collecting for the vital work the NSPCC does, engaging with the public- promoting a positive image for the NSPCC!

We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle.

• Distribute collection boxes to locations such as cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and small businesses in your local area
• Replace full boxes, counting and banking funds, liaising with your local community team and organising receipts and thank you cards for supporters
• Represent NSPCC in a professional manner
• Share news about our work in the local community and help promote fundraising events and initiatives

What you'll get

We'll support you with advice, skills and tools to help you fundraise and spread the word about the NSPCC. You'll be given a designated point of contact and we'll cover reasonable mileage expenses. Charity Lead  

About NACV 

Our work began 50 years ago with inner city children from the Borough of Lewisham and since then have provided residential, woodland experiences to over 50,000 disadvantaged children and young people. 

Who do we work with? 

Groups generally come and stay for a week or weekend in our Gloucestershire woodland and enjoy being outdoors. We have experience of working with SEN schools from Gloucestershire, London, Birmingham and the West Midlands and Oxfordshire; youth clubs, including XLP (who work across many London boroughs), Harrow Club, and Masbro Club; alternative Provision Services, an education for children who can't go to a mainstream school; and, with disability charities such as Sense and Mencap.

About the role 

We are looking for a Charity lead to work part time, initially part-renumerated /part-voluntary basis.  The role will be at least 2 days per week onsite . 

Renumeration & term - Initially a 6 month contract on a part voluntary basis with the aim that this will be converted to a permanent, fully renumerated position with renumeration commensurate with experience. 

About you

We aim to become an Accredited Museum and to significantly improve the look and feel of the museum, and to become well known in the sport of Badminton.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a number of additional Trustees to actively participate in the achievement of the strategy. We are looking for skills in fundraising, museum operations, financial overview, web and social media, and ideally but not necessarily deep seated knowledge of the sport.

What are we looking for?

Fundraising, museum operations, financial experience, some with a deep knowledge of the sport of Badminton.

What difference will you make?

They will actively participate in the strategic plan, taking leadership in their field of expertise. Its an exciting time for the Museum and will be for the new and existing Trustees. Gaining accreditation itself is a multi-year project involving the creation of policies, and best practice museum processes. Gaining enough funding is a crucial part of the strategy, as is animation of the museum, and significantly improving the public awareness of the museum.

Role Description

This is a part-time, unpaid role for a Chair of Trustees for Equilore, a mental health charity located in Croughton, Northamptonshire. The Chair of Trustees will be responsible for collaborating with other board members to guide and support the organisational mission, developing and maintaining policies and procedures, ensuring financial stability and accountability, monitoring and evaluating organizational performance, and participating in fundraising and strategic planning activities, working closely with the Founding Director.

Qualifications
