The purpose of the charity is to support the Merstham community by delivering services that reflect the needs and ideas of local residents. We are committed to championing community led projects, events and volunteering opportunities, and we strive to foster a sense of belonging, enhance personal development and promote wellbeing.

Our key initiatives are:

Addressing financial hardship by running a food club, hosting a food bank and providing a Community Fridge, using surplus food collected from local supermarkets and making it accesible to local residents, also saving tonnes of food ending up as waste. During the winter we provide a 'warm hub'

Improving Wellbeing including activities to address social isolation for example a community allotment, bee keeping, chatty tables, Craft tables, games evenings and a Cinema Club -aimed at reducing social isolation in the elderly. We have a number of mental health initiatives and have trained 20 Community Champions - who can give basic advice on mental and physical health issues. We organise various community events for example an Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Fayre and Coach outing to the coast.

Community Enablement Signposting to support, including access to Citizens advice, food bank and support groups. Employment support - provided by partners at the Hub to assist path to employment and increase employability. Up-skilling and training of volunteers and Lead volunteers to put skills back into our community, IT support

The Board is currently composed of six trustees and two associate trustees. We employ a manager, four part time office staff and three caretakers who conduct the work of the charity. There are about 60 volunteers and 20 Wellbeing Champions involved in the Hub, carrying out activities such as IT support, reception duties, Repair cafe etc. During the winter months we run a 'Warm Hub' where people of reduced means can receive a cup of tea, biscuits and a friendly welcome.

 As Chairman of the Board of Trustees you will play a vital role in shaping the future direction of the charity, and securing it's success in challenging the social inequalities faced by the community of Merstham.

We are looking for volunteers to join the food bank team. This could include warehouse volunteering, being a driver's mate, administration or volunteering at supermarket collections. There are multiple roles available, from as little as 1 hour a day.

Why we want you

Local groups across the UK are run by volunteers and offer friendship and support to people living with Parkinson's and their families and friends. The friendly faces and warm welcome provided by support group helpers means attendees get the most from the group, with the activities on offer running smoothly.

What you will be doing

• Welcome new people when they come along to activities for the first time
• Promote the group and Parkinson's UK in your community
• Help setting up and clearing up after group meetings - supporting other volunteers during busy periods
• Assist at events, which may include serving refreshments, handling registrations and raffles

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. There is an expectation to regularly attend training meetings at Preston, Lancaster or Kirkham (2 per month). Complete relevant training for including a 2 day training course.

We are looking to run volunteering selection sessions throughout August, September, October and November. You will chose a selection event that suits you to take place in Kirkham, Preston and Lancaster

If you are successful you will need to attend a face to face 2 day training course and online training & a Welcome Event (Induction) - Dates to be confirmed.

Irise International is at a pivotal and exciting moment in our journey to achieve menstrual justice.

We are a small but globally respected charity based in Sheffield, working across the UK and East Africa to end menstrual injustice by shifting power to young activists and grassroots leaders. Our work is bold, inclusive, and grounded in lived experience. From launching youth-led policy tools in UK schools to co-hosting pan-African feminist gatherings, we amplify the voices of people who menstruate in spaces they’ve historically been excluded from.

We’ve just launched our 2025–2030 strategy and are entering a crucial phase of development. We’re building new income streams, deepening youth leadership, and evolving into a post-founder organisation under new leadership. Photographic experience is essential, as is having your own equipment. In addition, we would love our volunteer to share our passion for One Medicine.

What we want from you

The volunteer photographer/videographer will produce a portfolio of high quality, varied and creative images or video clips from the events that will capture the atmosphere of the day. After the event, you will undertake any editing needed and then share the completed portfolio with us. The images will be used for promotional purposes, so it’s a great chance to build your portfolio and share your photography.

Previous experience is not essential as we’ll give you all the training you need. Really, you just need to be a friendly person who is happy to get stuck in, reliable and good at using your initiative.

Liverpool Spooky Welly Walk

The Spooky Welly Walk is creeping back into Sefton Park for another fang-tastic year! One of Merseyside’s most boo-tiful Halloween traditions, this ghostly gathering brings thousands of families together for a day of tricks, treats, and spooky surprises.

Join us if you dare...  We’re summoning all volunteers, witches, werewolves, and wizards alike to help make this year's walk the most spooktacular yet! Even if you can't commit to the full hours, let us know and we’ll conjure up a shift that works for you. 

Roles Include:
- Manning frightfully fun activities like the Yucky Dip and Terrifying Tattoos
- Creepy crowd control (aka stewarding)
- Guiding families through the haunted happenings
- Answering questions from curious creatures and goblins

The day zooms by faster than a broomstick ride —thanks to the endless parade of costumed kiddos and their families! Expect an atmosphere charged with giggles, ghouls, and giddy excitement.
