Opportunity Overview

GHRI is seeking experienced volunteer grant writers to join our mission. By helping us secure funding, you will directly contribute to strengthening healthcare systems and expanding programs that save lives. This role is remote, flexible, and has no fixed hours — you can contribute anytime you are free.

Responsibilities

Research and identify local and international funding opportunities.

Draft persuasive and compelling grant proposals.

Collaborate with GHRI’s team to collect program data and success stories.

Assist in donor communications and reporting.

Qualifications

At least 1 year of grant writing experience.

Strong writing, editing, and research skills.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Passion for global health, humanitarian impact, and nonprofit development.

We are seeking trustees with the following skills, to help us end poverty for older people across the UK:

What will you be doing?

You would be joining a strong, experienced Board who are working together with our dedicated charity staff to tackle poverty in later life.

As we head into 2026, the final year of our current strategy period, we will continue to build on the strong foundations we've established, with the expectation that a new strategy will be approved at our September 2026 Board meeting. 

As well as being Board members, trustees generally serve on at least one of our Board committees.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking trustees who are concerned about the growing impact of poverty in later life on our society, and can bring us any of the following skills : finance, fundraising, brand / marketing / engagement, business development / transformation / innovation / technology. 

We particularly encourage applications from people who have backgrounds, characteristics or perspectives that align with the priority groups we have identified (please see pack).

What difference will you make?

Like all charities, we are run by a Board of Trustees that sets our overall direction. Our trustees also provide detailed oversight of our fundraising, finance, risk, investments, governance, impact services and policy work through Board committees. 

Our Community Volunteers will work alongside our County Representatives to support our Fundraising Team by being the public face of Combat Stress in their local county, and will help build support from individuals and groups by raising awareness and funds. Income generation is key to our continued success and the support of volunteers enables us to raise more funds to support former servicemen and women, so that when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to help them take on the future. 

• A full induction to Combat Stress and its work, including training an appropriate materials to support you in the role.

Once we have completed your selection and screening for this role, we will provide you with an induction, as well as invite you to any necessary training sessions. Volunteer Bid Writer – Children With Voices

Position Overview:

Children With Voices, a dynamic and community-driven charity committed to supporting vulnerable individuals and families, is seeking a motivated and skilled Volunteer Bid Writer. This role is instrumental in securing funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to ensure the continuous growth and success of the charity's initiatives.

Responsibilities:

1. Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:

  - Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources, grants, and partnership opportunities aligned with Children With Voices' mission and projects.

2. Proposal Development:

  - Collaborate with the charity's leadership team to gather information on projects and programs requiring funding.

  - Develop compelling and well-articulated grant proposals, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and requirements.

  - Craft persuasive narratives that effectively communicate the impact of Children With Voices' activities.

3. Grant Application Submission:

  - Prepare and submit grant applications within specified deadlines, adhering to all application guidelines and requirements.
