What will you be doing?
New College Durham is looking for volunteers to join its Board of Governors and use their personal and professional knowledge and experience to shape the strategic direction of the College.
The Board is responsible for the success of the College. Its role is to establish a vision, mission and strategy, provide financial oversight, hold the College’s senior leaders to account for the quality of education and ensure risks are managed appropriately. As a Governor you will support and challenge our executive management team and help the Board make decisions that will impact on student achievement, their longer-term outcomes and the future direction and growth of the College. We want people who bring new ideas, strategic thinking, are willing to ask questions and speak their mind - we are ambitious, dynamic and forward focused and we hope you are too.
This voluntary role offers great opportunities for personal and professional development. We will work with you to align your expertise and interests with the Board’s needs. You will receive ongoing training, have access to a mentor and be reimbursed for expenses. You would be expected to attend six corporation meetings throughout the year, one or two committee meetings per term and the Annual Strategic Planning Day. Commitment:

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for people to join our Board with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Finance – you might be a qualified accountant and have a background in finance and audit so that you can provide vital skills to help the Board oversee our financial management. An understanding of charity accounts and regulations would absolutely be an advantage.

Marketing & Communications – we want to reach new audiences to ensure a diverse and inclusive approach, and we are aiming to do that at scale. You may have experience of providing strategic support for increasing our reach and visibility.

Marine Conservation - you might have environmental knowledge, ideally on the marine environment, with policy and/or practical experience of conservation. A network of contacts across the marine sector, particularly with business or government, would be an advantage.
What you can bring to our Board can be just as interesting as where you’ve been working. You do not need to have previous charity trustee experience, but you will need to be comfortable participating at a senior level with complex discussions and the need to be comfortable making pragmatic but key decisions.

We are a new organisation forged from two ambitious charities: Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation. Our single, unifying mission is to save sight and change lives.

THE MERGER
Fight for Sight funds breakthrough research and life-changing services to build a more equitable future for blind and partially sighted people by accelerating breakthroughs in multiple sight loss conditions.

OUR FUTURE
Our principal role is as a grant-maker. We award grants to the scientific community that could lead to scientific breakthroughs and treatments to stop eye diseases from progressing. In the future, we believe research can prevent people from losing sight and reverse sight loss. We invest to advance treatments that will cure eye disease and protect and grow the community of world-class scientists, technologists, and data scientists who can deliver tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Historically, Vision Foundation has funded innovations that directly impact people who are blind or partially sighted, from music classes for children to projects that take eye tests into at-risk communities. We invest in programmes, organisations and activities that deliver equity for and with blind and visually impaired people.
As a grant-maker, we are change-makers, accelerators and drivers of impact. We are bold, energetic, challenging, disruptive, tenacious, and determined.
We aren’t afraid to tackle the challenges facing the sight loss community, either. Recent campaigns include The Unseen, which unearthed the shocking scale and nature of domestic abuse among blind and partially sighted people, and See My Skills, which addressed high unemployment rates. The charity excels at working in partnership with others towards creating a more equitable society for the sight loss community.
As we progress, we’ll scale the impact of projects like these, look beyond the nation’s capital, and drive systemic change. We’ll need to secure the funds to invest in our trusted partners to achieve our ambitions. We’ll continue to fundraise by engaging with supporters and companies through legacies, events such as the London Marathon, and our network of charity shops.

OUR FINANCES
The charity is in a strong position financially, with a high level of reserves that we intend to draw down over the coming years as we focus on investing in sustainable growth and increasing our impact. Compared to many charities, we
have well diversified income streams, predictable costs, and are in the fortunate position to hold a sizable portfolio of investments. Our plans for the short and medium term are to invest in our income generation infrastructure, and to significantly increase the amounts of funding we can put to our charitable purpose.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Remuneration
This role is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although reasonable expenses may be claimed.
Time commitment

This is an exciting opportunity for a volunteer artistic director to work with our talented and enthusiastic company of young people for the academic year September 2024 - July 2025 to put on Matilda the Musical JR, with two separate casts.
A Brief History of the Spa Theatre Company
The Company was initially founded in 1982 as a young people’s group. From 1982 to 1991, the group remained as a young people’s organisation (the upper age limit being 18). In 1991, the view was that the Company should be more ambitious, by lifting the age limit. As of today, the Company retains the Junior section, but the Senior Company is on hold and the Junior Company is going from strength to strength.
The Director Position – Junior Company
The role advertised is that of Director for the Junior Company.
The Junior Company is a registered charity and a “teaching” organisation. Its primary aim is to offer a high standard of teaching in speech, drama, music and dance. It has its own Director, Musical Director and Choreographer. The academic year consists of three terms, commencing in September each year. The academic year includes the public performance of a musical at a local theatre, usually in April/May.
It should be noted that the advertised post is for the Director of the Company, for an entire academic year, and is not a “show only” post. It is intended that the post will be permanent, subject to a high standard of performance, reviewed on an annual basis.
The Commitment
The members of the Junior Company are aged 8 to 17. Entry is by audition. They meet on Tuesday evenings during term time between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. For the annual production, we may need to call for additional rehearsals on Sunday afternoons between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. These rehearsals will take place for typically 6 Sundays in a year, with the timing being dependent on the date of the show.During show week, the expectation is that the production team will be present for the full week, from 'get in' to 'technical rehearsals', through the shows and for 'get out'.
Key Attributes
The Director must have the ability to coach and train young people of varying ability. They must be flexible, and adapt teaching styles.
Candidates must be, or become, DBS checked and it would be helpful if they had been teacher trained. The Tuesday sessions must be well planned and prepared, and candidates will need to work well with both Choreographer and Musical Director. It should be stressed that the youngsters gain educational values on Tuesday evenings and that they must be in a learning experience situation.
Duties
The Director reports directly to the Committee of Spa Theatre Company.
The Director will:

have qualifications appropriate to the needs of children up to the age of 17

understand that there is a wide range of ability within the group and adapt training styles appropriately;

have to work closely with the Choreographer and MD, recognising the inclusive nature of decision-making;

need to demonstrate an ability to relate to all ages and to show enthusiasm and encouragement.
The duties, organised on an academic year basis to suit the children will comprise:

attending weekly training sessions, on a Tuesday evening in a school in Warwick, from 6.30 – 8.30 during school terms only (for the purposes of general training of the junior members). This will typically comprise 36 sessions over the course of the academic year;

teaching a relatively mixed range of ability, so adapting teaching styles, by rote if necessary;

preparing children for a “showcase concert” to demonstrate to parents what the children have learnt – but children often perform things they have learnt outside, e.g solo guitar performances, or a dance;

Liaising with the Musical Director and Choreographer to ensure the smooth running of the Junior Company

Remuneration
The Spa Theatre Company is a Registered Charity for its work in the tuition of young people. This is a volunteer role, with a small honorarium.
The honorarium for the post is subject to negotiation and will be related to the experience of the candidate, it is expected to be a fixed amount up to a sum in the order of £1,200, paid as a single instalment at the end of the Summer term. The Committee reserves the right to adjust the fee proportionately for unfulfilled sessions and unexplained absences. The sum is paid tax-free, as remuneration for expenses.
Supervision
The committee is considering retaining the services of the existing production team in a part-time supervisory capacity, again dependent on the experience of the candidate. The newly-appointed person will benefit from that experience, but the detailed arrangements will be discussed at interview.

The Countryside Regeneration Trust is seeking new trustees to help to steer the charity forward at a very exciting time. Our plans for the next ten years will involve greater engagement with local communities around our larger farms in Cambridgeshire, Herefordshire, Dorset and south-east England. We are also stepping up agroecological approaches to land management, with nature at the heart of food production. This includes new activities to restore nature where opportunities exist to do so.
Helping to manage a national charity is not for the faint hearted. Trustees must make important decisions, be prepared to face challenges and be confident in overseeing the management of the organisation – its finances, staffing, policies and other work that is vital for delivering the charity’s objectives. As a national charity, the CRT is supported by a team of staff, contractors and tenant farmers who undertake the day-to-day work of the organisation. Terms of Appointment
• Attendance at least 75% of Board of Trustee meetings, in Central London or Cambridge, (plus online options). These meetings are normally held once per quarter.
• Trustees work collaboratively the CEO and senior leadership team, in working groups and committees. Typically, these committees will meet 4-6 times a year. These meetings are mostly online; new trustees will join two of these committees.
• Occasional further contribution to provide mentoring, advice, and guidance.
• Trustees are elected for a term of three years, which may be renewed for one further three-year term.

Position Overview
Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this post will provide support to the WASH and Schools projects implemented by the NGO. The successful candidate will work within a combined national and international team to assist in the development of projects, from initial planning stages to final evaluations.
Primary responsibilities include the writing of donor reports and proposals, providing additional support to the project team surrounding project management and monitoring and evaluation. The role is predominantly office-based with some bush travel. Duties and responsibilities:
- Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the WASH and Education infrastructure projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information
- Compile funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion and International best practice in an engaging and professional manner
- Conduct internet searches and searches through SEED’s funder database for potential donors to fund projects
- Take a leading role in gathering statistics and ensure that all existing statistics relating to the projects are accurate
- Work alongside the Communications and Media Officer writing regular Facebook, blog posts and website copy
- Support the development of projects that fulfill local need and sit within the aims of SEED taking into account research findings, local needs and constraints, government objectives and SEED’s previous experience
- Conduct research into international best practice with regard to Community Health, WASH and Education infrastructure programmes and take the lead in discussing these with the team

Role Summary
We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees who will offer strategic and supportive leadership to our highly effective, collaborative and committed Board. Chair role & responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that Glass Door achieves its mission with the interests of Glass Door's guests at its centre.
Work collaboratively with the CEO, staff and volunteers to achieve our mission and optimise the relationship between the Board and Glass Doors's staff and volunteers.
Provide leadership within the Board, ensuring that it fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation and promoting governance among fellow Trustees, providing clarity around boundaries between governance, management and operations.
Plan and chair the bi-monthly board meetings and the AGM, with colleagues as appropriate and liaise with the CEO, Company Secretary and Governance Trustee with regard to setting up meetings, agenda items and annual report content.
Facilitate meetings ensuring all have equal involvement in discussions, clarifying any uncertainties, confirming decisions made and actions to be taken and ensuring effective time management of meetings whilst providing appropriate periods of discussion and reflection.

Support Glass Door functions and events eg attendance at supporter events.

CHEM Trust focuses its work on preventing this pollution. We bring together science and policy to identify the chemicals that need to be controlled and the best way to do this. We collaborate closely with other environmental and health groups to drive this positive change for people and nature.
Our main area of attention is at the EU level. Even though many improvements are needed, the EU is the region that has the most effective chemicals policy system and EU regulations shape other regulatory systems around the world. We do this work in association with our German partner, CHEM Trust Europe eV, as well as EU-wide groups such as the European Environment Bureau.
We also work in the UK, to keep us closely aligned with the EU system. At the global level we work to deliver improvements to global chemicals management, inspired and informed by the work already done at the EU level.
Since 2007, we have shaped chemicals policies, and are seen as trusted partners. We have a good reputation with experts, scientists, other charities, and industry. Many of our wonderful funders recognise the unique and vital work that we do and support us year in and year out.
We have grown considerably in recent years and now employ an amazing team of 12 people in the UK and a group of experts within the EU.

TST is an independent inspection body for our UKAS accredited service standards for specialist sexual violence organisations.
We provide an accredited Diploma for Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) and CPD accredited workshops. We have also established a quality mark for educational establishments and corporate organisations, our Trauma Informed Educator and Trauma Informed Employer Quality Marks (TIE).
