Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the Human Relief Foundation’s goals. This role requires strong leadership abilities and a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles.

Person Specification

• Must hold a professional accountancy qualification: ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as point of contact and spokesperson for all financial aspects of the charity and a trading subsidiary company;

• Providing complete and parallel financial accounting services to the charity and it’s trading subsidiary arm, maintaining proper records of all financial activities, and reconciling any inter-company issues between the charity and it’s trading arm;

• Implementation & administration of a Pension Plan for both the charity and the subsidiary as and when required;

• Providing financial expertise, leadership and high quality support to the management team in the UK and our international offices;

• Dealing with all queries and compliance issues relating to HMRC, Charity Commission and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator;

• Preparing quarterly reports for management and trustees and presenting these to management or the board of trustees;

• To ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information including budgets and forecasts;

• Maintain income sheets of revenue including standing orders and any other monthly revenue such as grants or other payments;

• Integrating Sage, QuickBooks with existing internal charity databases.

Maintaining separate records and reconciliations for

• Restricted or ring fenced donations or grants for specific projects;

• Funds raised through specific fundraising events or for specific projects (including setting up and managing separate budgets and expense controls for each).

Managing and administering

• All day to day incoming & outgoing amounts, banking and cash flow handling and settling all approved invoices and expense claims;

• Payroll for the Charity office staff and the Charity shop employees through the subsidiary;

• Outgoing payments for the UK offices and making International payments;

• Receipt of payments and making payments, in the UK and for projects Internationally in the field whilst maintaining separate budgets and records and liaising where necessary with International Programmes Department and other relevant departments;

• You will be responsible for the management and development of the small team of finance staff in the UK and internationally. Completion of all relevant quarterly, annual and other statutory compliance requirements for both the charity and its subsidiary, including

• Preparation and submission of quarterly Gift Aid returns and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC;

• Preparation of annual end of year accounts, filings and documentation for annual audits;

• Filing all relevant records with HMRC, Inland Revenue, Charity Commission, and Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator;

• Maintaining all relevant records and implementing changes to existing handling of records as required for compliance purposes.

ACCT UK is a national youth charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people through supporting the Army Cadet Force and its activities in the community. The Combined Cadet Force Association (CCFA) is a charity dedicated to the promotion of the ideals and activities of the Combined Cadet Force in schools. The Finance Manager will play a crucial role for the organisation, with responsibility for the charity’s finance function including day-to-day management and book-keeping as well as providing strategic support for the CEO. You will produce quarterly management reports in line with YCAT’s reporting framework, create project budgets and reports for funders, prepare the annual statutory financial statements and lead the relationship with the charity’s external auditors.

This role requires practical, hands-on experience of delivering the wide range of finance and accounting services required by a small business or charity; an excellent understanding of Accounting Principles; a knowledge of charity SORP and charity statutory accounting are highly desirable; solid experience of the audit and preparation of annual financial accounts are essential; you must already hold a full qualification in either AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA; practical experience of preparing management and statutory reports is required; and experience of advising senior leadership on finance matters to inform strategic planning.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Mass Fundraising, you will lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of our Gifts in Wills and In Memory programmes. You’ll shape strategies that drive sustainable income growth, ensure operational excellence, and deliver exceptional stewardship for supporters, families and executors.

You will oversee all aspects of legacy marketing, legacy administration and in-memory giving, ensuring compliance, accuracy and sensitivity in this specialist area. You will also provide clear reporting and forecasting to track performance and identify future income opportunities. Working collaboratively across the charity, you’ll embed best practice, enhance supporter journeys and maximise long-term income opportunities.

As a senior leader, you will guide and develop a skilled team of five, championing a culture of collaboration, learning and data-led decision-making.

About You

You’ll be a strategic, compassionate and resourceful leader with a strong background in legacy fundraising, legacy administration and/or in memory giving. You’ll bring both technical expertise and emotional intelligence — able to oversee sensitive stewardship activity, manage complex matters confidently and influence stakeholders at all levels.

• Significant experience in legacy fundraising, legacy administration and/or in memory giving

The Role

Finance

• Responsible for processing all income in SAGE from various platforms reconciling income to bank statements.
• Responsible for processing monthly/annual journal and accruals

The Royal British Legion is recruiting for an experienced Supporter Care Manager to lead their supporter care team. This a key role which is responsible for ensuring that every supporter that contacts the organisation receives a positive and memorable experience. Based in London this important role will oversee the day to day running of the supporter care function providing operational leadership and guidance to team members and ensuring that high standards are maintained and continuously improved.

Key responsibilities: 

• Manage the in-house supporter care function which includes enquiries, complaint handling, processing and thanking of donations and Gift Aid declarations 

• Support in the development of annual operating plans and budgets, working with key stakeholders to ensure Supporter Care meets the objectives of the Fundraising department 

• Provide day to day line management, including one to ones, tailored personal development plans, mentoring, coaching and shadowing, as appropriate 

• Continually drive efficiency, innovation and quality of processes and services delivered by the team

Experience and Skills 

• Previous experience of management or leadership of supporter care/customer service within the charity or non-profit sector 

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to implement high levels of supporter care and continuously improve standards 

• Experience of dealing with complex customer queries, requests and complaints

The Role 
 
We are currently looking for a Deputy Superstore Manager to join our Retail, Services and Operations team to launch and manage our new Superstore in York. 

As Deputy Superstore Manager, you will support the launch and daily management of our new York Superstore, working closely with the Superstore Manager and stepping in during their absence. You will manage a large and varied team, including Department Team Leaders, Superstore Assistants, and volunteers. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate accounting and asset management, delivering excellent customer service, and upholding all charity policies and procedures.

You will lead by example and ensure that employees, volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond. 

You will need to be committed to creating a welcoming professional atmosphere and demonstrating the values of Yorkshire Cancer Research. You will also be a passionate and enthusiastic ambassador for the charity and its work. 
 

Specifically, you will be responsible for: 

• Leading on visual merchandising and display to create a welcoming and inspiring shopping experience that reflects our brand and values. 

• Ensuring efficient stock management and generation, so our shop floor is full of high-quality, desirable items that attract customers. 

• Maintaining impeccable shop standards and ensuring the store layout supports both customer engagement and operational efficiency. 

• Supporting all aspects of store operations, including opening and closing procedures. 

• Supporting the Superstore Manager in implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards. 

• Building relationships and working closely with wider functions across the charity such as Facilities, Marketing, Volunteer, and social media teams to ensure the plans are fulfilled and executed. 

• Assist the management of effective stockroom systems to ensure smooth processing and redistribution of donations, including identifying high-value or surplus stock for resale through online marketplaces or other Yorkshire Cancer Research stores. 

• Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. 

• Assisting in meeting the Superstore’s financial targets by helping to maximise sales, manage costs effectively, and ensure the shop operates profitably. 

• Engaging with the local community and businesses to secure donations, build partnerships, and promote the charity. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to A Level or equivalent or have experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development. 

• Experience of successfully managing, motivating, and supporting large, varied teams, fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute their best. 

• Experience of exceeding targets within a retail environment. 

• The ability to take full accountability for the financial performance of a retail operation, with a keen eye for opportunities to maximise income and efficiency. 

• Experience of handling large volumes of stock and maintaining high standards, even in fast-paced situations. 

• To be comfortable with digital systems and able to quickly adapt to new systems, processes, and tools to support the smooth running of operations.

KEY PURPOSE:

We are seeking to appoint a Finance Manager, who will be integral to supporting the charity through an exciting period of change and development. This is a new role, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to refine the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparation of monthly Management Accounts, including stock returns.
• Prepare key account reconciliations and review those carried out by the Finance team to ensure completeness.
• Preparing Gift Aid returns.
• Administrating RABI’s payment providers.
• Administering legacies in conjunction with the Fundraising Department.
• Management of payroll.
• Administration of VAT returns for the Trading Subsidiary.
• Reviewing and authorising weekly payment runs.
• Documenting processes and procedures.
• Liaise with other departments as required, with particular reference to County Committees.
• Provide cover for the Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable administrators when required.
• Day-to-day administration of the Finance System.
• Assisting with year-end processing and audit.
• Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets.

PERSON SPECIFCATION:

Essential

• Experience of working with charity finance.
• Payroll experience.

Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (DCF) is the Governing Body for recreational cricket in Derbyshire, delivering services in support of the cricket community across the county.  It is one of 39 County Cricket Boards/Foundations in England & Wales and works in partnership with a number of key stakeholders to develop the recreational game locally in line with the strategy developed by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
