Pulmonary fibrosis (lung scarring) describes a group of interstitial lung diseases where the lungs become progressively stiffer and smaller, eventually leading to low oxygen levels in the blood. Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) affects around 70,000 people in the UK. Progressive pulmonary fibrosis is a life-limiting disease. While trends in life expectancy are improving, no one can tell an individual exactly how long they will live, making our work hugely urgent for our community.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the leading national charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals affected by pulmonary fibrosis (PF). We are a nationwide charity with a remote-based team and an HQ in Peterborough. Our VISION is to STOP pulmonary fibrosis in its tracks. Established in 2013 by people affected by PF, carers, and healthcare professionals, APF funds support programs (by far the major part of our work), invests in global research and supports other research initiatives, campaigns for improved care and diagnosis, and raises awareness of these diseases. Our pioneering efforts have transformed the landscape of PF awareness and care standards, empowering people and advancing research.
As our next CEO, you will champion the centring of people, drive strategic growth, foster existing and new partnerships, and enhance our fundraising efforts. Leading a dedicated team, you will shape and execute a dynamic five-year strategy, prioritising impactful initiatives to improve the well-being of people. This includes expanding outreach, enhancing care pathways, and influencing transformative change in partnership with stakeholders. About the role:
This fundraiser will work closely with the Heads of Departments and academics in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. The post will focus primarily on funding for research, academic posts, scholarships and infrastructure related to Neuroscience which includes Mental Health and neurological disease (e.g. Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Epilepsy). The fundraiser will work on special projects including the possible major capital redevelopment of the Warneford site. While an interest in medical research and neuroscience is essential, you do not need to be a sciences graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

NRPF Partnership
The NRPF partnership was set up in 2023 and is being developed by Citizens UK, Migration Exchange, and Praxis. We are working to build the necessary infrastructure for collaboration across a range of organisations, amplify their work, and build power to win change against the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) condition. Each partner contributes staff capacity and will work closely with the appointed person to ensure a positive, professional and supportive culture. The Partnership centres around:
1) Placing decision-making power and strategic vision in the hands of people doing the work
(frontline staff and people with lived experience), via a steering group and working groups.
2) Establishing a strategic pooled fund so that the steering group has sufficient budget to guide the collaboration, act, identify and seize political opportunities, and facilitate active participation of everyone involved.
3) Expanding the movement and building power, using incremental wins to build towards broader change towards the goal of ending NRPF.
The Person and the Role
100,000s people in our communities have put down roots in the UK but are denied access to the welfare safety net (No Recourse to Public Funds).
Citizens UK has worked with Migration Exchange and Praxis to raise over £2m to develop a 5 year partnership to enable the movement to end NRPF.
This Senior Project role will be a core part of the support to the steering group of the partnership to make sure it runs effectively and achieves its potential.

Smile Train seeks a collaborative, innovative, and entrepreneurial professional for the role of Director of Fundraising, Smile Train UK. Primary responsibilities
- The Director is responsible for managing, hiring, and effectively leading the fundraising team towards the achievement of their individual targets.
- Maintains a portfolio of major donors and prospects by creating and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to make 5- and 6-figure annual gifts and 6- and 7-figure leadership gifts.
- The position demands experience with designing fundraising strategies and good management skills for implementing strong, prioritised and focused work plans that achieve (or exceed) the agreed organisational goals.
- Overall responsibility of the annual revenue budget, ensuring reporting requirements as defined by the VP, International Development for monthly, quarterly, and annual budget and target monitoring.
- This position shall work in tandem with the global communications team to jointly create a positive, campaign-driven image of Smile Train in the United Kingdom.
- Manage Philanthropic Advisory Council of high-level Smile Train supporters.
Experience
- Minimum seven years' experience in senior level fundraising, ideally in a leadership role with oversight over end-to-end execution.
- Knowledge of individual, corporate, foundation and major donor fundraising methodology including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and prospecting of donors.
- Proven track record in leading fundraising and delivering income growth within a similar sized organization.
- Experience in a marketing and public relations role a plus.
Skills Required
- Minimum undergraduate university degree.
- Strong analytical skills, database proficiency and outstanding budgetary and financial skills, including target setting and monitoring and proficiency in Excel.
- Knowledge and/or experience in marketing, fundraising acquisition, development and retention methods and budget management.

- As directed, manage relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting that meets their needs. This will include drafting the funder newsletter (bi-monthly) and providing new materials, such as reports, films, audits, etc.
- Draft funding proposals and monitor all deadlines for reporting, planning for the timebound and efficient delivery, and working with team members to ensure the highest quality reports are drafted in good time.
- Organise a monthly meeting with the directors and COO to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.
- Take the lead in preparing government grant applications, liaising with colleagues for information and finessing draft texts.
- Maintain the grant database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.
- Maintain the grants calendar, ensuring you are aware of reporting deadlines and other priority needs well in advance and ensuring no deadlines are missed. The role will take a proactive lead and coordinate as required.
- Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Assist in crafting presentations to funders and, as required, work with the comms team to develop films or other materials.

The Regional Change & Deployment Manager is a role sitting within the Change and Deployment Team that has been created to deliver a number of high priority projects implementing new systems and business processes across Save the Children International (SCI)’s 55 country offices.
The Regional Change Manager has responsibility for managing the change & deployment activities for these priority projects across a number of locations. They are responsible for ensuring all key office stakeholders understand the C&D methodology and its application, facilitating and supporting the offices with each project rollout and consolidation, ensuring active office engagement and ownership to achieve a successful implementation.
For 2024/25 the role will be responsible for completing change and deployment activities relating to the implementation of a new operating model for Save the Children as well as the automation of key business processes such as cash and voucher assistance.
This will include supporting a designated portfolio of country offices across the ESA (East & Southern Africa) and WCA (West & Central Africa) regions. At least 40% of the time is expected to be spent travelling to support country offices.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Demonstrated experience and capability of leading, facilitating and influencing change and the delivery of major projects affecting business processes and systems in the field
- Proven ability to work in a large complex and highly networked matrix organisation and influence through ‘soft power’
- Previous experience of, and highly effective in, the guiding and coaching of others towards successful delivery
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to engage stakeholders
- Knowledge and experience of working within a standardised project methodology
- A strong results orientation and proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills, fluent in written and spoken both English and French
- Competent in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Willingness and ability to travel within the region for circa 40%

Desirable
- Prior experience within an INGO
- A third language – either Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.
We can offer circa £58,000 per annum (If based in the UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National Terms & Conditions (including pay and benefits) will apply.
This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
