About this exciting opportunity

Working as an integral part of the ED Navigator team, our successful candidate will identify and assess young victims of violence and provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment, advice, referral and support service, exploring innovative and effective ways of supporting them which will reduce their risk of re-victimisation.

You will produce support and risk management plans based on assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process, and deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, which will include providing practical help such as social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options and appearing in court. We will also count on you to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies and to close cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for ongoing support.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families

• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team

• Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services

• Substantial experience of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people

• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one

• A knowledge of relevant services for young people and their families in the service provision area

• First-class interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

The University of Essex in partnership with Mid and North Essex Mind offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to co-produce and implement data-led impact evaluation tools and a community needs assessment framework based on the Theory of Change model for mental health services, leading to improved outcomes for individuals and the wider voluntary and community sector.

DUTIES OF THE POST

This is a full-time, fixed term for 30 months. The position is fixed term due to being part of a government funded innovation programme, however there may be potential to continue in employment with the company partner following the completion of the KTP.

The duties of the post will include:

• Co-producing and implementing data-led impact evaluation tools and a community needs assessment framework, grounded in the Theory of Change model, to support improved mental health outcomes.

• Developing and piloting tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting—such as Power BI dashboards, stakeholder feedback mechanisms, and longitudinal tracking systems.

• Leading the creation of a scalable follow-up review tool to track long-term service user outcomes and support strategic decision-making.

• Producing high-quality research outputs, including academic publications, conference presentations, and a final project report.

KEY REQUIREMENTS (Essential Criteria)

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Psychology, Social Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health Nursing, or a similar discipline

• An MBA or an MSc in Business and Management, Psychology, Social Psychology (or nearing completion) or a similar discipline, or equivalent level of experience

• Experience of balancing the needs and priorities of a range of stakeholders

About this key role
As our Support Worker, you will support the promotion of the project, both internally and externally, and the achievement of project targets for engagement and progression onto training, employment and other outcomes for the Young Adults with Complex Emotional Needs (YACEN).  You will maintain accurate and timely client records and evidence of all achieved outcomes according to programme requirements and as required by the funders, while also building excellent relationships with local authorities, voluntary organisations, mental health services, schools/colleges and other services across Bedfordshire.

We will rely on you to develop contacts and liaise with external agencies to develop positive working relationships, enabling effective referrals of participants and developing progression opportunities, plus deliver Transition Life Skills sessions to a cohort of young people.  Actively promoting gender equality and involving the people we serve, and looking to address some of the unique issues faced by minority groups, including ensuring accessible resources in multiple formats (e.g. easy read, different languages) and working with specialist community groups are also key duties.
 
What we are looking for

• The ability to engage and holistically support young adults who face multiple and complex barriers to employment, including complex emotional needs such as a diagnosed personality disorder
• In-depth knowledge and awareness of the issues faced by the client group in accessing and sustaining employment and methods that result in positive outcomes
• The ability to engage and build positive relationships with employers to support both employees and employers and encourage improvements to the quality of employment
• The ability to work to targets and record information to enable effective monitoring of performance against targets
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written
• A professional, collaborative and flexible approach to your work

We are looking for an Advocacy Director (temporary position to cover maternity leave) to join our team.  The Director of Advocacy plays a key role in influencing UK government decision-making around preventing and responding to hunger and nutrition crises globally. Additionally, the role will position the charity as a trusted partner and reliable recipient of UK government humanitarian grants.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in both advocacy on humanitarian crises and related subjects, and a good understanding of UK ODA funding mechanisms.
