Job description

We are looking for a Trust Fundraiser to join our team at Whizz Kidz.

About Whizz-Kidz

Whizz-Kidz has been providing life-changing opportunities for young wheelchair users for over 30 years. We’re the largest provider of pediatric mobility equipment outside of the NHS; operating over 100 clinics and seeing around 800 people every year. We also operate over 400 clubs, wheelchair skills training and employability support programmes that bring young people together to learn, have fun and build confidence. In total, we support more than 1,200 young people a year.

The future

We have recently appointed a new CEO and will be launching an ambitious new strategy to support even more young people. We’ll do this by providing more wheelchairs, running more clubs and expanding our employability programme. We need to raise more funds to reach these ambitious targets and the Trust, Statutory and Lottery Team will be central to this, delivering £2.5m a year.

Join us

A fantastic opportunity has opened up in the team for a Trust Fundraiser. You might have some fundraising experience or transferable skills that you have developed elsewhere. We’re looking for a good communicator; spoken and written. Someone who is able to convey to funders what Whizz-Kidz does, what young people want and how we support them to achieve their goals. Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to manage your time and prioritise your work. We have two prospect researchers in the team, allowing you to focus on fundraising.

What to expect:

  • Developing relationships with staff at trusts, or contacting solicitors and others  that act as their representatives
  • You’ll have a prospect pool of at least 100 trusts to move through the pipeline:
    • Established warm supporters giving up to £20,000
    • Cold prospects that haven’t previously given, waiting to be cultivated
    • Some larger trusts capable of giving more than £20,000
  • Stewarding trusts, ensuring they’re receiving reports and other communication relevant to their support
  • Opportunities to support larger – six-figure – bids, with the aim of working on these on your own in the future
  • Working with staff across the organisation to ensure applications and reports have the latest information
  • The opportunity to sit on Whizz-Kidz committees that help us to work better with young people.

If it sounds daunting, don’t worry. There are six other people in the team to support you and help you develop your skills as a trust fundraiser. There’s also a further 17 friendly fundraisers spread across our Corporate, Major Donor, Events, Legacy, Individual Giving, Data and Community Teams all regularly sharing what they’re up to and working to support young people.

Flexible working

Last year, we moved to a modern office in London Bridge; a short walk from Borough Market and the River Thames; it’s at the end of the street. Although, if you’d prefer to spend more time working from home, then we offer flexible working patterns; some members of the team are only in the office one-day a week. Oh, and it’s a 35 hour working week.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 11th October.
