This is a senior leadership position offering a pivotal opportunity to shape our organization's financial and operational future. The Head of Finance and Operations will provide strategic guidance while ensuring the efficient and effective daily operations of all financial and administrative functions.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will deputize in their absence, contribute significantly to our organizational growth and success, and ensure a robust and compliant financial framework.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial & Operational Leadership

• Partner with the CEO to develop and implement long-term financial and operational strategies, including horizon scanning and risk management.

• Manage the organization's financial systems, specifically overseeing and optimizing the use of QuickBooks for all accounting and reporting functions.

• Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

2. Financial Management & Oversight

• Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and taxation.

• Conduct regular variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to the CEO and leadership team.

3. Fundraising and Data Systems

• Ensure accurate and timely financial reconciliation between CiviCRM and QuickBooks.

• Provide financial insights and analysis to support fundraising strategies and donor reporting.

4. Leadership & Governance

• Deputize for the CEO as needed, ensuring continuity across all operations.

• Maintain strong relationships with board members, providing comprehensive and insightful quarterly financial reports to foster understanding and engagement.

• Be responsible for managing relationships with our US bookkeeper (consultant) and both UK and US auditors, and for the line management of the UK Finance and Admin Officer.

5. Operational Excellence

• Monitor and assess operational activities, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.

• Conduct regular cost analysis and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Person Specification

Essential

• Professional accounting or finance qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).

• Proven experience in a senior finance and operations role (at least three years experience).

• Experience in preparing UK statutory accounts and managing external audits. 

• In-depth knowledge of UK FRS 102 and Charities SORP. Exposure to/experience of US GAAP.

• Experience in preparing the annual budget, working closely with budget holders.

• Experience in supporting grant management.

• High proficiency in using financial software. (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero etc.)

• Experience in driving continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

What you'll be doing

The National Society for Education is seeking an inspiring and visionary leader to head its Growing Faith and Young Leaders workstream - a strategic post within our Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Summary of main responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across our core Growing Faith workstream, managing senior team leads and national programme heads

Camden Art Centre is seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our dynamic Development Department. This part time role has responsibility for researching and preparing written applications to UK or international grant-giving trusts and foundations, corporate foundations, public-sector or other statutory funders and grant-making bodies. 

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years proven experience of raising funds from trusts and other grant makers, from smaller more project focussed grants to larger programmatic, core and/or capital grants. Our General Manager is a key member of Different Planet Arts small staff team. Working closely with the Artistic Director and the Board of Trustees as part of the Senior Management Team, you will manage and organise operational support for Different Planet arts programme, ensuring we provide an excellent service to our participants, partners and audiences.

This role is suitable for someone building a career in operations. We are looking for someone who can maintain and provide the right systems and structures to enable others to lead and create our arts projects, and provide ongoing, efficient admin, managerial and fundraising support.

You will manage and be responsible for our systems and processes for financial administration, fundraising, governance procedures and processes, monitoring and keeping the Different Planet Arts office running day-to-day as an administrative hub. You will work closely with our treasurer (who is responsible for creating quarterly Management Accounts.)

About the role

Reporting in to the Business Development Lead (MCC), the role of Business Development Manager for the LAC region is a key role is being responsible for securing new funding aligned to Christian Aid's strategy and thematic priorities. 

The role will lead business development efforts across the Multi-Country Cluster (MCC) and expand the Institutional funding portfolio and collaborate closely with and strategically advise MCC Head of Impact and Partnership & Impact Funding (PIF) team and MCC teams to develop donor engagement strategies, build funding pipelines, identify new opportunities, and establish partnerships to grow program portfolios. 

The post-holder will strengthen and maintain relationships with government agencies, multilateral organisations, institutional donors, and foundations, working in coordination with MCC Programme Portfolio and Partnership teams.

Some of the main responsibilities and accountabilities of the role are:

• Meet institutional Christian Aid income targets at the MCC level, actively contributing to PIF overall divisional goals.
• Collaborate closely with Head of Impact and Partnership Business Development teams on strategic funding to secure new and grow existing funding by developing donor engagement strategies, growing funding pipelines, identifying new opportunities and establishing partnerships to grow program portfolios.

About SOS – Silence of Suicide

Founded in 2015 by Michael and Yvette Mansfield, SOS Silence of Suicide exists to break the silence around mental health and suicide. Initially a peer-support group, SOS is now a growing charity offering multi-channel support services via a national helpline, mobile hubs, and in-person outreach. The Role
