We’re looking for a Research Manager who combines exceptional ability in research and report-writing, with a real passion for (and experience in) peacebuilding. We offer flexible hours and working from home, anywhere in the world. It will be vital that you have an excellent grasp of the context in the Central African region, which will require time spent there and, ideally, significant prior knowledge.
In the first months of the programme, the team will consult at least three thousand people, with a combination of key informant interviews, individual questionnaires and focus groups to build both quantitative and qualitative datasets.
This will add to a dataset of over ten thousand consultations over 6 years, so you’ll have a unique evidence base at your disposal. We believe that, with your expertise and support, we could make better use of the rich information in these datasets, and we feel we owe that to the women and men we’ve consulted. The reports you produce will help amplify their voices, providing decision-makers in government and the international community with clear recommendations for activities that will address root causes of conflict and promote sustainable peace and development.

Work closely with the Chief Executive and team to maintain effective financial and IT administrative systems.

• Ensure smooth management of financial and IT systems, policies, and procedures.
• Consult with the Board, generally the Treasurer on financial matters and oversee external suppliers.

Grants Fundraising Officer (job share)

Hope and Homes for Children is looking for a Funding Coordination Officer (this is the job title used internally for this role), who'll play a key supportive role in the Grants Partnerships team and Marketing, Communications and Fundraising (MCF) department, contributing directly to the Grants team income target as well as supporting fundraisers across the department to access compelling information in support of their fundraising.

As we enter our seventh year as a charity and our work established within West Wales, we are now getting set to fulfil our mission that all children, wherever they reside in Wales, should be able to access the right support, at the right time.

Our new Foundations, grants and trusts officer will Work closely with the fundraising Officer and wider team and be able to guide and navigate their way through the various ways we need to engage with, apply to and subsequently report back to trusts and foundations; large and small.

The role is offered full or part-time and with the flexibility of office based in Pembrokeshire or working remotely from anywhere within Wales. The role will support our work across Wales and will have regular travel around the country and to meetings in our Pembrokeshire Centre.

We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.

You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.

 You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

About the Mint House

Our aim at the Mint House is that restorative justice and practice become embedded within organisations and communities, being seen as a natural part of 'how we do things' across a range of settings.  We work towards this through events and communications designed to introduce restorative justice and practice to new audiences and share learning on effective practice, by providing training and support, through network building, thought leadership and practical projects. Among examples:

• helped by the appointment of a part-time communications officer in 2021 we now have a 500+ strong network of event participants and supporters from across sectors and extending round the globe (though with a sizeable Oxfordshire contingent).
• since 2021 we have trained over 200 managers and staff from Oxfordshire County Council's children's workforce (social workers, family support workers etc) in restorative practice, backing up training with reflective practice sessions and practical resources.  More recently, we have been providing similar training and support for colleagues in forensic mental health settings. We are an accredited training provider with the Restorative Justice Council.
• many of our events have a network-building dimension. We also specifically facilitate a network of UK-based colleagues working to create restorative communities and cities, and a network of communications specialists working in our field.
• with support from the Westhill Endowment, we recently hosted two sets of research and practice dialogues, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to explore what’s involved in embedding restorative practice in organisations and communities.
• we are currently working with partners from across Oxford to pilot use of restorative approaches to reduce evictions of former rough sleepers from supported accommodation.

Training & Projects Officer role

Context

In 2023 we drew up a new strategy and business plan. This exercise underlined that the transformational change we want to see depends on us collaborating with many different organisations and communities, exploring with them what it means to be restorative in their context then working with them to make and learn from the changes needed.

Through our work so far we have encountered many potential collaboration partners.  Working alongside our part-time Communications and Events Officer your role as Training and Projects Officer will be to help us implement existing partnership projects and develop new ones. We have funding available to support this post for 12 months initially but aim to make the role sustainable as new projects come onstream.

We expect the role to be home based, but with a need to visit clients/project partners and attend meetings/events in Oxford or the surrounding area on a regular basis.  Wider travel to partner events/meetings may also be required from time to time.

Purpose

Support the delivery and further development of ‘on the ground' initiatives demonstrating the difference restorative justice and practice can make to building healthy relationships and promoting peace and reconciliation. As part of this, orchestrate delivery of training and support contracts.

Key responsibilities

a. Manage implementation of existing ‘on the ground’ projects, notably including our Matilda House trailblazer housing project.

b. Co-ordinate delivery of training and support, liaising with clients to understand delivery requirements and with in-house and associate trainers to confirm their availability.

The Role

The PR Manager plays a central role, working closely with the Head of Media to manage the public relations function of the charity. • Work with CALP grant managers and the Operations Team to ensure understanding of compliance as per grant agreements; communicate with donors to clarify any compliance queries
• Manage the funding relationships with host agencies
• Coordinate overall funding across grants
• Provide quality assurance of funding proposals and reports and ensure compliance with donor agreements
• Provide management support for and foster personal development of the Donor Relations Officer
• Accountable for CALP’s reputation with donors from a funding perspective 

Essential Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge 

• Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field, or equivalent level of professional experience.
• Significant, proven experience of generating substantial funding including proven ability to develop funding strategies, plan effectively and deliver complex funding applications and donor reports.
• High level experience and knowledge of key humanitarian and development donors such as: ECHO, BHA/USAID, GFFO, FCDO and European government donors.
• Knowledge and experience of working with consortium-based funding.
• Proven strategic design and management skills including good programme development ability and proven knowledge of M&E at project and programme levels.
• Significant experience with budgeting, financial reporting, including managing and reporting on complex programme budgets.
• Ability to develop and manage complex relationships.
• Proven experience of funding management systems/databases.
• Very strong conceptual and analytical skills, including excellent facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English - report writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely and to motivate and persuade at high levels.
• Diplomacy, good interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure while not losing sight of strategic priorities.
• Proven initiative, flexibility and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines across multiple time zones.

Desirable attributes

• Strong understanding of the humanitarian sector.
• Experience working with foundations and philanthropy
• Fluency in Arabic, French or Spanish, in addition to English
• Experience of working in a virtual network or remote team
• Staff management experience

Summary of role responsibilities 

• Manage a portfolio of international childhood cancer research projects, engaging stakeholder expertise where appropriate and providing administrative, operational, and relationship management support.  

• Monitor and evaluate the impact of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK’s patient-centric research programme, working closely with the Communications and Campaigns Manager to effectively communicate this to a wide range of audiences.
