At Impetus we are looking for our next Director of Public Affairs, someone who can inspire our brilliant Public Affairs team and spearhead our communications, policy and research work. This is an exciting senior role, joining our Senior Management Team and working alongside our CEO, board, donors, supporters, portfolio partners and the wider sector to effect real change for young people.

The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising and income generation

• Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
• Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
• Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
• Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
• Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.

• Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
• Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
• Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
• Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Finance will take responsibility for day-to-day financial management, monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and strategic financial support to Huddersfield Town Foundation staff and its Board of Trustees. The role also includes taking responsibility for completion of financial returns to statutory bodies and funding partners and for driving good governance across the Foundation through review of policies, risk documentation and working practices.

We recognise that not every candidate interested in this role will have the full breadth of experience, knowledge and skills we outline in the job description and person specification on the following pages. The majority of the role fits within a standard working day, but it will involve some evening working, and occasional weekend work recognised through an informal time in lieu process. There is some scope to work at home occasionally but youth work and leading a youth work charity mainly requires your regular presence in our offices and venues.

Charity Support Officer

Role Overview: Knowledge in grant-funding, capacity building, organisational support

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Charity Support Officer to help deliver AWN’s mission. You will be the first point of contact for grassroots charities, supporting them to strengthen their organisations and improve their chances of securing grant funding by offering practical guidance, signposting, and building trusted relationships that help them grow in confidence and resilience. The role includes helping organisations strengthen governance and compliance, sharing information on grant-funding opportunities, and supporting them to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
 
The non-profits you will support work across a wide range of areas for example: women, health and wellbeing, youth, homelessness and poverty, family services, sports, faith groups, crime and gangs, prisoners and ex-offenders, refugees and asylum seekers, drug addiction, older people and rehabilitation, and many more. 
 
Bringing a strong awareness of the barriers facing small charities particularly Muslim-led groups, will be key to helping them build long-term sustainability and impact. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for charities and community groups, managing a varied caseload and balancing priorities. 

• Carry out needs assessments to understand organisations strengths, challenges, and funding needs, and develop clear action plans. 

• Provide tailored support, including health checks on governance, compliance, finances, and funding readiness, offering recommendations and signposting to specialist services (e.g., Cranfield Trust, CVS, Charity Excellence etc). 

• Advise on funding opportunities, strategy, and application readiness, with referrals to bid-writing support where needed. 

• Deliver workshops, webinars, events, and one-to-one sessions to build skills, knowledge, and confidence of UK grassroots organisations.

Recruitment Process

First Give inspires young people to make a difference to causes they care about. We work in partnership with secondary schools, providing a scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes, and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering) in support of them.

At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held, where groups representing each class deliver presentations about their projects - with one group winning a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity.

Programme Delivery Officer role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs are responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of First Give in up to 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, providing guidance and troubleshooting for the Lead Teachers.

The role is home-based, in Yorkshire, with regular travel to schools across the county and occasional forays to schools in the North-West. Several times a year travel will be required to London, where our office is based.

• Contract: 18-month FTC
• Salary: £26,840

Key responsibilities

• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:
  • an introductory Programme Call with the Lead teacher;
  • delivering a briefing to class teachers;
  • troubleshooting via phone and email;
  • booking in First Give facilitated sessions
• Ensure all programmes are delivering all core elements of the First Give programme
• Update and monitor Salesforce to track programme delivery
• Liaise with freelance facilitators to ensure events at schools are effectively staffed

• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys, teacher surveys, identifying potential stories of impact, writing programme reports)

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven executive to join our organisation as Chief Executive Officer on a part-time basis (2 days per week. Pro-rata salary: £20,000-£24,000). About Us

TimeGivers is a fast-growing West London charity that is redefining how children engage with their communities. TimeGivers creates scalable, school-centred volunteering programmes that embed social action into the lives of children and the fabric of their communities. Every programme is community-led: we partner with local schools, councils, alliances and charities, co-designing volunteering programmes around specific, identified local need. Our events are also child led whereby young people choose the causes they want to support and help to come up with ideas for how they want to help them.

Core Responsibilities

With proven leadership experience in the charity sector, you must bring a passion for our work and an ability to translate strategy into action. You will be leading us from successful start-up to a more established and growing organisation. We therefore seek experience in driving organisational growth and aligning resources to support this, together with expertise in introducing effective monitoring, evaluation, and performance management to ensure we’re delivering against our strategic objectives and can demonstrate impact.

A key aspect of your role will be overseeing the financial health of the organisation ensuring effective budgeting, forecasting and resource management. You will work closely with the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a sustainable fundraising strategy, identifying and securing diverse income streams (e.g. grants, donations corporate partnerships), as well as working with the Financial Director and the Board to prepare annual accounts and financial reports.

You will be responsible for ensuring the charity operates in accordance with its constitution, policies and legal requirements; maintaining high standards of accountability, safeguarding and risk management across all aspects of the organisation. You will support the Board of Trustees by providing timely and accurate information to ensure effective governance and decision making.

Alongside these skills we are looking for an inspirational and entrepreneurial leader who can galvanise and optimise the performance of our team and dedicated volunteers, ensuring the effective delivery of our programmes. You will be someone who can think strategically but is not afraid to roll their sleeves up and has an energetic, positive and can-do approach. To be successful you will also be adept at managing a range of stakeholders and be credible and inspiring as an ambassador, equipped with excellent communication and influencing skills to promote TimeGivers.

About the Role

The Queen’s Reading Room is funded entirely by grants, donations, sponsorship and income from events. We’re looking for a vibrant and well-connected individual to join the small but agile team, to lead this function within the charity and design and set up a fundraising committee. You will build on a strong base of income generation and work to sustain and expand it.

You will be responsible for building the fundraising strategy with the charity’s CEO and Board of Trustees; for identifying appropriate opportunities to generate funding in the UK and internationally; and for the targets agreed by the CEO and board. You will be comfortable with, and have experience in, the world of high profile and high net-worth individuals, legacy fundraising, fundraising and friendraising events. You will know how to build relationships with individual donor prospects along with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders. You will attend networking events and meetings with potential donors.

Your role will include devising and creating fundraising events; securing sponsorship for events and festivals; contributing to the writing and submitting of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations; and advising and providing suitable copy for fundraising marketing and digital materials. You will work with the team to create case studies and grant reports, sharing and telling great stories to supporters to ensure that they understand the difference that their donations make and with a view to securing repeat support.

You’ll create new relationships by preparing and delivering pitches, talks and presentations and prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.

You will join as a key member of the organisation, alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of MarComms, Head of Talent, Head of Production and Team Researcher.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of significant and sustained income generation. You’ll have a track record of managing and developing relationships with individual donors and be committed to building good internal and external relationships. You will have experience of performing due diligence and have a careful and considered approach to fundraising. Your knowledge of the fundraising market will be excellent. You will understand the complexity of the charity landscape and the sensitivities of the role. You will understand the need for confidentiality to be paramount.

Strong writing and presentation skills are essential.

There will be a lot going on at once, so we’ll be looking for someone who is flexible with changing priorities and who has excellent administrative, IT, organisational and planning skills. You’ll be able to prioritise your workload, manage administration and be able to work independently. You will be an excellent team player but be able to take responsibility for your own work stream.

The Programme Officer is a newly created role to respond to the needs of the new strategy. They will manage strategic charity partnerships and deliver programmes and projects that support youth employability across the UK. Whilst managing partners and projects, this role will report on impact data, communicate the purpose and impact of DHL UK Foundation, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

* Partnership Management: Project manage, support and build strong relationships with strategic charity partners to maximise the impact of grant funding, monitor progress and performance against agreed metrics and prepare reports.
* Project Management: Deliver projects that leverage DHL's expertise and resources to support charity partners and the young people they serve; support the employee volunteering programme, GoTeach, to ensure it meets objectives and delivers impact.

The Programme Officer will have experience working in partnership with charities and managing projects in the charity or corporate responsibility sector. You will have a passion for making a difference to the lives of underserved young people and be able to demonstrate strong relationship management and communication skills. You will have an analytical approach with data reporting experience, and strong organisational skills and proficient in utilising Microsoft suite including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. You will be able to think critically to innovate, and problem solve and be able to work independently and collaboratively, both in the office and remotely.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of youth employability and social mobility in the UK, experience of communicating and presenting to stakeholders in the corporate sector, familiarity with CRM or impact measurement tools and experience with corporate volunteering.

The role is hybrid so you will be based from home for part of the week but you will be happy and committed to travel to DHL UK Foundation offices 2-3 times a week in either Staines, London or Milton Keynes, either by car or by public transport. Travel expenses are covered but you will need to live in reasonable commutable distance to one of these locations (ideally Staines or London). Access to a car, whilst not essential, would be helpful for you for this role.
