The Head of Fundraising & Communications is a new role at METRO. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading METRO Charity’s fundraising efforts and overseeing the charity’s strategic communications, driving growth through individual giving, legacies, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, and trusts and foundations. This role also encompasses enhancing METRO’s public profile and engagement strategies in alignment with the organisation’s values and goals.
The Head of Fundraising & Communications will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies, and provide oversight of the organisation’s overall communications and engagement with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with income generation objectives. This role will ensure that fundraising initiatives are effectively integrated with the charity’s strategic communications to develop and engage a strong supporter base.

We are seeking an Investment Director and Regional Lead to join the Transporters portfolio to fund e-mobility solutions. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the successful candidate will identify, evaluate, and manage investments and large-scale commercial partnerships that materially increase transporters’ (in Africa and India) incomes. Responsibilities span across all stages of deal execution, including building a pipeline of potential investments, structuring and negotiating deals, conducting due diligence and preparing proposals for approval, and successful implementation. The Investment Director will also play a critical role in developing the portfolio’s strategy and annual business plan. We are seeking a self-starter with exceptional strategic thinking and planning, analytical, and communications skills. Previous experience in the energy or electric mobility sector would be advantageous.
As a Regional Lead, the individual will play a significant leadership role to the East Africa team based in Nairobi. He or she will represent the foundation externally to build strategic relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and provide strategic advisory to executive-level management and wider foundation team on East African regional-specific strategies and insights, through a localised- and consumer-driven lens.
This position offers flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to work remotely with regular travel within the region and to our London head office.
Skills & Experience
- Over 10 years of work experience, including significant experience in East Africa, particularly in scaling up entrepreneurial enterprises, or leading initiatives and teams in a major corporate or financial institution
- Ability to design, negotiate, and drive complex projects to success by collaborating across internal (multiple functions and executive-level management) and external (partners and investors) stakeholders
- Experience in investment proposal development
- Demonstrated commercial and financial analytical skills
- A proven interest or experience in sustainable development/impact investing
- Networks in East Africa and in the energy or e-mobility sector are advantageous
Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree from a top-tier graduate programme, or equivalent experience

We are looking to recruit a Retail Assistant to join our team based at our London site. You will join us on a part-time basis working 988 hours per year on an annualised contract for a fixed term period of 1 year. In return, you will receive a salary of £13,685.93 per annum.

Purpose of the Retail Assistant role:
We are looking to recruit a retail assistant.
You will be part of a customer focused team working across both the museum’s retail outlet and admissions point. The ideal person for this position should have excellent customer service skills and the ability to promote and up-sell products, experiences, and activities to our visitors, have a friendly attitude and the ability to multi-task. You must be able to demonstrate ability to deliver exceptional visitor service, ensuring that the experience provided by The Royal Air Force Museum exceeds the expectations of all visitors and that they are delighted with our first-class service and connected with our compelling stories.
Based on an annualised contract, your total annual working hours will be equal to 988 hours. A working week will have a minimum of zero hours and a maximum of 35 hours. A working shift will normally be no less than 4 hours and no more than 7 hours. A normal working week will not exceed working 5 days out of 7. Actual weekly hours will depend on operational requirements. Standard hours will be between 9.30am and 5.30pm but are subject to change based on reasonable and timely operational requirements, including working regular weekends.
Key responsibilities of our Retail Assistant include:
- Providing high standards of customer care through pro-active and re-active engagement with visitors
- Operating commercial experiences, and associated tills
- Maximising commercial experiences revenue by actively promoting the experiences and ensuring the they operate at the appropriate times
- Quickly reporting any commercial experiences issues to the relevant people, including liaising directly with external contractors where appropriate
- Ensuring all security and health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times, including the completion and recording of daily and weekly checks
- Operating flexibly across a range of customer care roles
- Accurately cash-up and reconcile tills/EPOS system as required
- Utilising all visitor interactions as an opportunity to promote additional income generation.
What we are looking for in our Retail Assistant:
- Is respectful to colleagues and visitors, asking appropriate questions, listening and appreciating others’ viewpoints and acting in a professional and fair manner.
- Uses knowledge and experience to deal effectively with problems and make appropriate decisions.
- Willingness and ability to hold a First Aid qualification.
- Proactively and positively contributes to the work of the whole team in a way that leads to the successful delivery of individuals and/or team targets, objectives and activities
- Understands the need for flexibility in role activities and respond accordingly
- Displays a thorough understanding of their role requirements and demonstrate the skills necessary to carry out the role effectively

Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to be both consumers and producers of learning through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse.
We have grown rapidly in recent years, and now have an exciting and varied programme of work which is funded from a wide range of sources. We have long-standing, high-value relationships with organisations such as the Mayor’s Office, Esmée Fairbairn and Clifford Chance, and continue to grow our income from a range of supporters from trusts, foundations, corporates, individuals and community fundraisers.
We now have a need for an Officer to work closely with the Development Director and CEO in developing our corporate income stream, managing the accounts of existing corporate partners and generating income through securing new corporate partnerships. These partnerships will generate both donations and earned income, with corporate partners contracting Tender to deliver workplace training. You will also work closely with our Corporate Advisory Board, which includes a diverse, ambitious group of professionals who are supporting us to maximise our corporate income stream. This role will involve a diverse range of work, from identifying prospects, creating compelling funding approaches and workforce training pitches, through to successfully managing relationships with corporate partners.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in researching and developing prospect lists for priority industries and implementing new business campaigns which will secure multi-year high value partnerships, both for workplace training and donations
- Experience of selling training programmes to businesses
- Experience in developing engaging and impactful partnership proposals and training propositions
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong relationships at all levels
The main purposes of the Development Officer role are:
- Working with the Development team to collectively achieve annual fundraising targets exceeding £2m per year
- Selling workplace training and donation opportunities to corporate partners across a range of industries, but in particular the legal and financial services sectors
- Supporting the CEO and Development Director to increase Tender’s workplace training delivery in order to achieve income targets through sales
- Contributing to applications and events in support of fundraising from other sources
