The finance assistant is part of the Finance and Resources function and reports to the Head of Finance. The role has responsibility for ensuring all accounts receivable and payable transactions are processed, recorded and completed. This is a key role for the Finance function to ensure organisational decision making is robust.

Purpose of the role:

Supporting the Head of Finance to ensure the organisation’s finances are accurate, compliant and up to date with responsibility for processing financial transactions. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing reports, ensuring the integrity of the finance system and managing customer accounts. The role also has responsibility for a broad range of financial administrative tasks and works collaboratively with a range of stakeholders providing financial support, advice and solutions.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East Rivers Trust's Finance and Operations Team.  We are a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation.  The successful applicant will come from a financial background with a strong understanding of financial principles, an accounting qualification and proficiency in Excel.  They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. 

The role would suit an individual, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.  The role involves liaising and following up with all teams to ensure the data provided is accurate and timely, to support grant applications, payments and audit requirements.

To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, be proactive and have excellent communication skills, following up and advising staff across all teams.  They will need to have a positive attitude, and willingness to assist the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required.  This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week, (on a Thursday), working in the office in Leatherhead.

This is a part time position, (of 3 or 4 days per week), to include Monday and Thursday (this being our in office day).  There may be a requirement to pick up additional hours to support with busy periods.

Finance Assistant (Part-Time)

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Finance Assistant will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial administration of the charity. You will manage transactions using QuickBooks, process invoices and payments, assist with payroll, support the preparation for audit, and maintain accurate financial records. You'll also help us improve our financial systems as we continue to grow and adapt. 

This role also includes occasional receptionist cover, so we’re looking for someone friendly, reliable and adaptable.

The Role

Job Description

The Head of Finance Business Partnering will:

• Lead financial planning and the production of the Force's Medium-Term Resource Strategy and Capital Programme Plan, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Planning Cycle.
• Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Head of Finance, and Head of Management Accounting to ensure departmental strategies align with the Force's financial objectives.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Head of Finance Business Partnering will be/have:

• Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
• Recent experience of working within a finance business partnering model or the ability to demonstrate an awareness of what is required to deliver the outcomes of the model.
• Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
• Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.
• Strong commercial acumen with the desire to help drive business performance and show the wider business how finance can add value on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience of advising, challenging and negotiating with senior officers, managers and budget holders in a confident manner.
• Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate, collaborate or effect change in relation to matters of a specialist / technical nature.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of building robust working relationships and establishing personal credibility with senior officers, managers and budget holders.
• Demonstrate IT literacy including advanced Excel, with extensive experience of large, complex ERP systems.
• Open to change, intellectually curious and able to challenge existing thinking to initiate and embrace innovation.

To do this we are looking to appoint a Business Support Officer to provide a range of financial support duties and administer the organisation’s general ledger and finance system.

This post will provide high-quality support to the technology and operations of the organisation, to ensure the smooth running of the main site and enable YAA to meet and deliver on its core objectives and obligations. ● A college equivalent qualification

Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

As Income Officer, you'll play an important part in ensuring all income is accurately processed and allocated, while maintaining high standards of supporter care.

• Process income from various channels using the Raiser's Edge database, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Allocate restricted income in line with supporter requests
• Build and maintain positive relationships with supporters to understand their giving intentions
• Respond to telephone, email and written queries, including complex cases, with professionalism and care
• Oversee regular giving from over 7,000 supporters via Direct Debit, Standing Order and Payroll Giving
• Manage data across multiple systems including Access databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
• Conduct Gift Aid audit checks before HMRC submission, supporting income generation of approx. £1 million annually

Key Responsibilities

The role of the payroll, reward and reporting People and Culture Officer will be fast paced with high volumes and lots of working across the team.

You’ll mainly be focussed on:

• Running their monthly payroll information and getting this over to the payroll team in finance so everyone gets paid correctly.
• Administration of all payroll and contractual changes for new and existing employees.
• Generating people data reports for all levels of the organisation. This includes headcount reports, total reward statements and any other ad hoc reports that are requested.
• Dealing with the queries that come through the shared HR mailbox.

There will be the opportunity to get involved with project work as they look to continuously improve the service they offer their internal clients.

What you will need to succeed

• Ability to prioritise your own workload and completing tasks with a high level of accuracy
• Experience of running payroll process for a similar sized organisation (c400 employees)
• Experience of HR information systems is essential (experience of Cascade HRIS is desirable)
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and advanced knowledge of Excel
• CIPD qualified to Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience
