The Individual Giving and Legacies Manager role sits within the charity’s Public Fundraising team, which as well as Individual Giving, Legacies and In-Memory Fundraising, includes Events and Community Fundraising.

You will lead the growth of our Individual Giving programme, bringing new donors on board across traditional and digital streams. You will be responsible for the retention and reactivation of supporters, maximising their lifetime value; ensuring the best possible supporter experience and delivering annual net income growth in individual giving.

You will also lead our small legacy programme, which has huge ambition for growth; maximising the opportunities available to encourage new and current supporters to leave a gift in their Will. You will be responsible for any legacy administration, working alongside internal and external parties to ensure that all estates are correctly administered, and that we realise the full value of the legacies left to Cure Parkinson’s.

You will be working with supporters to answer their questions about legacy and in-memory giving, and working with the next of kin to ensure that their loved one's legacy is cherished.

We are looking for a creative thinker that has enthusiasm and motivation to lead these areas of work. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as being a collaborative team member. You will be supported by the Head of Public Fundraising to achieve transformational results across Individual Giving and Legacies. And ultimately you will be contributing towards changing the future for people living with Parkinson’s across the world.

This vacancy has arisen as the result of the retirement of our current Fundraising & Marketing Director in Spring 2025. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take over this pivotal role within the charity.

Based at either of our two sites in North Weald and near Colchester (with regular attendance at the other site), you will oversee the strategic management of our charity's fundraising, marketing, and communications. You will lead in the creation, development, and implementation of a range of revenue-focused strategies, and have overall accountability for a large team that generates the funds needed to keep the service operational. As a key member of our Executive Team, you'll collaborate closely with our CEO and other members to drive the delivery of our short, medium, and long-term goals.

Role responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of robust and diverse income generation and marketing strategies that meet both the current, and future, operational needs of the charity with a focus on lottery growth.
• Advise and support the CEO and Board on all fundraising and marketing matters.

What we’re looking for

You will have extensive fundraising experience in a compatible context, specifically across key areas of income generation. You must be target driven to achieve income objectives set. You will have appropriate qualifications or be qualified through experience in fundraising and marketing and/or communications.

We're seeking an applicant with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a senior executive level, demonstrating sound judgement, political and commercial acumen, and exceptional planning and prioritisation skills. The Opportunity

We are looking for an Individual Giving Officer to become an integral member of the fundraising team as we look to diversify and grow our individual giving programme.

Individual giving is a key income stream for Born Free, and you will be supporting the Head of Public Fundraising to grow income from new and existing supporters, including through existing products and testing new ways for people to give. The successful candidate will be involved in areas such as our adoption programme, lottery, appeals, supporter acquisition, retention, stewardship, and digital fundraising.

The Role

Working collaboratively with the Head of Public Fundraising to develop and implement the Individual Giving strategy for income growth and supporter retention. The successful candidate will be detail-orientated, a team player, creative and able to work collaboratively as well as independently.

Resourceful, organised and a proactive team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will need to juggle both creative and data tasks with drive and enthusiasm, be able to work with minimum supervision and show good judgement and initiative.

Key tasks will include:

• Supporter acquisition: work with Head of Public Fundraising to develop, project manage and deliver an integrated multi-channel rolling supporter acquisition across the individual giving portfolio.
• Supporter retention, journeys, and engagement: work with the Head of Public Fundraising, Supporter Database & Insight Manager, and Communications team to project manage, and deliver a successful supporter journey to reduce attrition across the individual giving portfolio, and deliver on appeals and other supporter mailings.
• Digital Marketing: project manage and champion digital fundraising for individual giving, supporting the Social Media Manager and the Marketing Manager with the development of content.
• Manage suppliers and stakeholders: Ensuring high standards of delivery and collaboration are maintained within budgets and procurement requirements.
• Data insight: Work alongside the Head of Public Fundraising and Supporter Data & Insight Manager to ensure the selection and segmentation maximise results. Use campaign data to track and report on the effectiveness of activity, attrition levels, and inform decision-making and future planning.
• Strategy & Planning: Work alongside the Head of Public Fundraising and Director of Fundraising to produce and execute an effective and sustainable individual giving plan to grow income from new and existing donors.
• Budgets: Support the Head of Public Fundraising with compiling budgets, phasing and monitoring Individual Giving income and expenditure.
• External trends and regulation: Keep up to date with fundraising trends and legislation in relation to public fundraising, and ensure compliance with the Charity Commission, fundraising regulation and data protection requirements, including the General Data Protection Directive; Ensure all individual giving activity complies with the appropriate regulation and legislation and delivers an excellent experience for supporters.

The successful candidate should ideally demonstrate the following attributes:

• Direct marketing experience (essential) and digital marketing experience (essential)
• Highly numerate and extremely comfortable working with data, spreadsheets and KPIs
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build effective relationships with colleagues, donors and external suppliers.
• Proven experience in working with Microsoft Office, Excel, and relational databases (including data input), ideally with knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively to both external and internal audiences.

Job summary

We are looking for a proactive, confident and supporter-focused fundraiser to build and manage relationships with JGDR’s local community in Nottinghamshire and South Lincolnshire. Your role

You will sit in the Volunteering and Community Fundraising team, and report into the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager. You will manage your own time to effectively balance both developing and stewarding relationships with individual and corporate supporters in the local area, and working through a network of volunteers to deliver fundraising and retail objectives.

You will develop and grow strong relationships with supporters, collaborating with colleagues across the Fundraising team, particularly the Individual Giving and Legacies team, to ensure you are offering the best supporter experience you can. You will attend local events with, and through, volunteers, work with colleagues in our retail sites, and spot other opportunities to promote JGDR in your community and drive support for our work.

You will deliver excellent stewardship to supporters and volunteers, and develop relationships with key local contacts who can help to further JGDR’s mission. You will champion supporter care, and ensure that all relevant supporter information is stored on JGDR’s CRM, Donorflex.

Key responsibilities

Community fundraising

· Identify, engage, and steward DIY and community fundraisers, developing strategies to promote fundraising activities in these groups and grow income from your local area

· Proactively pursue local business partnership opportunities, developing a pipeline of potential corporate support and making applications to secure support

· Provide high quality stewardship of supporters, groups and businesses within the community, responding to enquiries in a timely way and ensuring relationships are developed and maintained at a high standard

· Represent JGDR as the first point of contact within the community, promoting our mission, vision, and values alongside fundraising and volunteer opportunities

· Ensure that Donorflex is up-to-date and develop regular reporting mechanisms to inform the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager of outputs and results, and support understanding of the local audiences, including individual supporters, local businesses, and volunteers, and their historical engagement with the charity

Volunteering

· Work with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager and Volunteering Assistant to recruit, induct and train volunteers to support fundraising and other relevant initiatives in the local community

· Via volunteer support, oversee the distribution of collection boxes in your local area, monitoring and reporting on income generated

· Coordinate and attend – supported by a network of volunteers – key local events, e.g. county shows, to raise awareness of JGDR in the local community and drive support for the charity amongst target audience groups.

· Ensure JGDR retail shops, and their volunteers, in your area have relevant and timely information on current fundraising campaigns and other initiatives to share with customers

Other duties

 · Contribute content for social media, fundraising newsletters, publications and local media to support marketing objectives and increase our engagement with adopters, supporters and donors online

· Keep up-to-date with sector trends and developments in community and regional fundraising, and volunteering

· Ensure all fundraising activities and events operate within best practice and regulatory guidelines and comply with health and safety requirements.

· Act as a champion for fundraising compliance across the organisation, including ensuring adherence to the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice, the General Data Protection Act and PECR, and other relevant legislative requirements.

· Manage any complaints from supporters efficiently and sensitively

· Act as a collaborative role model to the wider team, and build strong working relationships with colleagues across the wider charity to be an internal ambassador for Fundraising and Marketing

About the role:

As part of our Global Fundraising Team, the Individual Giving Officer will support the delivery of our individual giving programme for UK and US audiences. You will work closely with our Global Individual Giving Manager and our wider fundraising team to increase voluntary individual income through proactive donor development. You will coordinate a variety of dynamic and planned communications over a range of mediums, ensuring that our messaging remains on brand and in line with our mission and values.

This is a great time to be joining MAG as we unveil a new five-year organisational strategy and an ambitious fundraising strategy to transform our income across the UK, US and globally. We have bold plans and a chance to invest in a new team that will secure growth.  We are therefore looking for a motivated individual who can drive forward the delivery of MAG’s individual giving programme through engaging campaigns to raise vital funds and create an inspiring supporter experience for our donors in the UK and US. 

About you:

You will be an empathetic and supporter-focused fundraiser with experience of individual giving. You will be a confident communicator over a range of mediums, with experience writing and reporting on fundraising campaigns. You will have excellent Excel skills and experience working with a fundraising database; in particular, experience working with Donorfy or Raiser’s Edge would be advantageous. You will also be a proactive problem-solver and a good team player, ready to take considered risks and forecast potential issues, but also capable of using failures as learning opportunities.

The role

This key leadership role is at the core of a very successful and ambitious directorate, one that has seen some wonderful achievements across all income streams. About you

You will be an experienced and compelling leader, someone who can demonstrate a successful track record building and delivering fundraising strategies. You will need to show success in achieving income growth, and be experienced across several income streams, including managing strategic partnerships from the corporate world, working strategically with national bodies (e.g. Arts Council) and a deep understanding of fundraising campaigns. You will have exceptional communication skills across all audiences, including working at board level, and have an excellent understanding of financial planning and reporting. You will be a natural leader, who can engage, motivate and inspire the development department, and play a key part in building a strong and inclusive organisational culture, as part of our ED&I commitments.

Strategy

• Working with the Board to articulate a clear and compelling vision for growth with realistic and measurable goals for scaling our program and social impact.
• Communicating effectively between the Board of Trustees and our team, and ensuring daily activities align with the organisation's strategic plan and KPI’s.
• Working with the Board of Trustees to mitigate organisational risks and enable decisions that will protect against major business disruption
• Ensuring business plans progress efficiently ensuring required resources are available.
• Developing effective collaborations with VCSE organisations, the NHS, Public Health and community partners to provide our members access to a wide range of services.

Stability

• Overseeing the development and optimisation of the organisation's infrastructure, including technology, facilities, and human resources, to support increased capacity.
• Overseeing the robust financial management of our finances to ensure long-term sustainability, compliance, and efficiency.
• Developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that builds and nurtures strong relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Building capacity by recruiting top talents as Trustees, staff or volunteers, offer training and support to equip them with the skills needed and to develop their leadership skills.

Scalability

We have over 350 volunteers who support our work.

About the role:

In this role you will help identify potential donors to our academic research projects on pressing issues such as climate change, early years education and social inequality.
