Our Business Development department is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for an experienced, organised and driven individual to fulfil the role of Head of Business Development.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable in leading and co-ordinating a team. You will lead and operationally manage the department in our external business development engagement activities as well as our internal, cross-departmental collaboration working towards our ‘Evolve Strategy’.
You will have a clear and demonstrable understanding of configuring, organising and developing business development strategies and an understanding of how an awarding body operates particularly within the education landscape.
A proactive communication style, strong organisation and interpersonal skills and a decisive nature are key qualities required in this role. You will operate in a flexible and predominantly remote working environment; therefore a demonstrable experience of working using your own initiative alongside a desire to innovate and test new ways of working are essential.
Your team will be supported by a Business Development Co-ordinator and two Business Development Managers, each focused on retention of business and new business (New Business Development Manager to be recruited). Additionally, a team of Business Development Officers and Centre Engagement Executives also support the team.
We view this role as an integral part of successfully delivering our strategy. You will have the opportunity to shape the way your department operates to support the needs of the business as well as our centres.
The role fits within the wider Leadership Team and working closely with other HODs and Managers will be a key ingredient to success.
Role purpose:
- Set & deliver the Business Development Strategy alongside the Director of Engagement that supports growth, reach, and impact of Leadership Skills Foundation programmes.
- Drive operational progress by developing positive and proactive working relationships with other Heads of Department.
- Influence the future direction of the Leadership Skills Foundation as a member of the Leadership Team.
The main resposnsibiltiies will be:
- Effectively manage and develop the Business Development Team and relationship management functions to meet agreed budgets and maximise learner/programme registrations.
- Accountable for the Business Development team’s sales planning and forecasting including annual budgeting.
- Regularly developing and presenting clear insight and analysis on market activity, responsibilities, and opportunities.
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications and New Business Development Manager to devise and deliver targeted new business campaigns and activities.
- Work closely with the Retained Business Development Manager to devise and deliver strategies to retain and grow our centres.
- Work with the Business Development Coordinator to ensure engagement processes and the customer journey meet the needs of centres efficiently.
- Maintain a working knowledge and up to date awareness of the sectors, market audiences and landscape the Leadership Skills Foundation works with.
Head of (HOD) Responsibilities
- Implement the one company/vision/culture and demonstrate its impact.
- To carry out environmental scanning to recognize opportunities and challenges and formulate appropriate actions to position the Foundation in line with its agreed objectives.
- To implement and develop appropriate business management capabilities and practices across the organisation.
- To operationally implement the strategy and set work expectations as agreed by the Board and the SLT.

What's the role about?
The Head of Land role provides strategic leadership and a country overview of our work on recovering nature habitat management (on and off reserves), manages country-level relationships with national conservation bodies and is responsible for country land management compliance via management of our rural surveyors. As a member of the Country Leadership Team the post holder will have collective responsibility for the development and delivery of the Country Strategy and accountability for the ensuring that we have an effective overview of our conservation work in country, ensuring standards and support needs are met.
The role is responsible for representing the RSPB’s conservation work in England to external national level audiences. Having an inspiring approach to communications and identifying collaborative opportunities and solving shared challenges in Nature Conservation would be welcome skills. The post holder will provide conservation leadership in country, maintaining an overview of progress against country species and habitats targets and ensuring that we are deploying the most effective interventions from our conservation toolkit in country.

About the role:
HALO is seeking a dynamic and solution-oriented Country Head to lead the strategic direction of the programme in accordance with HALO’s organisational mission and goals. The Country Head will lead a senior leadership team of six mid-level managers who work across mine action operational delivery, environmental project delivery, human resources, finance, strategy, support services and a Chief of Staff. They will work in partnership with the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, and other HQ functional leads. The Country Head will serve as the legal and primary HALO representative in Angola and be accountable for the programme’s staff and assets, the execution of donor projects and relations with local authorities and partners.
The Country Director is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the programme, including the design, review, and implementation of the programme’s strategy in accordance with HALO’s organisational objectives and charitable purpose. This includes establishing long-term strategic goals for the programme and developing the capacity and strength of the existing team. The Angola programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a variety of governmental, private, and commercial donors with an annual turnover of circa $16 million. The Country Head will oversee and lead the two programmatic Heads responsible for execution and delivery donor projects: Head of Mine Action, and Head of Environment. The Country Head will ensure that the other senior managers provide the necessary support to the programmatic Heads to ensure they have the resources, capacity and support required to operate in an effective and compliant manner. The successful candidate will need to have exceptional liaison skills as they work closely with the Head of Strategy to maintain and foster critical stakeholder relationships in Angola, specifically with the Government of Angola as the programmes’ largest donor. We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

- Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.

The Head of Omnichannel and Customer Experience is accountable for leading Scope's ecommerce business into our next stage of growth and turning this into a future significant income stream for the charity.
The role
Develop and drive the implementation of an eCommerce strategy.
Commission and drive a programme to garner customer insights across all channels.
Collaborate with the Head of Retail Shops to connect Scope’s online and brick and mortar propositions.
Use customer insights to inform the buying and merchandising of new goods. To return significant profit margins for the charity.
Use customer insights to inform future brick and mortar propositions. Including brand and format and the instore experience.
Lead on plans to strengthen our partnerships with retail corporate donors. To diversify and grow quality stock donations to drive income and deliver profit.
About you
You will be an experienced eCommerce leader. And already at a head of level in your current role.
You will have extensive experience of leading large, diverse teams, through a period of growth or change. Strong communication and collaboration skills are critical in this role.
You will also have a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset and understanding of the customer journey. And finally have your finger on the pulse of trends in the digital commerce world.
