What does this role do?
As Head of Business Change, you will:

• Lead, manage, and coach the managers in your team, building a high-performing team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the charity.
• Champion change across the organisation, ensuring staff are engaged, aligned, and supported through transformation initiatives.
•  Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Change Management Framework to provide a clear, structured view of all organisational change and guide teams through transitions.
•  Oversee change initiatives, working with leaders and project teams to assess impact, implement solutions, track progress, and measure success.
•  Support business improvement and long-term planning, using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to optimise processes, drive efficiency, and enable sustainable improvements.

First stage interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 10th December 2025, and will take place on Teams. Second stage interviews are provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 16th December at our London office.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience of having led a finance function previously from within the charity sector. About the role

Reporting in to the Director of Finance and Corporate Governance, the Head of Technology & Data will champion the development, implementation, and use of information technology and data throughout Christian Aid, creating a culture of innovation and empowering IT users.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Head of Technology & Data include:

• Responsible for building, supervising and maintaining a highly available and secure enterprise infrastructure including 24x7 cloud servers, mobility and remote access services and Azure Active Directory.
• Develop a road map for the strategic development of technology and data functions which incorporates system upgrades, installations, and conversions to ensure smooth transitions and optimised functionality for all users.
• Manage ITIL compliant processes including change management and service transition striving for innovation, reliability, and alignment with organisational goals.
• Collaborate proactively to develop strategies that enhance client services, amplify user efficiency, and inspire creative solutions to emerging challenges.
• Inspire and empower ICT staff by hiring, training, mentoring, and appraising team members, cultivating a culture of continuous development and excellence.
• Oversee network administration and network engineering (VPN, VOIP, Wan or relevant emerging technology) in key sites.
• Foster adaptability within ICT staff to align with evolving user needs, emerging technologies, and varied team dynamics.
• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, policies, and processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility for users and team members.
• Deliver user support through responsive helpdesk services and technical solutions tailored to client needs.
• Foster a culture of innovation ensuring Christian Aid are at the forefront of technological advancements to identify and implement solutions that align with organisational values and goals.
• Manage ICT budgets responsibly, ensuring financial integrity in purchasing, planning, and reviewing resources.
• Develop robust ICT policies related to system architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service delivery to ensure business continuity and uphold organisational resilience.
• Build strong long-term partnerships by negotiating and managing vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts to ensure value-driven outcomes

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential:

• Degree level or equivalent with an MCSE.
• Extensive experience of the management of ICT services, including strategy development.
• Extensive experience of Project Management.
• Advanced communications and problem solving skills.
• Highly detailed knowledge of a broad range of information and communications technologies including server, desktop and network hardware and operating systems, application development, information security, internet technologies, support services, systems management tools.
• Advanced leadership and team management skills.
• Substantial supplier management experience.
• Highly developed appreciation of the interaction and impact of business and ICT strategies and operations.

Desirable:

• ITIL Foundation, Practitioner.
• Knowledge and experience of satellite communications.
• Knowledge and experience of telephony and conferencing solutions.
• Experience of multi-site delivery of ICT solutions, ideally in a multinational context.
• Hands on experience of managing resources on Microsoft Azure platform.
• Experience of network and application security implementation.
• Use of systems management and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a super friendly, motivated, and supportive Finance and Administration Team.

The role is conveniently located near Liverpool Street and hybrid working is available working Monday to Wednesday in the office.

You will be an effective team member working alongside the Finance Manager to ensure that income and expenditure are appropriately processed in accordance with The Sick Children’s Trust's procedures, and that coding and costing are accurate and appropriate. You will work with the Finance Manager to support a range of financial procedures from banking to preparation of budgets and forecasts.

You will be the first point of contact for finance queries. Therefore, strong numeracy skills, previous experience in a finance role and good communications skills are essential.

Finance Manager - London - start January 2026

Hybrid one day a week in the office

Are you an experienced Finance Manager keen to join a growing organisation that makes a big impact on the health and wellbeing of people? Charity People is delighted to be partnering with a wonderful organisation based in London to help recruit a Finance Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be managing one Finance Assistant. Working closely with the Head of Finance overseeing all processes and controls that feed into management accounts preparation.

Candidates applying for this role must have experience working in the charity sector and should be available to start on 5^th January, 2026.

Salary:

£44,356 - £48,397 per annum if London based
£40,072 - £44,114 per annum outside London

Contract: 35 hours per week, Permanent

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate processing and strong internal controls across both the charity and Trading Subsidiary.
• Line manage and support the Finance Assistant.
• Ensure all finance processes comply with Charity SORP, audit requirements, HMRC regulations (including VAT).
• Run the full monthly finance cycle to agreed deadlines.
• Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including commentary and variance analysis, for review by the Head of Finance.
• Lead improvements to workflows, month-end processes, and financial reporting.
• Oversee system interfaces and quarterly reconciliations between financial and CRM systems.
• VAT, Gift Aid & Compliance
• Review contracts and agreements for VAT implications and ensure correct treatment across the charity and Trading Subsidiary.
• Prepare accurate quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC rules including partial exemption.
• Oversee monthly Gift Aid claims and ensure controls and reconciliations are robust.
• Lead preparation for the year-end audit, including working papers, reconciliations and coordination with external auditors.
• Support the Head of Finance in the production of statutory accounts for both the charity and Trading Subsidiary.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness and audit-readiness throughout the year.
• Work closely with budget holders to improve financial understanding and forecasting accuracy.
• Act as a business partner to colleagues, enabling better decision-making across departments

Candidates applying for this role must have the following:

• Qualified by Experience (QBE), a recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or working towards a recognised Finance qualification
• Experience working in the charity or NFP sector
• Understanding of Charity SORP and Statutory accounts
• Understanding VAT (charity and trading) and Gift Aid
• Producing management accounts, commentary and variance
• Improving processes
• Ability to build strong relationships with budget holders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels
• Strong interpersonal skills and being proactive
• Experience working on Business Central would be an added advantage
