About the RSS and this role
The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is one of the world’s leading organisations advocating for the importance of statistics and data - and statistics and data have never been more vital. We’re looking for an exceptional, experienced writer, editor and communicator to deliver and lead our range of key platforms and publications.
Working with staff and members across the RSS, you will oversee and support projects that advance the science of statistics, bring data scientists together to share real-world problems and solutions, and make statistical tools, methods and applications understandable to journalists, policymakers and the wider public.
Head of Content is a new role for the RSS and is designed to enable a more strategic approach to the editorial work we deliver. You will coordinate content across the Society, ensuring outputs and derivative products are tailored and targeted to meet the different needs and interest levels of different audiences. Our membership and wider audiences are expanding, and the Head of Content will develop a content strategy that sets a framework for content that is aligned with RSS policy objectives and strategic goals, and targeted at and adapted for different audiences to ensure the widest possible reach.
The post will require a mix of hands-on content creation and editorial leadership. One of your first tasks will be to transition Real World Data Science, our publication for data science practitioners, to new editorial arrangements to ensure its continued growth as a platform for knowledge sharing across academia, industry and the public sector. This will also provide you the opportunity to work alongside key members and stakeholders who are leading our response to the challenges and opportunities posed by recent developments in artificial intelligence.

Our Head of Content will:

Work with wider RSS staff to develop our understanding of the preferences and needs of key internal and external audiences to better align content to those preferences and needs.

Lead the creation and delivery of a fully-costed plan for content development, maintenance and review that aligns with key strategic goals and activities.

Job Purpose:
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational development of the charity with particular responsibility for grant awarding functions to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with our charitable objectives and values.

Main Duties/Tasks

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Strategy
- Develop, implement, review and evaluate Tusk’s communications strategy, working with the senior leadership team, and the Head of Digital, as well as external PR agencies.
- Implement the narrative elements of Tusk’s brand positioning, style and tone of voice, working with the Design and Brand Manager (who manages the visual elements).
- Working with the management team, determine the key issues on which Tusk can have greatest impact (complementing and supporting the role that its Royal Patron can also play) and tailor communications accordingly.
- In conjunction with the fundraising team, develop strategies to enhance communications with Tusk’s different target groups, especially high-net worth individuals, decision-makers, and the public.
- Work with the Tusk team to develop, manage, deliver and evaluate integrated communications campaigns to raise awareness of the threats facing African wildlife, and help secure funds to tackle them.
- Work with the Tusk team to amplify the voices of our project partners, working with African media in particular.

Press and Media Management
- Manage Tusk’s engagement with the press and media to secure greater coverage, coordinating activities with external PR agencies as required.
- Develop relationships with journalists so that Tusk is approached as the leading authority on key conservation-related issues.

- Secure interviews for the CEO and other spokespeople, particularly around key campaigns and events.

Supporter Communications
- Coordinate the production of and edit Tusk’s bi-annual newsletters, annual Tusk Talk magazine, and all other printed marketing collateral, including for events.

Introduction to the role
This role will ensure that we are developing partnerships and applying for new funding in line with our business objective and values. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead on the expansion of the existing shop portfolio including: sourcing, costing & planning of new shops including shop-fitting, staff recruitment & opening. Working with the Associate Retail Commercial Director and Governance Manager on lease negotiations and securing lease completions.
- To grow and develop the Ecommerce division supporting both the Ecommerce Manager and Donation Centre Manager in online innovation and expansion.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager to create a culture of volunteer empowerment and development focusing on volunteer recruitment, management and retention throughout the retail department.

Operational Responsibilities

- Ensure that timely and appropriate communication and feedback mechanisms are in place for your team and volunteers, engaging, and encouraging contribution. Ensure the wider charity is kept up to date with relevant retail activity through team meetings charity team events.
- Work with the Associate Retail Commercial Director to plan, set and manage the annual retail operating budget, reforecast quarterly as appropriate and take steps to address underperformance.

About the role
As the Head of Service for TST North, you'll be at the forefront of driving positive change and ensuring the smooth operation of SHP’s largest Tenancy Support Service. The Head of Service for TST (North) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Tenancy Support Team (North) and bespoke projects that support the delivery of the main service. TST North comprises two distinct services funded via the Greater London Authority (GLA) – TST North (main contract), which offers tenancy and Move-on support to 1200 clients housed through the Clearing House Scheme, and TST North PRS which supports 200 clients housed in Private Rented Sector Accommodation.
The Head of TST will hold overall responsibility for motivating and managing the 50+ staff team, ensuring exceptional service delivery, targets are achieved, and clients receive the best possible support to enable them to sustain their tenancies. The Head of TST is required to demonstrate strong commercial awareness, be able to use KPI and outcome data to influence service delivery.

This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as the Head of Events and Experiences, based in the Events and Experiences Team. The role is responsible for delivering and developing an exciting programme of in-person touchpoints that deliver against varied KPIs and engage multiple targeted audiences. In addition, you will support on the research and implementation of new and innovative events and campaigns.
You will have experience of delivering against an ambitious strategy, have strong team leadership skills and proven expertise in shaping engagement moments that deliver maximum impact for organisations. You will be able to evidence effectively working in large complex organisations, delivering across multiple projects and events. You will need to be a polished communicator, experienced at speaking to an array of senior internal and external stakeholders. An innovative, creative approach is desired and an ability to work in a collaborative environment is essential.
