Key Tasks

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all high value fundraising activity, including proposals, applications, and donor interactions, and be able to regularly report this activity back to the Head of Philanthropy.

Manage a portfolio of low-mid level prospects and existing donors, developing clear strategies to cultivate relationships and secure continued philanthropic support of £1,000 to £10,000. About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to head up development of key partnerships and income streams that will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and able to deliver our impact at scale. You will be responsible for the assessment of, and managing relationships with, all major new partners. You will be accountable for delivering on an ambitious income generation strategy, and for monitoring and effectively reporting our impact. You will ensure that our impact and the importance of our work is effectively communicated to potential new partners, working closely with the Head of Communications and supported by the Marketing Manager. About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Events Manager to lead on Media Trust’s 2024 calendar of fundraising and industry-facing events, including our upcoming 30th Birthday Fundraising Gala and support with other programme-related events.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise in delivering successful fundraising and other events, working across multiple projects, and finding new and innovative ways to engage corporate supporters in fundraising events and campaigns.
You will be part of the Volunteering & Events Management team and will manage a range of in person and virtual events, from fundraising events to corporate partner cultivation drinks, industry roundtables and large-scale volunteering initiatives. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver impactful high-quality events and ensure that all our events deliver against set targets.

Events Management

Manage end-to-end delivery of Media Trust events, campaigns and projects of varying size, format and complexity, both in person and virtually

As Head of Corporate Partnerships, you will be responsible for maximising sponsorship and philanthropic income from the corporate sector. You will work strategically - both individually and through your team - to secure major sponsorships and donations, optimise the Corporate Membership scheme, and attract in-kind support. You will meet agreed targets and operate effectively within a demanding environment involving multiple stakeholders. Working with Museum's senior leadership and with the business community, and representing the Museum at events and meetings, are key aspects of the role.
You will bring a sound understanding of corporate sponsorship and have extensive experience of fundraising for a major cultural institution, university, or charity, or of working in a comparable sales or target-driven relationship management context. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships, are vital for success in this role. In addition to being a skilled negotiator with good commercial awareness, the successful candidate will remain informed about sponsorship and brand partnership trends and use their creativity to develop the most attractive corporate partnership opportunities.

We are looking someone who is highly organised, self-motivated, has sound professional judgement and resilience. Work Context:

About the role
You will be responsible for the design, development and iterative delivery of a portfolio of projects to inform, inspire and support 11-14 year olds to ultimately progress into engineering and technology. As second most senior leader in the charity, the Deputy Director will provide leadership to the First Give team and support the Board of Trustees and Director with strategy and governance.
The Deputy Director will play an integral role in the development of the charity as we move into our second decade. They will spearhead our fundraising, communications and marketing to ensure the charity has the capacity to deliver against our strategic goals.

Remote/hybrid. We welcome applications from across England and Wales, however desk space is available at our London office in West Hampstead should the successful candidate be based in London.
Regular travel to London (approximately once a month) and occasional travel across England and Wales will be required.

Organisational Leadership and line management

Fundraising

Work with the Director and consultants to own and implement a robust fundraising strategy to support the organisation as it executes its new strategic plan

Develop processes for managing fundraising applications and stewardship of existing funders and supporters

Write and submit high quality, inspiring and tailored funding applications and reports for trusts and foundations (expected to be in the region of £10,000-150,000)

Identify and develop potential new funding opportunities for First Give, including major donors and corporate funders

Manage relationships with a set number of key funders, ensuring that we proactively seek feedback, engagement and involvement in our work
New School Partner Recruitment

Oversee and co-ordinate all new school partner recruitment sales and marketing activity

Work with our marketing agency to develop and implement marketing campaigns

Support the Programmes Team to recruit new partner schools in priority regions
-
Proactively seek opportunities for growth of the First Give partners network

Develop and design and production of marketing and sales resources to support all sales activity

You may also be required to deliver sales meetings with networks including Headteacher meetings and attend conferences to promote the work of the charity
Communications

Lead the development and manage the delivery of our communications strategy, including all messaging to key stakeholders via a range of appropriate channels, including newsletters, social media and our website

Be responsible for the First Give website, ensuring it is up to date, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation

Brand champion, ensuring that all external communications and resources are aligned with our brand identity and tone of voice

Management of retainer with external design agency

Person Specification
Essential

Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change

Leadership experience, ideally in a charity of similar complexity and scale

Ability to triage between the strategic and operational with ease and confidence

Demonstrable success as a fundraiser, particularly bid-writing, reporting and funder stewardship

Experience of developing and implementing a communications strategy

Experience of creating a range of content for different audiences and channels including marketing materials, newsletters, blogs, social media content etc…

Experience developing and implementing successful sales and marketing strategies, preferably in the education sector

Experience of writing and managing budgets, delivering plans using resources available

Track record of stakeholder management at senior levels

Experience of working in or with teachers and schools

Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to deliver concise, engaging and persuasive presentations

We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance to join our Finance Team. In this key role you will deliver a first-class finance function to the charity including business partnering, budgeting, and forecasting, management accounting, annual statutory reporting and supporting the developmentand implementation of financial strategy, change management and improving financial controls.
