We are looking for a proactive, creative team player who has excellent knowledge and passion for working in the international development sector. Reporting to the Head of Institutional Partnerships, you will play a proactive role working with other teams across the Foundation on the development and delivery of strategic partnerships and facilitate effective sharing and learning.
About the role
As our Institutional Partnerships Manager, you will:

Proactively seek and secure high value funding from trusts and institutional donors worth over £1m per annum.

Lead development of high-quality proposals, coordinating input from other teams, including proposal writing, budget planning and contract management.

With the Head of Institutional Partnerships, proactively develop and maintain a high-quality pipeline, building strategic relationships with key organisations and funders.

Work closely with the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Adviser, enabling teams and the Programmes team to develop efficient impact measurement and accountability mechanisms for proposed grants.

Coordinate due diligence processes, facilitate donor audits and external evaluations in collaboration with internal teams.

Drive the external profile of the Foundation by representing TRF in networks, forums, and project consortia.

Support the development of annual income and expenditure budgets/forecasts for institutional fundraising, prepare reports and give presentations on funding progress.

Be at the fore front of latest donor trends and share knowledge across the organisation.

About You
To be our Institutional Partnerships Manager, you will likely have:

Over 6 years’ experience of securing and managing grants valued at over £500,000 from institutional donors.

At least 6 years’ experience of working with institutional donors such as the FCDO, EC, USAID, US State Department, Multi-laterals, and trusts and foundations, in a fundraising and/or programme capacity.

Experience of delivering ambitious income targets and comfortable working in a performance
-
management culture.

Excellent research skills and market knowledge of leading funding organisations.

Fluent in English (verbal and written) and excellent writing skills.

Over 6 years’ experience working in an international development organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Tommy's are a mid-sized charity and lead the way in their field. Established in 1992, their mission is to work towards making the UK the safest place in the world to give birth. As the person flying the Data flag in the world of Tommy's, you will take accountability for maintaining, upgrading, and developing their fundraising database so that they can improve their donors' experience and communicate effectively with them. You will lead a team of two Database Officers and coach them to becoming a highly effective team.
As part of the role, you will develop strong relationships within the Fundraising team, helping to understand their needs. You will also develop and establish organisational ways of working with the database, including leading on training staff and developing a user manual to highlight good practice. This newly created role will be part of the senior leadership team and lead the fundraising function at Action Syria. - Lead strategic communications: Lead the strategic evolution of our global communications as a critical component of our strategies to make change happen. Work across our global team to develop a shared understanding of grand strategy, key audiences, the fast-changing context, and how communications can drive positive change. - Lead the communications team: Support a strong team, nurturing their skills to inspire effective and high-impact communications, with an emphasis on digital first. Ensure the work of the team is expertly planned and executed within budget and meets donor requirements. Deliver our performance management system throughout the year to ensure support, well-being, and accountability. Work with the Senior Management Team to manage strategic and operational opportunities and risks.
- Drive and execute innovative, advocacy-oriented communications: Work with senior management, regional and thematic teams to drive a dynamic approach to communications, alongside spotting proactive and reactive opportunities, building higher-level relationships with journalists and partners, and developing tactical approaches. Play an active role in executing impactful, advocacy-oriented communications strategies for key products and events.
- Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s target audiences and ensure we deliver features that effectively support them to effectively organise and present their research data and promote human rights in business.
- Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.
Key competencies and attributes
Strategic communication: At least 5 years’ experience delivering top class communications and expert understanding of how strategic communications deliver change. Demonstrable experience in strategy design and execution. Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; strong grasp of the power of social media to make change happen; and a global perspective to communications.
People manager: At least 3 years’ experience in line management. Experience in nurturing and sustaining a high performing team that thrives in a diverse, and global context. Demonstrable success in supporting project teams to deploy communications strategically for impact.
Project manager: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex communications projects including planning, execution, and evaluation. Demonstratable success planning communications for a busy organisation working closely with allies.
Digital technology & data: Experience of design and delivery of website, digital tools, and data to make change happen. Experience of working with developers to manage and maintain a website.
Human rights, and economic justice expertise: Familiarity with social justice or human rights issues and a willingness to keep up to date. Experience communicating economic justice and human rights issues desirable.
Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse working environments desirable.

The team specialises in providing free legal advice and representation to unaccompanied children and families seeking asylum in the UK.
The Head of UK Legal Team will be a UK-based qualified solicitor or barrister or OISC Level 3 accredited caseworker or IAAS Supervising Senior caseworker with experience of working within the UK in a legal capacity, specifically in the area of asylum, immigration and refugee family reunion.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead a high performing team of immigration lawyers, casework supervisors, and caseworkers.
