Working with agencies, including a digital mobilisation agency, The Senior Individual Giving Officer will be responsible for leading growing our individual donor and supporter base and delivering an excellent supporter experience.

Who are Women’s Aid?
Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Purpose of the post
The post holder will oversee the day-to-day development and operational management of Women’s Aid Direct Services and be responsible for leading on service planning, delivery, impact monitoring, quality assurance and evaluation. You will be responsible for managing senior support workers and indirectly, support workers, bank staff and volunteers.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Manager of Direct Services:
- Assist the Head of Services in developing, implementing, and reporting on a strategic and operational plan for the direct services.
- Ensure the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures for all direct services.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of an equality framework and ensure the provision of direct services against agreed standards.
- Ensure the management, supervision, appraisal, and development of senior staff in the department, and other staff as required to ensure delivery of high-quality services in accordance with best practise.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of all direct services staff and volunteers.
- Ensure effective cover of Direct Services, co-ordinating the rota and shift patterns, contributing to on call shift cover
- Responsible for safeguarding management and oversight/decision making in the need for emergency intervention.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements including safeguarding, GDPR, working time directives and relevant others
- Work closely with managers and practitioners to ensure the consistent delivery of a high quality, functioning and efficient service.
- Identifying areas to actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout direct services
- Work closely with the Head of Service and the Senior Support Workers to identify and respond to opportunities for income generation and participate in Business Development and Fund Raising as a subject expert.
- Liase with internal teams and external agencies to communicate the impact of direct services and potential actions to increase awareness of services.
What we are looking for in our Manager of Direct Services:
- Experience of direct work with survivors and their children who have experience of domestic violence or other forms of abuse.
- Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding issues and the management of risk.
- Experience of managing staff /volunteers including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues relating to working with domestic abuse survivors and children.
- Good working knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
- Knowledge of the rights and options available to women and their children living with and fleeing domestic violence, including knowledge of relevant legislation.
- A good understanding of the impact of domestic violence or other forms of violence on women and children.
- Knowledge of refuge provision and the range of services available for survivors and children affected by abuse provided across England and Wales.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver high quality services.
- Education to a level that ensures a competent standard of literacy, numeracy, and analysis of complex information

FUNDRAISING MANAGER (INTERIM)
We have an exciting opportunity to join the thriving and dynamic SARSAS team as our Fundraising Manager.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.
You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.
You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.
In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.
About you
Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.
Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have ability support and mentor your team and the capacity yourself to create and craft compelling bids, proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.
You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).
We are a small team and so you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other income streams.

About SARSAS
SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.
SARSAS also campaigns and raises awareness about rape and sexual violence to change the narrative about sexual violence and enable survivor’s voices to be heard. Partnership work with a range of agencies locally and nationally is a priority to enable social change.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising delivery and development
- Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
- Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
- Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
- Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
- Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
- Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
- Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.
Relationship management and stewardship
- With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
- Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
- Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
- Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
- Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.
Planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
- Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
- Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
- Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.
Staff management
- Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
- Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.
- Ensure that all work adheres to all policies including Safeguarding and Data Protection guidelines.
- Work alongside the HR Officer, to co-ordinate the recruitment of training staff.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Communications Officer (Media) with sharp news sense to join our growing team. The successful candidate will bring talent, enthusiasm, and relevant knowledge and experience to support press and social media strategies and communications across the entire global organisation. The role sits in our global communications team, working with, and reporting to, the Head of Communications. We are a small, high-performing team tasked with increasing the media and social media coverage of BHRRC’s analysis and key findings, as well as supporting and amplifying the efforts of our partners on the ground that are fighting to achieve justice and remedies for victims of abuse.

Responsibilities
The Communications Officer (Media) will have a particular focus on increasing international media coverage of BHRRC’s work and research, and the activities of our partners, including in the field of labour rights. Responsibilities will include:
Drive a proactive and strategic press approach: Spot opportunities for high impact coverage in target outlets, building on existing press lists, develop relationships with priority journalists, and create and pitch compelling content to media, including media advisories, press releases and related materials.
Develop high-impact communications products, synthesising complex research and data sets: Work with our Global Team to develop materials which speak to our key audiences. Develop key messages for our priority programmes and also discrete outputs including individual briefings and research reports.
Contribute to organisational and project communications strategies and planning: Support the Head of Communications to implement our communications strategy. Advise project managers on strategic communications and support launch project planning. Keep our planning calendar up to date and help ensure deadlines are met.
Produce well-written content: Write and edit channel-appropriate content for our audiences. Support the Global Team to produce high-quality and newsworthy reports, op-eds and blogs.
Support digital outputs: Support the Web Content and Senior Digital Officers as appropriate, creating content for our digital platform and social media platforms (including priority platforms LinkedIn and Twitter).
Support the communications team: Provide on-call cover for the media line, with occasional infrequent out of hours work, and share admin jobs.
Key competencies and attributes
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role, including working in a busy press office, communications department or as a journalist.
Media: Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; ability to conceive, craft and pitch news stories and carry out fast reactive work. Knowledge of and experience of working with the mainstream media, including knowledge of the editorial positions, audiences, and sections or programmes of key outlets. In addition, ideally, knowledge of international business media or media in some specific countries or regions.
Relationship building: Track record of developing relationships with journalists on key issues. Any existing contacts of relevance to BHRRC’s work a bonus.
For-impact communications: Excellent understanding of how strategic communications can work with research and advocacy approaches to achieve change. Proven ability to synthesis and communicate complex and sensitive information; understanding of how to tailor content to different audiences, contexts and channels. Outstanding written English and good oral communications ability.
Project management: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex projects including planning (timelining), execution and evaluation of lessons learned.
Strategic thinking: Track record of helping to develop successful communications strategies to effect change. Experience tailoring communications products for diverse international audiences an asset.
Supporting staff: Enthusiasm for supporting colleagues with communications. Experience supporting staff either through training, coaching or assisting with media advice an asset.
