Contract: Fixed term contract up to 10-months
Location: London office based. Working from home is an option in line with Crisis’ Hybrid working policy. (You will be required to work from the London office once a week or twice a fortnight).
About the role
As News and Media Manager, you will lead a hard-working and experienced team of media experts to bring to life Crisis’ work, demonstrate the solutions needed to tackle homelessness and inspire the public and politicians to join our mission to end it for good. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media and communications campaigns, including our annual Christmas appeal, helping to build our brand. This is a fixed term role covering a secondment in the team, and with an upcoming general election, this is an exciting time take up the role for the next 10 months.
About you
You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news and media environment to secure high-profile coverage and championing the voices of marginalised people. Experience and knowledge of managing and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders is essential in this role, as is the ability to navigate competing priorities to develop and implement creative media strategies that reach a diverse range of audiences.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of working with the media to help secure policy change at a national government level, outstanding people and project management skills and proven experience when it comes to handling reputational risk. You will also have exceptional news sense, with the ability to take a creative approach when seeking out new media opportunities.

ROLE
Stella Maris is growing as a charity, in terms of income generation and new programmes of activity around the world. To help support this development, we have created this new important role. The Fundraising & Communications team at Stella Maris comprises about 12 staff members (some full time; some part time). The team and the charity have now reached the point in their evolution where we need to appoint a Major Donor Manager. This post holder will offer excellent stewardship to our existing Major Donors. He/she will also help to identify and cultivate new potential Major Donors from within and outside our existing pool of individual donors. He/she will substantially grow the Major Donor income stream for the charity. He/she will cultivate and steward Major Donors to give in new and more impactful ways, will increase giving levels, will increase the number of Major Donors, and will create lasting and meaningful relationships with our most committed and generous supporters. The postholder will help us, as a leading maritime charity, to achieve our mission to support seafarers, fishers and their families around the world.
MAIN PURPOSE
The Major Donor Manager, reporting into the Director of Development and working with some guidance from the Head of Major Gifts, will maintain and grow a stable pipeline of income from Major Donors. He/she will secure unrestricted and restricted income from a portfolio of Major Donors to support the activities of the Stella Maris network in the UK and overseas. He/she will produce cultivation plans for individual Major Donors, meet them, craft tailored applications and reports for them.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Manage relationships with a portfolio of Major Donors in accordance with the Charities fundraising strategy and giving programme activity.
2 Establish individual donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship strategies, ensuring each prospect and existing donor has an appropriate communications and cultivation programme in place.
3 Ensure that donor profiling and research activity is undertaken on existing and potential Major Donors (within data protection regulation guidelines) in order to enhance and develop relations.
4 Identify potential Major Donors from within the Mid-Value Donor portfolio and help graduate them up to Major Donor giving levels.
5 Working with the Governance and Executive team, conduct meetings and visits with individual Major Donors around the UK.
6 Accompany Major Donors on port visits within the UK and possibly abroad.
7 Craft carefully tailored applications, thank you letters and reports for Major Donors.
8 Support other senior staff and stakeholders, such as Trustees, in cultivating relationships with Major Donors by providing research and other information as required, and bringing them to meetings with Major Donors when appropriate.
9 Build and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, e.g. wealth advisers, lawyers.
10 Arrange events for Major Donors.
11 Ensure that all activity is recorded accurately on the charity’s Customer Relationship Management database, and that actions are undertaken in a timely and professional manner.
12 Extract monthly reports on activity levels with Major Donors, e.g. number of contacts, meetings, asks, etc., and circulate this internally to selected senior staff members.

About the role
As Technology Project Manager you will take on a busy and varied role as part of the CRM Programme, project managing the implementation of a new Salesforce platform and data migration, as part of the wider CRM programme.

Main Responsibilities
This role is pivotal to MapAction being operationally ready. Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the organisation to use data in its operations, using first party and third-party data sources to facilitate more informed and reliable decision making. Ensure data is relevant, accurate, and accessible by creating, maintaining, and promoting dashboards (through Tableau) for staff and volunteers.
- Lead on developing and improving new processes and automations to save organisational time and increase supporter engagement. This will include marketing automations such as welcome journeys for members.
- Deliver data selections in a timely manner, utilising insights to improve response, and where appropriate segmenting data. Support teams in developing testing plans to improve future outcomes and provide data insights following the campaigns and recommendations for future.

The function of this role is to work with the Head of Development to devise and implement a programme of successful alumni events and fundraising for The Glasgow Academy.
Alumni Engagement: The focus is to build positive relationships with all members of the school and wider communities, including that of the former Westbourne School for Girls. - Full-time (Monday – Friday), permanent
- £35,000 - £40,000 (based on experience)
- Hybrid working, typically, two days per week in the office, but may vary depending on workload. Some out of hours working may be required, with time in lieu offered.
The overall purpose of this post is to support the Head of Events in delivering the Business strategy, taking the lead on management of the Training course programme from inception to completion. The position will work closely with the Training Course Committee to secure a pipeline of new courses alongside successful delivery of existing and repeat courses ensuring that financial targets are achieved.
Overview of Training Courses
In 2021, the Geological Society embarked on a journey by introducing its highly anticipated training courses, following a successful trial in 2020. Since then, these courses have become a cornerstone of knowledge dissemination within the geological community, covering a spectrum of topics.
Throughout 2023, the Geological Society experienced a surge in participation, with over 800 enthusiastic delegates joining the courses across the year. This widespread interest reflects the industry's recognition of the invaluable insights and skills that can be gained from these comprehensive training programs taught by industry and academic experts in the field.
Training courses have become a beacon of excellence within the geological community. Their success, marked by increasing participation and the positive impact on professional development, reaffirms the Society's dedication to advancing geological knowledge and fostering a community of skilled and knowledgeable practitioners.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To develop effective working relationships with society stakeholders, events team, Training Course Committee, Professional Committee, Chartership Officer and wider teams at the society including Publishing House to maximise opportunities for courses.
- To lead on Training Course Committee meetings creating agenda’s and keeping members regularly apprised.
- To report on key areas in the Professional Committee meeting.
- To successfully meet annual sales target for Training courses providing regular feedback on performance to Head of Events and Training Course Committee.
- To work closely with our Marketing Team to prepare detailed marketing plans and high-quality designed materials for promoting courses to delegates.
- Total end to end management of course Speakers, ensuring these relationships are nurtured and all documentation is processed promptly and accurately.
- To ensure that all courses are accessible and organised to Society standards.
- To co-line manage the Events Coordinator with the Head of Events providing regular feedback and support to ensure their ongoing development.

ESSENTIAL
- Proven experience of managing multiple deadlines and delivering work and projects to schedule and budget.
- Budget experience
- Line management experience
- High level of IT literacy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent and demonstrable influencing, negotiating and relationship-building skills.
DESIRABLE
- Commercial awareness and an ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities
- A willingness to embrace innovation and new ways of working.
- Undergraduate level qualification, with proven ability to engage with scientific subjects
- Experience of working for a learned or professional society (or other charitable organisation with trustees, committees and volunteers)
