We’re growing our strategic people capability and are recruiting two People Business Partners on a two-year fixed-term contract.  One role will suit an experienced, all-round HR Business Partner. The second role will suit an all-round HR Business Partner who also brings proven Learning & Development expertise to help us drive a culture of continuous learning and develop high-performing leaders across the charity.

About the Roles

As part of our Business Partnering Team within the wider People Team, both roles will provide informed, consistent, and strategic support to allocated directorates—helping senior leaders build engaged, high-performing teams in a HR Business partnering capacity.

As a successful applicant, you’ll embed yourself in your directorates: acting as a trusted adviser to Heads of, facilitating problem-solving conversations, and ensuring managers are empowered for day-to-day people needs.

You’ll be the single point of contact for people matters in your directorate. You’ll use metrics to provide your directorate with insights to ensure conversations start with data and decision making is data informed and constructively challenged when required.  You’ll be supporting delivery of HR processes, managing complex cross-functional projects, driving positive change in the employee journey and supporting the charity to attract, hire, and retain top talent.

L&D-Focused Opportunity: If you bring solid Learning & Development experience, you’ll also play a key role in identifying skill gaps, shaping training plans, and supporting the development agenda across the charity—accelerating our learning culture.  

About You

You’re collaborative and resilient with the ability to operate strategically while staying hands-on. You have proven experience as a HR and/or L&D Business Partner (or similar role) and are confident building strong relationships with senior leaders and managers across multiple functions.

You stay calm under pressure, manage challenging situations constructively, and juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment—planning ahead yet adapting when things change.

You work autonomously, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions grounded in employment law and HR best practice. Proficiency with HR Information Systems is also essential.

You bring the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, and commitment—and you’re motivated by teamwork, transparency, and doing the right thing for our people.

You hold a CIPD level 5 (or have equivalent experience) with demonstratable HR business partnering success. Previous experience in L&D information systems (preferably Kallidus) will be beneficial, particularly for those wishing to apply for the Learning and Development focused role, though not essential.

You hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes. You are willing and able to travel regularly for in-person meetings and events—often to Downton (SP5 3RB) or London, with occasionally travel to other UK locations. Central London travel will be by train.

You are also comfortable staying away from home overnight on occasion, when required to support events or team activities.

You'll play a vital role in developing work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities as well as supporting our team members into permanent employment. This is a new role which will require you to show heaps of flexibility and learn-as-we-go in order to shape and develop our impact into the future.

If you have pints of personality and want to work for a fantastic cause, we want to hear from you. You’ll be experienced in coaching or mentoring, be well organised and understand the barriers faced by people with a learning disability when moving into employment.

You'll support and develop our team. This means:

• managing a caseload of between 6 and 10 people who are neurodivergent and/or have a learning disability, and who are looking to move into supportive employment locally
• preparing our team members for long-term employment by supporting them to understand their skills, aspirations and goals by offering employment profiling, job matching, action planning and skill development opportunities
• working to a minimum target of 2 adults moving into long term employment by the end of your contract
• undertaking monthly work coaching sessions for team members to develop and upskill them in brewing and bar management skills
• supporting team members to reduce work-related barriers such as travel-to-work, better-off calculations, disclosure of health & wellbeing needs and budgeting
• providing in-work support to assist team members in maintaining and retaining employment, including frequent in-person meetings during the first few months of a successful employment match

You'll be responsible for our employer engagement. This means:

• undertaking tailored job searches and proactive engagement with employers to source supportive, paid job opportunities which meet our team members preferences and match their developing skillset
• identifying potential opportunities for employment within their businesses and sales opportunities amongst employment partners
• providing education and support to employers, which may include negotiating adjustments and on-going employer support to ensure job retention
• building Ignition’s profile as a skills-based, local employment specialist

You will develop our wider employability programme. This means:

• organising and facilitating regular employment taster days for people with learning disabilities looking to move into work in order to raise aspirations and developing an understanding of the workplace
• planning & running CV development workshops to help adults with learning disabilities prepare for the world of work
• developing our evidence-based employability model, drawing on good practice from other sectors, in order to constantly improve and refine the model

As part of your 20 hours per week, you will also be required to undertake one evening or weekend shift per week of up to 6 hours, as a Taproom Supervisor.

• experience of working or volunteering with neurodivergent adults or people with learning disabilities
• experience of leading, teaching, coaching, mentoring or otherwise supporting groups of people

About the Role

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same

This role requires using your initiative and proactive attitude than reactive.

You will also be working with women who are in trauma and can be in crisis requiring you to be empathetic but aspirational. You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across the three sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You will be expected to work in one of the three Refuges as part of your role

Some of the tasks you will be required.

• Support – Induction, Risk Assessments, Domestic Abuse, Mental Health, Benefits, Debt Advice, Move On, maintain accurate recording on Solace case management system and ensure regular reviews are carried out.
• Frontline delivery of support directly to service users
• Repairs Identification/reporting/meeting contractors
• Void inspections, basic void works – i.e. clean/clear, furniture, welcome packs 
• Service Users Arrears & HB Claims and benefits - Identify arrears of concern & raise to Service Manager
• Helping service users understand housing benefits/welfare benefits available to them 
• Initial Safeguarding Reports 
• Deliver Clear Outcomes – contractual deliverables or Solace standards 
• Multi agency working involved with Service Users
• Support service user to access other community services 
• ED&I Awareness-needs for SU’s including organising EDI activities.
• Promoting SU involvement activities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential. 

• You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.
• You should have an understanding of the homelessness process, either professionally or personally. 
• You will have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

What you’ll do

As Finance Executive, you’ll play a key role in keeping our day-to-day finance operations running smoothly; from processing transactions and performing reconciliations, to ensuring our partners are billed correctly and pay on time. You'll be a key point of contact for finance queries across the business, and your work will be essential to maintaining accurate records and enabling wider decision-making. You'll also play an important role in driving process improvements, and support the team by analysing data and producing insightful reports that inform decision making.

This is a varied role where you’ll get exposure to lots of different areas within the finance function of a SaaS company. It’s perfect if you’re keen to explore your interests and gain a solid grounding across multiple aspects of finance.

• Record, process and reconcile transactions for the company using platforms like Spendesk and Xero, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and categorised. 
• Manage our finance email inbox, responding to queries from schools, universities and employers. 
• Manage our accounts receivable processes, keeping track of overdue invoices, chasing partners for payment and recording received payments. 
• Support our sales teams with general finance related queries and keeping their partner records up to date on Salesforce (our CRM system).
• Improve, streamline and automate processes within the finance function.

  • Setting up a simple way to keep track of the subscriptions we pay for, and make sure we’re getting good value from them.
  • Finding solutions to increase the number of invoices paid on time.

Who we’re looking for

You’ve got some experience in a finance or operations role, or you can demonstrate that you’ve built the relevant skills in another setting and are ready to learn more.

• You’re organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail that helps keep things running smoothly and accurately.

• You’re quick to learn new systems and tools, you might not have used platforms like Xero or Salesforce before, but you’re keen to get stuck in.

Working together

We’re a small but mighty team of 3 within Finance (this role included). You’ll be line managed by the Head of Finance and will be working very closely with our Finance Lead too. You’ll also have regular contact with most people across the Unifrog, especially our partner-facing teams and the People team. You’ll also be liaising with our external accountants who take lead with the financial accounting and payroll side of things.

About this role 

This is a joint role delivered by Class 13 as part of two interconnected programmes in Lambeth. One is a long-term embedded pilot working deeply with two local schools to reimagine school culture from the inside out. The other is part of a borough-wide initiative commissioned by SEL ICB and supported by Black Thrive to improve emotional wellbeing for Black and mixed heritage children. 

Both strands aim to create more human, equitable school environments—and we are seeking someone committed to walking alongside families, schools, and systems to help make this happen.

While the role is relational at its core, it also involves managing light but essential administrative and reporting tasks particularly during key programme milestones. This includes maintaining accurate records, preparing summaries of engagement sessions, and handling transcripts to ensure learning is captured and shared.

Role Summary

We are seeking a deeply reflective and relational School & Community Engagement Partner who isn’t afraid to ask bold questions or sit with uncomfortable truths.

This role isn’t about quick fixes or ticking engagement boxes—it’s about nurturing trust, challenging old habits, and reimagining what school can be. You’ll be at the heart of a long-term transformation project, working deeply with two Lambeth schools while also contributing to a broader borough-wide initiative that invites families, staff, and communities to imagine something better—together.

At its core, this work is about shifting power. About listening with care, convening with purpose, and walking alongside parents, carers, teachers, and school leaders as they navigate what change can look like when it’s built on affirmation, curiosity, and collective responsibility.

You’ll help strengthen the connection between schools and families through sustained relationships, collective inquiry, and shared action. Some of your work will be intensive and embedded, walking alongside schools to shift culture from the inside out. Other aspects will stretch wider gathering insight, surfacing patterns, and shaping ideas that ripple beyond a single setting.

This is not a traditional outreach role. It’s connective tissue—bridging classrooms, communities, and change. You’ll be a steady presence: listening, facilitating, building trust, and helping schools reflect not just on what they do, but why.

The School & Community Engagement Partner  will report to the Head of Programmes and  the primary lead work closely with school leadership, teachers, and local organisations to transform parent-school relationships.

Main Responsibilities

1. Deepen relationships and build community

• Build consistent, trust-based relationships with parents, carers, staff, and wider community members, particularly those who have been historically marginalised by school systems

• Be a visible and approachable presence at parents’ evenings, community events, school gates, and day-to-day school life

• Support families to move from being consulted to being co-creators ensuring their insight shapes decisions, practice, and school culture

• Foster connections not just between families and schools, but across families themselves, creating the conditions for mutual support and collective action
   

2. Walk alongside schools as they shift culture

• Work closely with staff across both pilot schools supporting reflection, relationship-building, and democratic practice

• Collaborate with school leaders, governors, and the wider Class 13 team to surface insight, challenge deficit thinking, and support community-led transformation

• Contribute to family-led policy change projects, helping create space for shared decision-making and power-sharing in schools

• Support the rhythm and routines of the embedded pilot showing up consistently in school life, from attending assemblies to noticing small shifts in culture

• Lead structured interviews with teachers participating in the programme, creating a relational space to gather reflective insights using agreed guides.

3. Facilitate wider listening and engagement

• Deliver structured engagement sessions in local schools as part of the SEL ICB programme, using the Appreciative Inquiry model (training provided)

• Work with staff and parents to map what currently exists, identify challenges and possibilities, and co-develop practical, community-rooted solutions

• “Reflect on what you’re hearing and noticing, and share learning that can support change—locally and across the wider network.

4. Learn, reflect, and grow

• Participate fully in Class 13’s foundational learning programme (4 full-day sessions)

• Engage in self-directed learning as part of the ICB programme

• Contribute to monitoring, reflection, and participatory evaluation of both the embedded pilot and the wider borough programme

• Maintain accurate records of meetings, interviews, and engagement sessions, including producing clear summaries and contributing to project documentation.

• Join monthly peer forums and learning spaces across the borough to share insight, deepen practice, and support collective learning.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• A background in community engagement, education, youth work or organising—particularly with parents, carers, or families

• Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to hold space for difficult conversations with care and clarity

• Deep listening skills and the ability to build relationships across difference, especially in school or public sector contexts

• Experience supporting individuals or groups to move from consultation to co-creation, shaping outcomes together

• Confidence navigating school spaces (including SLT, teachers, governors, parents, and young people)

• Strong organisational skills and comfort managing multiple priorities across different sites

• A deep commitment to equity and justice, and a willingness to reflect on your own practice

• Ability to manage and organise documentation, transcripts, and basic reporting to meet programme and funder requirements.

• Experience in conducting structured interviews or qualitative research in education, youth, or community contexts.

Desirable

• Experience working in, or alongside, schools or youth-facing institutions

This is a new senior leadership role created through Inclusion North’s restructure. It is central to how we rebuild our strategic presence in Yorkshire and Humber while ensuring strong, joined-up working across the Northeast.

You will line manage the Innovation and Impact Manager and the Good Life Collaborative Programme Lead. This includes overseeing how our delivery connects to system priorities, responds to emerging opportunities, and contributes to our financial sustainability. You will also provide strategic insight to support planning, funding, and future direction.

This is a leadership role for someone who can build trust, speak with credibility, and stand firm in their values. You will need the insight to understand how systems work, and the confidence to push for change when they do not work for the people they are meant to serve.

The Cross-regional Strategic Lead holds senior responsibility for regional engagement, system influence, and delivery oversight at a strategic level.

Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-5 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme. Recently we’ve focused on developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly. People with a learning disability, neurodiversity and their family carers are inclusively supported by social prescribers for advice and by health educators/coaches for health-related matters if needed.

Our current Executive Director, who has led Brent Mencap so well for 25 years wants to retire. Public Affairs Manager (Fixed term contract)

Your purpose 

This is a critical role in the Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs Department. As Public Affairs Manager, you will support the Head of Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs to make oracy education ordinary, co-ordinating and  project managing and delivering public affairs work as well as leading public relations work that increases our profile with policy makers. In doing so, you will play  an integral role in ensuring all children, regardless of their background, find their voice for success in school  and in life.

Your responsibilities 

This is a senior role in the Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs Department, as part of the wider Learning, Impact and Influence Directorate 

Public Affairs (80%)

• Drive forward Voice 21’s public affairs strategy, building key relationships, understanding and momentum that develops Voice 21’s influence with Government and non-parliamentary policy makers, ensuring that we have a meaningful role in shaping an oracy entitlement for every child, and appropriate mechanisms for its implementation

• Deliver Public Affairs business as usual work, for example; organising school visits, leading political and parliamentary monitoring, stakeholder mapping and horizon-scanning and organising events in parliament and at party conferences

• Work with policy makers on local, regional and national level to influence those responsible for the delivery of education at primary and secondary level

• Engage and manage stakeholders and other key people across and beyond the organisation who work with the Learning, Impact and Influence directorate to leverage relationships in pursuit of our organisational strategy and mission

• Lead on Voice 21’s role as secretariat to the Oracy All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) 

• Produce/co-produce consultation responses, blogs, internal and external briefings, parliamentary questions and other related communications in line with our content strategy

• Act as an internal expert consultant on public affairs, decision makers and implementation of our agenda

Public Relations (20%) 

• Deliver public relations activity to raise our profile and support our brand, including through awards, events and speaking engagements 

• Spotting reactive communications opportunities in line with the public affairs strategy 

Your progression

Within 1 month, you’ll have:

• Started building strong working relationships with the team, warm policy makers and sector partners

• Created a database of influential head teachers

• Helped refine our policy asks in key areas into easy-to-communicate goals

Within 3 months, you’ll have: 

• Used analysis and polling to build reports on key advocate groups who can help spread our messages

• Launched our Oracy APPG

• Refined our monitoring and reactive opportunity spotting systems

From 6 months onwards, we expect for you to be:

• Have worked with our research team to develop a literature review of oracy education policy at local and national level

• Migrated our contract tracking to Salesforce and expanded it to capture relationships help at local and national levels
