Volunteer Centre Hackney is a thriving charity (annual income circa £1.1m, with 29 paid staff) providing volunteering infrastructure to the voluntary sector across the City of London and the London borough of Hackney. This is a hands-on and strategic role for an experienced fundraiser who thrives in a small to medium sized charity environment. You will have autonomy to develop a whole new fundraising strategy, utilise diverse fundraising methods, and build and develop new project ideas and partnerships. You will lead on income generation primarily through sourcing and applying to trusts and foundations, and with the potential to build new corporate partnerships, community campaigns and individual giving. You will build authentic relationships with funders and supporters, and together with VCH colleagues, will identify new programme models as ways to generate income. You will contribute to the development and production of compelling stories, evidence and marketing and build and maintain the infrastructure needed to track and achieve progress against annual income targets.

Post holders need to have excellent communication skills, to represent the charity in writing and in person. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivating and confident to work primarily alone, but also able to engage and collaborate with staff from across the organisation to share information and impact evidence to support your role. If you are successful in securing funding there will be the potential to recruit additional support, and for you to become the Head of Fundraising of a small team.

About the Role

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and proactive Business Development Manager to develop relationships and opportunities with new clients, drive income generation and to grow the reach of the charity.

This role leads on securing new business opportunities across tenders, grants, consultancy, training, and government contracts, managing the process from initial research through to submission and handover. It focuses on building and maintaining relationships with partners across the public, voluntary, and private sectors, while promoting the NYA’s services and quality framework.

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Development Manager, you will:

• Seeking and attracting new opportunities for the NYA to work with public sector, voluntary sector, and private sector partners.
• Identifying and assessing prospects across tenders, grants, commercial proposals and government frameworks/contracts.

Philanthropy Manager 

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, ambitious and relationship-driven Philanthropy Manager to help grow Greater Change’s income, impact, and profile. Reporting to the Head of Growth and working closely with the CEO, this is a hands-on role suited to someone who can be creative and structured.

You will lead key income streams across High Net Worth Individuals, Trusts and Foundations, and fundraising events, delivering high-quality proposals and thoughtful stewardship that strengthens long-term partnerships.

The ideal candidate will be someone who understands how we are maximising impact and cost-effectiveness. You will be able to clearly communicate how our work delivers meaningful outcomes.

Above all, we are looking for someone proactive and thoughtful, who is motivated to play a key role in scaling a high-impact, evidence-led solution to homelessness.

Main Responsibilities

1. Work closely with the CEO on philanthropic relationships, including supporting the Development Board’s engagement, meetings, and follow-ups.

2. Lead all trusts and foundation activity end-to-end, including prospect research, applications and producing reports, while tracking funding deadlines, maintaining a clear pipeline, and providing regular progress updates to the CEO and Head of Growth.

3. Prepare high-quality proposals, cases for support, presentations, and donor communications.

4. Co-lead on developing and maintaining corporate partnerships with the Head of Growth

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding community fundraising role, focused on building strong relationships and delivering income growth across the South.

You will engage and support individuals, schools, community groups and local businesses to fundraise, delivering excellent stewardship and supporter care.

You’ll recruit participants for both ‘run your own’ and third-party events, while developing long-term relationships including with families connected to the charity.

Working collaboratively with House Teams and colleagues, you’ll help increase awareness, manage supporter activity, track income, and maximise opportunities through partnerships and communications.

The 999 Club is a small charity doing big things with local people facing homelessness. For over 30 years we’ve been in the heart of Deptford providing warm welcomes and wraparound services ensuring those who need us are given the best chance of leaving homelessness behind for good.  

Our Gateway Drop-In Centre offers nutritious meals, laundry and medical facilities, showers, IT access, phone charging , a safe space to rest and a dedicated Women’s Sanctuary.  

When members feel ready, our team of expert staff are on hand to support them into suitable accommodation where possible, secure income via paid work or benefits, and provide immigration signposting for those who need it. Once housed, our Move+ programme continues to work with them to ensure they settle into new accommodation with the knowledge, skills, community and hope required to thrive in their new life.  

We also run The Bridge, a free six-week evening mental health course open to anyone in the community experiencing mental distress. The programme provides a practical toolkit to support long-term mental wellbeing.  

JOB OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES 

This role will play a vital role in advancing 999 Club’s ambitious plans to enhance its status, reputation, and support among both existing and wider audiences. At this pivotal moment in the charity’s history, the postholder will work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Members’ Committee to co-develop and implement a bold new communications and marketing strategy. 

Building on a recent organisational rebrand, this role will ensure that the voices of those with lived experience remain central to the organisation’s messaging and identity. A key focus will be strengthening internal and external communication, uniting our diverse membership—which includes staff, clients, volunteers, trustees, and supporters—while also reaching new audiences through social media, direct marketing, PR, and media outreach.

The Pepper Foundation is a local charity funding children’s hospice care at home, specialised play and family days for children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. 

The Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser will be joining Pepper at an exciting time as we launch our new three-year fundraising strategy. Backed by committed investment and with full Board approval, we are delighted to be growing the charity to deliver sustainable income that directly supports local children and families with hospice care in the comfort of their own homes.

Working closely with the Head of Trusts & Foundations, you will play a pivotal role in increasing income from trusts and foundations by developing and managing a strong pipeline of funders, securing new grants, and building long-term relationships that lead to increased and multi-year support. You will research and prepare compelling applications to both new and existing funders, alongside producing timely, engaging reports that clearly demonstrate impact.

This role requires a highly organised and motivated individual with a passion for writing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional cultivation, stewardship and relationship management of trusts and foundations aligned with our mission.

Your work will directly support hospice at home care, specialist play services, and meaningful family days out for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions – making a tangible difference to families during the most difficult of times.

About the role

The post-holder will lead the strategic planning and oversight of Christian Aid’s media and public relations strategy, raising the profile of the organisation among influencers in politics, public life and the Church, as well as Christian Aid supporters, motivating them to give, act and pray. 

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Media and Public Relations Lead include:

• Manage the team to generate high profile media coverage and to create messaging that positions Christian Aid as a credible and influential organisation. 
• Deliver and shape the strategic planning and oversight of Christian Aid’s media and public engagement strategy, raising the profile of the organisation among influencers in politics, public life and the Church, as well as supporters, motivating them to give, act and pray, driving meaningful change.
• Collaborate with fundraising, advocacy and programme colleagues to deliver profile-raising media and public engagement activity, particularly during key moments such as Christian Aid Week and humanitarian emergencies and appeals. 
• Drive and build context and content around each message outlined in the fundraising and supporter engagement strategy for the complete set of Christian Aid audiences, ensuring there is consistency and an appropriate tone of voice.
• Provide guidance and coaching on successful public relations activities, fostering a team mindset that will bring greater awareness to the impact Christian Aid is having and the work it is doing with its partners and protecting the organisation's reputation.
• Generate coverage of Christian Aid’s international programmes, emergencies, campaign, policy and fundraising work across all media. 
• Plan resources to contribute to projects and support the wider organisational needs. 
• Be a senior member of the Communications Divisional Leadership Team within the Income & Public Engagement department and deputise for the Head of Communications where needed

Our Youth and Play Practitioners will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. You'll help develop aspects of this service delivery within Humanists UK. What you'll be doing

In your role as the Local Groups Development Officer, you'll support the set-up and development of Humanists UK Local Groups. This includes the recruitment and support of volunteer teams, equipping them with the confidence, skills, knowledge, and resources to sustain their group. You'll also advocate for group needs and concerns, and ensure our volunteers feel valued and recognised, and that the impact of their work is acknowledged across the organisation and community.

Key Tasks & Activities

• Supporting the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support of Local Group volunteer committees

• Working with the Head of Groups and Communities to identify opportunities and locations for new Local Groups

• Contributing to the ongoing development and support of established Local Groups

• Acting as a point of contact for Local Group volunteers

• Supporting Local Groups with internal processes, including setting up events, mailings, social media accounts, and other communications using our CRM system

• Contributing to the creation, development, and review of Local Group volunteer resources

• Recording, monitoring, and reporting on engagement across the network of Local Groups

Some evening work and travel is required for the role.

You will have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, and be able to manage a varied workload, balancing volunteer queries and support while ensuring internal processes are followed and systems are used in the most effective way possible.

You will also be a proactive and supportive team player and a self-starter. We are a small team who manage our own work, but value coming together to share ideas, support one another, and support our volunteers.

Salary will be in a range up to £18,000 pa. (£30,000 full time equivalent)

You’ll be working closely with our Head of Fundraising and Communications in a small team that values fundraising creativity, and has some great partnerships and resources for you to build on.

We’re seeking a motivated self-starter, with a track record of initiating, managing and developing relationships with high net worth individuals and grantmaking bodies, and securing 5 figure donations and grants.

You will find, and nurture relationships with, philanthropists and non-statutory grant-makers. Some of these will be existing donors, and warm prospects, and others you will identify by research (we’ll provide some administrative help). You’ll also engage with Trustees, and senior staff, to identify and nurture Christian philanthropists and grant body decision-makers within their spheres of influence.

You’ll develop cases for support and write funding applications (helped by the wider staff team) and will build a robust income pipeline based on relational asks, including in person. Stewardship is key, so we want a skilled communicator with great organisational skills. You’ll have a passion for local social action, and will thrive in our collaborative team culture.
