As Finance, FJ and Operations Director, you’ll work closely with our two Co-CEOs to deliver CFG’s mission: championing financial sustainability for charities. About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to join our team based at our Head Office in Abbots Leigh. This key role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of all day-to-day financial operations for both Freeways and Freeways Trust.
You’ll lead a small finance administration team, oversee financial processing and play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our financial systems and controls.

As part of our Finance Team, you will:
· ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information across both organisations
· oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook processes

About You
You will be a part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA) or have equivalent experience at a similar level. This role will engage with groups from the urban and rural reaches of the river Roding catchment to co-design activities that support the delivery of The Roding Rises activity plan and encourage participants along an engagement pathway from awareness to participation and independent action. The key skill for this role is being able to connect with and bring people together. The project relies on creating strong networks of grassroots organisations, community leaders and representatives from the public and private sectors, including councillors and politicians.

Main duties and responsibilities
1. Work with The Roding Rises Project Team, local community organisations and representatives to co-produce and deliver an inclusive and culturally relevant programme of 21 events and activities over the three-year life of the project as part of the River Connections programme of events within The Roding Rises activity plan.
2. Work with The Roding Rises Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of the externally contracted River Testimonies and Roding Arts and Walking Festival and community co-development aspects of the Roding Masterplan.
3. Support community groups and partners with community-focused applications to the Roding grants scheme
4. In partnership with colleagues, conduct inclusive outreach activities that will engage a wide diversity of people with a range of backgrounds and life experiences, from both rural and urban areas in our core locations.
5. Build a catchment-wide community network, uploading details to Thames21’s CRM system in line with GDPR.
6. Collect and record qualitative and quantitative data on events and activities run, including written and verbal feedback from partners and participants, photos and numbers of attendees, keeping to GDPR requirements. Evaluate this information to develop the methods for engagement and inform future activities.
7. Carry out the administrative duties to run events, including conducting risk assessments and method statements, managing event registrations, liaising with local councils and community groups and maintaining and managing event equipment.
- Work with the Thames21 Training Officer to establish a group of volunteers who are trained in Thames21’s modules to maintain and monitor local sites. Includes supporting existing volunteers and assisting with building their capacity so groups become autonomous.
- Represent Thames21 and The Roding Rises at relevant local forums and proactively recruit volunteers through in-person engagement events.
- Maintain clear records of progress, ensure all administration and statistical information is kept up to date,
- Work with Thames21’s Communications Team to promote the project, celebrate its achievements and learnings; ensure key milestones are recognised, funders are acknowledged, and volunteer opportunities are publicised.
- Attend Thames21 Team Meetings and liaise with other Thames21 staff.

Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site (Nag’s Head Farm) near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Volunteer Manager (Nags Head Farm) is to provide the management and administration of the key Volunteer sector of Camp Jojo, and to offer administrative support and feedback to members of the Camp Jojo Board in this regard.
The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for successful initial contact, recruitment, communication with and administration of volunteer for the Nag’s Head Farm camps, through to their successful placement at camp. They will also work closely with the Operations Manager: Families and Site Ops. (Nags Head Farm). They will be guided in their role with the existing managers at Ivy Farm, Mersea, Essex.
The primary task of the Volunteer Manager (Nag’s Head Farm) will be to oversee the whole process of Volunteer applications to camps at Nag’s Head Farm, and to maintain and develop databases in support of this. They will be the contact point for information and support throughout the Nag’s Head Farm volunteers’ pathway with Camp Jojo. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings which concern volunteer management, etc.
They may need to work flexibly; the demands will be seasonal, with many more hours needed through spring and summer than autumn and winter. They will also need to be present for the first day of the camps during the summer, which are mostly during the school holidays. The Volunteer Manager (Nag’s Head Farm) will have a varied and sometimes high-paced job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, and interact professionally

As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of Finance and Operations provides a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership across the core support functions of the charity. - Ensure legal compliance with employment law and best practice HR policies.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive organisational culture, collaborating with other SLT colleagues to embed the actions on the charity's Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), leadership development and culture change strategic plans.
- Working with external provider and advisors, oversee IT infrastructure, cyber security and responsibility for the organisation's data protection compliance (including GDPR).
