Job Purpose
At an exciting time of growth and strategic development, Barnsley CVS is looking for a creative and motivated Communications and Engagement Officer to help tell our story and strengthen connections across the borough.
In this entry-level role, you will support how we communicate, connect and engage with local communities, members, stakeholders and the wider VCSE sector. You’ll help bring our work to life – creating accessible, engaging content and supporting campaigns that showcase the impact of local organisations and the difference they make every day.
Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will contribute to delivering communications that inform, inspire and involve. Job Purpose
The Senior Individual Giving Officer plays a central role delivering the campaigns and plans that will achieve the Individual Giving programme income targets. The post holder, working closely with colleagues across BookTrust, will manage existing and test new Individual Giving campaigns and develop and test new fundraising products in order to generate income from new and existing supporters.

Key Responsibilities:
Programmes and projects
- Manage acquisition and retention campaigns including testing new audiences and channels.

About the role

Who we are
Hospice at Home’s skilled team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants provide our exceptional core services of palliative and end of life care and support people in their last year of life also providing additional services such as Lymphoedema, Bereavement and Family Support, Befriending, Occupational Therapy and Complementary Therapy.
We provide individualised care and support to improve quality of life and our end of life care helps facilitate a peaceful and dignified death in the home and support to those who are bereaved.
Although we receive some funding from the NHS, we need to raise over 85% of our running costs in order to ensure that this vital help is available when needed and remains free of charge to patients and their families.
Our clinical service area covers a mixture of urban and rural communities, a region of approximately 1,500 square miles throughout North and East Cumbria
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Major Gifts & Individual Giving Lead to join our fundraising team.
This role leads the operational development of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland’s Major Gifts, Individual Giving and Legacy programmes, and support in the development of Trust & Foundation applications.
As a new area of focus for the organisation, the postholder will be responsible for designing, launching and growing a full supporter journey for individual donors—from regular giving through to mid‑value, major gifts and Legacy giving. They will build and manage a strong pipeline of donors and prospects, cultivating long‑term philanthropic support for the charity.
The role also carries responsibility for developing strategic corporate partnerships with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) alignment, and values‑led partnerships that deliver sustainable mutual benefit.
They will drive the charity’s communications and supporter experience. Working with the wider fundraising team, the postholder will help design and deliver a communications plan, oversee development of social media, maintain website content, and produce print and digital materials to support fundraising and raise awareness of fundraising opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Individual Giving, major donor, legacy and Trust & Foundation income streams.
- Develop and steward high‑value supporter and corporate relationships aligned to charity values and ESG.
- Produce compelling fundraising communications, proposals and impact reporting.
- Use insight and performance data to drive income growth and supporter engagement.

Essential Requirements
- Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent experience) and GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Significant experience delivering major donor, individual giving, legacy and/or corporate fundraising, with a track record of securing substantial or multi‑year income
- Proven ability to develop and deliver fundraising strategies, programmes and compelling cases for support
- Excellent relationship‑building, communication and presentation skills, including handling sensitive conversations
- Strong analytical capability, using data, insight and CRM systems to inform decisions and improve performance
- Confident, creative and persuasive storyteller across written and verbal communications
- Experience building new programmes and partnerships, including CSR/ESG‑aligned corporates
- Ability to manage people, priorities and multiple deadlines effectively
- Strategic, detail‑focused, proactive and resilient, with a strong values‑led and supporter‑centred approach
- Sound knowledge of fundraising regulation, GDPR and best practice
- Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends

- Events Marketing
- To oversee the scheduling, production and distribution of promotional e-mails for our events. Liaise with comms team to promote events across AvMA media platform To work on the development of the events pages on the new AvMA web site. Ensuring event web pages are kept up-to-date. To carry out data analysis and web analytics to determine what people are responding to and to highlight the areas we may need to focus/re-focus.
Events Logistics & Management
- In conjunction with the Head of Events, to undertake the production and organisation of events, including inviting and liaising with speakers and arranging event logistics. Effective liaison with speakers, ensuring they have all the information required to participate in the event and providing deadlines for receiving their presentation and biography. To work on site at events as required and run smaller events on your own. Duties will involve setting-up and administering registration, liaising with the venue, greeting speakers and exhibitors, dealing with enquiries from delegates and making sure the event runs smoothly. Production of the online conference documentation, to include speaker presentations.
Research & Event Development
- Help identify and research potential subject areas on which we may want to run events. Keep a close eye on the medico-legal events sector market and other events taking place. Help identify potential new sponsors and exhibitors for our events.
Events CRM
- Develop a sound understanding of AvMA’s new CRM, ensuring we optimise it for the efficient and effective marketing of events.
- To assist if/as required with bookings and booking queries for AvMA’s events.
Other

MAIN PURPOSE:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fundraising Manager to lead and grow a diverse income portfolio across multiple fundraising disciplines.
This is a leadership role responsible for contributing to and delivering a national fundraising strategy aligned to Brainkind’s organisational priorities, financial sustainability goals, and growth ambitions.
The postholder will manage and develop a small fundraising team, embed high-performance standards, and drive income generation across statutory trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate partnerships, community fundraising, events, and individual giving.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to, develop and deliver a multi-year fundraising strategy to achieve sustainable income growth.
- Set and manage annual income targets exceeding £500k to £1m.
- Identify new income streams aligned to Brainkind’s service model and expansion priorities.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align fundraising with operational and strategic objectives.
Income Generation (All Disciplines)
Lead and oversee income generation across:
- Trusts & Foundations – Develop compelling proposals for health, social care and rehabilitation funding.

Purpose of role
The Business Development Manager will lead our efforts to secure high-profile, high-value partnerships with corporate organisations that will generate vital income for children's palliative care. Securing new partnerships and growing our income requires exceptional collaboration skills; a driven, tenacious and resourceful nature; innovation and creativity; and a passionate determination to make a difference to the lives of children and families across the UK.
