St Leonards Youth & Community Centre are looking for someone with accounting experience to join the Board as a Trustee to advise on financial matters, ensure we meet our financial obligations, and help us build a sound financial strategy.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the charity and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. The Treasurer leads the financial affairs of the charity and ensures that they are conducted within required legal and accounting best practice. It is also the responsibility of the Treasurer to work in partnership with the Chairperson and other trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the organisation.
Key tasks:
- ensure the board fulfils its financial responsibilities
- ensure that the Charity has proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurance and reporting
- inform the trustee board members of the finances of the Charity by written report, at least on a quarterly basis ensuring that the board have a clear picture of the financial health of the food bank
- ensure that financial reports: are comprehensible and properly discussed at trustee board meetings; are provided in the proper format and at the proper time, as required by the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales); have properly appointed auditors or independent examiners, as our income is over £25K
Other responsibilities, along with the board of trustees, include:
- to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives
- to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk and not over-commit the charity
- to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate
- to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled appropriately
- To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored and progress is evaluated
- to provide financial statements
- to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries
- to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding and GDPR compliance/data protection
- to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.

Help Steer a Life-Saving Service: SOS Bus Norwich Seeks a New Chair. A strategic leader to help steer this volunteer-led charity making sure the nighttime community of Norwich is safe, healthy, empowered and protected.
About SOS Bus
SOS Bus Norwich is a multi-agency initiative offering a safe space and frontline support to anyone in need during Norwich’s nightlife. Staffed by trained volunteers and medical professionals, it provides help with illness, injury, emotional distress, vulnerability, or getting home safely. The bus acts as a crucial first point of contact for anyone whose well-being is at risk.
What will you be doing?
You'll be taking over from the current Chair, Dr Jamie Mather. He and his fellow founding trustees have established the charity, its identity, processes, governance and strategy and this is an opportunity to work with a refreshed board and an amazing volunteer team as they move onto the next stage of their journey.
Alongside the responsibilities of a trustee the Chair will:
- Plan and chair board meetings (or appoint a deputy if absent), ensuring they are effective and purposeful.
- Provide leadership to help the board meet its governance responsibilities.
- Act as a key spokesperson, alongside the operational manager.
- Ensure trustees receive accurate, timely, and clear information (with support from admin and advisors).
- Promote unity and constructive discussion among trustees.
- Support and liaise closely with the operational manager.
- Lead the operational manager’s appraisal and, if needed, recruitment of senior staff.
- Serve as the link between trustees, management, and volunteers.
- Take urgent or strategic action between board meetings when required and authorised.

Time Commitment
Estimated time commitment is 5-15 hours a month – including a board meeting (set) and work around individual brief (in one’s own time).
Board meetings:
- Board meetings are held monthly.
- 2/3rds of trustee meetings are online via MS Teams and 1/3rd are face to face.
- Face to face meetings held in various locations around Norwich.
- Our future plan is to move to quarterly board meetings with 75% face to face attendance.

This encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and includes supporting their families and those close to them. We care for around 3,000 patients and their families every year. About the CARAS ESOL Team:
Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to adults at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling people to attend college and access other services in the future.
About the Role:
CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face adult ESOL classes in Tooting. Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session every Wednesday during these times:

Mondays ESOL 9:30 to 13:30

Tuesday 9:30 to 11:30

Tuesday One-to-one employability and language learning support 15:00 to 17:00
Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.
Volunteer tasks and responsibilities:

Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes;

Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session;

As a Welcome volunteer, you will be an invaluable part of the Birmingham team, supporting the hub to deliver vital frontline services. About CARAS:
Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a charity that supports refugees and people seeking asylum who live in south London. We offer a range of individual and group support to improve the holistic wellbeing of people who have a background of forced migration, providing them with tools to build lives filled with value, meaning and purpose in the UK. Our activities for young people currently include: ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages), study group, youth club, swimming lessons and football.
About Youth Club:
Youth Club is a place for young people aged 14-19 to come and play games, learn new skills, make and strengthen friendships and build a sense of belonging. Regular activities include classic youth club games such as table tennis, pool, foosball, board and card games. We also work in partnership with a range of organisations to run a rich programme of workshops within our youth club. Some of these have included creative visual arts, drama, music and workshops on rights and entitlements of young asylum seekers. We also cook a hot meal from time to time and offer a range of snacks each week. Our casework team are also on-site to support young people with a range of advice and signposting needs, usually by-appointment.
Youth club takes place at Tooting Hub- Beechcroft Road, Tooting, SW17 7BU
About the role:
As a Youth Club volunteer, you would be helping young people to feel welcome, join in with activities and be a great role model.
Youth Club takes place every Wednesday at 6.00-8.30pm. We ask for a commitment of at least 2 sessions per month for a minimum of 6 months.
Tasks and responsibilities:
· To attend and contribute to volunteer de-briefs which occur 15 minutes after each session.
· To act as a positive role model and set standards of behaviour when volunteering with young people.
· To encourage and inspire young people to reach their full potential.
· To assist young people to both recognise and celebrate their achievements.
· To challenge young peoples’ negative attitudes and behaviour in an appropriate manner.
· To adhere to CARAS Child Protection procedures, Confidentiality policy, Health & Safety policy, Equal Opportunities policy and all other policies as relevant.
Requirements:
To be 18 years or older;
· To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
· To be reliable and punctual;
· Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English;
· The ability to volunteer on Wednesday evenings for a minimum of six months;
· Current resident of the UK;
· Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check;
· Able to attend compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding prior to the start of role
Volunteer induction training currently takes place online once a month on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm. we offer the same trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday daytimes online between 12noon - 2pm once every 3 months.
Your availability to attend 1 general and 1 safeguarding online training session at these times within 3 months of your application would be a prerequisite of being accepted as a volunteer at CARAS.
Desirable:

EVENTS VOLUNTEER (Guildford & Epsom Branch)
We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible and play an absolutely essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day. Much of the RSPCA’s direct animal welfare work is carried out through the branches. These separately registered charities across England and Wales are run by volunteers who are unstinting in their work for animal welfare.
We are looking for friendly volunteers to help fundraise at fetes, in supermarkets and other outlets to collect vital donations that enable us to continue our animal welfare work. The more volunteers we have and funds we can raise, the more animals we can help!
Overview of the opportunity
In this role, you will be the friendly face of the RSPCA, helping us raise funds for our branch at community fetes and in local high streets, supermarkets and similar outlets.
This varied role offers you the chance to experience different volunteering positions, ranging from street collections and in-store fundraising drives to attendance at local community fetes. Each of these events are equally important to raising vital funds as well as raising our profile in the community.
Volunteering at events offers you the opportunity to meet other volunteers and learn about how you each support the RSPCA. You will most likely meet animals that we have rehomed and hear about their adoption journey.
If you have a relaxed dog that likes meeting people, you are welcome to bring them along with you to street collections and fundraising drives as this is always a conversation starter!
Location is dependent on the event at which you choose to volunteer, you will be out in the community in the local area
What you will be doing

- Street collections and fundraising drives: standing with a collection bucket, greeting members of the public and thanking them for any donations.
- Fetes and fairs: potentially assisting with set up or pack away, handling money from sales of chatting to members of the public and thanking them for any purchases they make.
- Helping seek out event opportunities and organising them.

Information and Advice Service: The Information and Advice service for older people provides a free, confidential, and independent service for anyone aged 65+ living in Bromley and 50 + in Greenwich. Our advisors provide general advice on a range of subjects: employment rights, welfare benefits, housing, consumer rights and adult social care.
Role Summary: Provide information and signposting to older people living in Bromley and Greenwich and provide admin support to the Information and Advice Team, helping to keep the information resources up to date.
What will I be involved in?
- Answering calls and basic enquiries coming into our Information and Advice Service, full training is provided. Present and discuss information with the client in an accessible manner.
- Committed to researching and providing up to date information to vulnerable older people using the internet and other resources.
- Identify and research information relevant to the user’s situation, drawing on resources available.
- Being online and knowledgeable of Microsoft packages and the use of emails
- Liase closely with the Advice Case Supervisor, other advisors, and wider staff team. Seeking guidance and support where required.
- Successfully complete online training courses for Age UK Bromley and Greenwich volunteers.
- Participate in volunteer support meetings with the Advice Case Supervisor and any training on safeguarding adults and appropriate boundaries.
- At all times work in accordance with the organisation’s policies regarding Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Confidentiality & Data Protection. Lone working.

What are we looking for?
A talented, reliable and committed individual with varied commercial and charity experience, to provide additional guidance and contribute to the strategic direction of the charity, as Chair of Trustees and line manager to the centre’s General Manager.

Organisation of meetings, and support to the executive team is anticipated to take around 5 hours per week, although this could vary significantly, as specific projects may involve additional work and time.
What will you be doing?
As an individual with experience and knowledge of how successful organisations operate, you will coordinate meetings and make decisions with the Board of Trustees and the General Manager to help design, implement and support strategies that will enhance the long-term sustainability of the charity. You will work closely with other Trustees, and get to know about clients, staff, partners and beneficiaries. You will make a difference by bringing your commercial acumen, and specialist knowledge to drive efficiency within the charity’s operations and ensure that opportunities to demonstrate best practice are identified in all that we do. You will be curious and willing to challenge the status quo, but also support, coach and mentor.
As Chair of the Board you will ensure that meetings are relevant, timely, well planned, structured and concise. In doing all of this, you will play a key role in helping to secure the future of the charity by achieving its objectives in the immediate and long term.
Preference may be given to individuals who are connected to our community, with local knowledge and networks. We will also welcome diversity on the Board, in our quest to represent our community fully, particularly youth, disability and ethnic minorities.

We are an independent charity, based at the Pavilion on the Park in Eastleigh. We exist to promote active and flourishing lives by creating a variety of energising and enriching experiences which connect people and build community. We do this by:

Little Pixies & Pixies Plus – stay, learn and play activities for 0–8-year-olds and their adult carers.

In addition, The Blackbird Café is open seven-days a week and provides locally sourced, home-cooked cakes and savouries. The Brompton Fountain is a children's charity working with those impacted by heart and lung conditions in Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. As a Community Workshop Assistant volunteer, you will be an invaluable part of the Birmingham team, supporting the hub to deliver frontline services. This role is an exciting and new opportunity to make a real difference within the wider community.
