In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the Consumer Insight and Experience (CIX) team's insight into Cancer Research UK's fundraising propositions. What will I be doing?

• Leading on Consumer Insight and Experience activity for our fundraising proposition and product teams; identifying and aligning requests across product and marketing, facilitating prioritisation and managing workload

• Developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders, working closely with them to understand their insight requirements and ambitions, and providing guidance on the most appropriate insight projects or programmes of work to meet their goals

• Leading primary and secondary research projects, including commissioning market research agencies, managing project timelines and overseeing costs and data quality checks to ensure projects deliver robust and actionable research findings

• Keeping pace with new insight approaches and techniques, sharing knowledge with stakeholders and the wider Consumer Insight and Experience team to ensure that we have the most efficient and cost-effective solutions to insight challenges

• Driving collaboration by partnering closely with colleagues within Data, Insight and Performance, and Insight teams across CRUK to devise the optimal approach to solving insight challenges within your area

• Line managing one direct report, overseeing their projects to ensure that high standards of quality, accuracy and value for money are achieved.

• As a senior member of the Consumer Insight and Experience team you will be responsible for creating a positive culture which recognises success, develops and drives high performance and rewards results to retain talent within the team and wider function.

What are we looking for?

• Extensive experience of managing market research projects from inception to completion including writing briefs, managing agency procurement, ensuring clear objectives and producing actionable outputs

• Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and significant experience of deploying appropriate methodologies to drive actionable insight

• Excellent project management and planning skills with ability to prioritise workload across multiple areas and manage ambiguity.

They will develop and deliver outcome-led fundraising strategies that work within the broader University fundraising and communications environment and achieve philanthropic fundraising targets. 

About the Candidate

Working in close collaboration with the Senior Mass Fundraising Lead, the role will manage and deliver a variety of community-led fundraising initiatives and dynamic challenge events that engage supporters and generate vital unrestricted funds for children affected by neuroblastoma.

Job Overview:

The Management Accountant will be pivotal in providing accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support decision-making across our care homes and retirement villages. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure the company’s financial performance is closely monitored and aligned with organisational goals.

You will be responsible for managing month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting and providing insights into financial performance for our retirement villages. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a business that positively affects people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting & Analysis:

o Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for care homes, nursery and retirement villages.

o Analyse financial performance and variances, providing actionable insights to senior management.

o Provide financial analysis to support key decision-making, highlighting cost-saving and efficiency improvements opportunities.

• Budgeting & Forecasting:

o Work with departmental managers and Head of Finance to create annual budgets and financial forecasts for individual homes and the group.

o Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting, revising financial projections based on changing business conditions.

• Cost Control & Financial Performance:

o Monitor operational costs and identify areas for cost reduction, ensuring financial controls are in place.

o Support the procurement process by evaluating supplier contracts and ensuring cost-effective purchasing.

• Compliance & Audit:

o Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS, FRS 102, VAT).

o Assist in preparing year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.

• Stakeholder Engagement:

o Work closely with village and care home managers, the senior finance team, and external auditors.

o Present financial results to non-financial managers and ensure financial understanding across the business.

• System and Process Improvement:

o Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes.

Key Requirements:

• Qualifications and skills:

o Formal accounting qualification (eg ACA, ACCA) is essential.

o Advanced understanding of accounting principles and practices.

o Familiarity with medium/large accounting software.

o Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven decisions.

o Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).

About The Role

We are looking for an Operations Administration Assistant to provide efficient and proactive administrative and operational support to the Senior Management Team, and the wider operations and regional team as required. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth delivery of services by coordinating documentation, supporting data processes, and assisting with project implementation across the Trust’s care environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Executive & Team Support

- Managing calendar, travel bookings, and expense submissions.

- Prepare and format professional reports, presentations, and briefings.

- Assist in producing communication materials, including brochures and digital content.

2. Operational Coordination

- Monitor and report on incidents, accidents, and key compliance data across services.

- Collate and maintain the KPI data from care homes and villages.

3. Project Support

- Assist in implementing strategic and business continuity plans.

Working in partnership with West Yorkshire & Harrogate Cancer Alliance (WYHCA), we aim to help reduce cancer rates through our Cancer SMART project, which raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, so people are better informed, attend screening and know where to go for help.

Our Patient VIEW project is dedicated to representing the voices of patients, carers and service users, ensuring they are central to decision-making processes within cancer care.

We provide impartial and independent information and listen to those affected by cancer to ensure that they are supported.  We signpost to other charities and support groups, share information, recruit for research studies and share stories via our monthly newsletter.

Key Tasks

1. To engage, manage and supervise Cancer Champions for the delivery of the Cancer SMART  programme with collaboration between Yorkshire Cancer Community and West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance.

2. To build relationships with charities, organisations and diverse groups where we can take Cancer SMART talks and information stalls.

3. To identify, develop and liaise with local individuals and support groups to encourage engagement and involvement within their own cancer communities.  The aim is to provide a channel for patient participation to influence cancer service development and improvement.

4. To administer and oversee the collation and sharing of information relative to the objectives of YCC by using the appropriate means of communication. This will include social media, the website, calendar of events, effective use of YCC data sources and the newsletter.

5. To work with the Board of Trustees to support the governance of the charity which will include the preparation and management of trustee meetings, contribute towards Business planning and unding strategies.

6. To provide supportive supervision to the Administrator and Patient View Coordinator
