Join a small commercial team with big ambitions for the public library sector.  We see libraries as part of the solution for some of the biggest challenges in society, and one of the ways we want to bring the reach and strength of the library sector into these discussions is through contracted delivery of national services through the local library networks. 

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to help us realise our plans to secure a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from, according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

Main purpose of role: 

• Support the delivery of commercial projects across the library sector
• Lead the bidding process for new contracts and services
• Manage the mobilisation and setup of contracts and services
• Manage the ongoing delivery of commercial contracts and services including management reporting and contract / service optimisation to increase benefit to the libraries and sector
• Support the development of commercial skills and capacity across the library sector
• Contribute to the growing commercial awareness and understanding within the organisation, its partners and its members.

Learning and Development Advisor

We are looking for a proactive and passionate Learning and Development Advisor to lead on the review, implementation and ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of the Leadership Development Programme.

About the role:

The postholder will support the delivery of a specialist domestic abuse (DA) project in partnership with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) in the London borough of Brent. The role aims to raise awareness and promote best practice in responding to domestic abuse across CLCH staff, improving support for patients impacted by domestic abuse. This will involve delivering training, workshops, and guidance to health professionals, providing consultancy on embedding DA response pathways, and helping CLCH navigate referrals to local domestic abuse support agencies. The role combines professional training, advocacy, and systems change to strengthen the health sector’s response to domestic abuse. The postholder will work across the Brent borough, attending community hubs and co-locating to deliver services when needed.

The postholder may be approached by staff seeking advice or consultation regarding male victims of domestic abuse. While the role’s primary focus remains on supporting women, the postholder will be open to supporting male victims through appropriate signposting and referral guidance. They will also be willing to undertake relevant training (e.g. Respect toolkit) to ensure inclusive and informed responses. Training will be provided.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Advisor & Trainer you will need the below experience and skills:

• A thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.
• Experience in designing, delivering, and promoting engaging training and learning sessions on domestic abuse, tailored to professionals and stakeholders across a variety of settings.
• Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders as well as experience of working within in multi-agency environment.
• Ability to provide consultancy and guidance to multidisciplinary teams on domestic abuse-related issues, offering informed advice and support.

Purpose of Role

Group Facilitators play a crucial role in delivering a range of therapeutic sessions aimed at supporting the wellbeing of survivors of sexual violence. The Group Facilitator offers empowering peer support, fostering a sense of community and understanding among participants.

Through these therapeutic sessions, survivors are empowered to regain control over their lives, build resilience, and navigate their healing journey. The facilitator provides valuable guidance, emotional validation, and tools for coping and self-care, and they serve as a compassionate guide, helping survivors of sexual violence find strength, connection, and healing.

Main responsibilities include:

•  Leading group intervention sessions for male, adolescent, and non-binary survivors of sexual abuse, assault, and rape.
• Collaborating with the Group Work Manager and the organisation's safeguarding lead to effectively address safeguarding concerns.
• Documenting client interactions, participation, and identified risks using our client case management system and by adhering to organisational protocols.
• Formulating comprehensive plans for group sessions, further refine the group model, and conduct risk assessments when necessary.
• Prioritising ongoing monitoring and evaluation, ensuring the timely and accurate recording of outcomes to gauge effectiveness.

Job Title: Teaching and Assessment Research Specialist

Salary: up to £39,500 per annum

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a postgraduate-level researcher who wishes to combine their expertise in education research and astute understanding of real-life classroom practice. While the role will sit within the Chartered College of Teaching, the postholder will also receive mentoring from Professor Bill Lucas, Professor of Learning and Director of the Centre for Real-Life Learning at the University of Winchester, providing a rare opportunity to combine academically rigorous research with real-life application. As part of a project funded by the Comino Foundation, the Teaching and Assessment Research Specialist will help to increase teachers’ assessment literacy by managing a portfolio of assessment-themed online events, developing a suite of assessment-themed resources, co-ordinating the work of the Next Generation Assessment group and developing an overview of evidence-informed teaching and assessment strategies and how they link to intended student outcomes, based on a series of rapid evidence reviews.

Over the course of the assignment, you will support the Head of Research and Policy and work closely with the Research Lead and the Events and Engagement Manager to create and manage an engaging portfolio of online, assessment-themed events and resources.

This would be an ideal opportunity for anyone with proven expertise in and understanding of the links between evidence-informed teaching and assessment approaches and how they link to desired learning outcomes. You will:

• rapidly review evidence of assessment methods and pedagogies designed to cultivate knowledge, skills and dispositions of pupils, identifying gaps
• with support, produce evidence synthesis for a small number of key methods, not currently widely used by teachers
• manage a portfolio of online events aimed at developing teachers’ and school leaders’ levels of assessment literacy
• co-ordinate the work of the Next Generation Assessment group
• create online resources for the Chartered College member platform relating to evidence-informed teaching and assessment.

The postholder will also be required to collate policy announcements around assessment and monitor any developments relating to the use of EdTech and AI for assessment. The ultimate aim of this work is to help illustrate that the common ‘trad’ versus ‘prog’ debates that still dominate many discussions in education are ultimately unhelpful and teachers need a wide range of different teaching approaches to help support a range of intended learning outcomes. Skills and experience

Essential

• Postgraduate qualification in Education or a relevant field
• Experience conducting rapid evidence reviews relating to teaching, learning and assessment
• Experience of teaching in schools in the UK or internationally
• Experience producing content for a range of audiences including teachers, school leaders and policymakers
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of effective, evidence-informed approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment
• Experience developing and managing an online portfolio of events and resources
• Experience managing and chairing meetings, including the production of written summaries of discussions for a wide range of audiences

Service delivery

• Lead the day-to-day management of Ella’s safe houses, and outreach services

• Ensure all caseworkers provide high-quality, holistic support tailored to each woman’s needs
