M&E Compliance Manager

About the Role
This pivotal role will manage, and coordinate inspections and remedial works related to gas, electrical safety, water hygiene, asbestos, fire safety, and lifts. You’ll lead a small team and work closely with delivery partners, ensuring that all compliance activities are effectively scheduled, completed, and auditable in line with legislation and sector best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering planned compliance work programmes and overseeing contractor performance.
• Leading statutory inspections and managing compliance records via property databases.
• Providing assurance that IDS meets the standards set by the Regulatory Framework for Social Housing and other regulatory bodies.
• Managing and developing a small team of Compliance Officers.
• Promoting a strong culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.

About You
You’ll bring a strong background in property compliance, a working knowledge of building safety legislation, and the leadership skills to drive performance and improvement.

You will have:

• Proven experience in managing statutory M&E compliance in a housing or property context
• A relevant technical or compliance qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IWFM, HNC/HND in Building Services)
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, the Building Safety Act 2022, and CDM regulations
• Demonstrable success managing contractors and compliance systems
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical and reporting capability using system-based compliance data
• A values-led approach and the ability to thrive under pressure

The Passage are an incredible London charity providing people experiencing homelessness with the support to transform their lives. Their vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home. In 2023-24, they supported over 2000 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and prevented nearly 900 people from becoming homeless through a variety of services.

This permanent role is based in Westminster, London and comes with a salary of £40,148 (inclusive of London weighting). About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Challenge Events Manager to lead and grow our challenge events programme at The Passage. This new role offers a unique opportunity to shape a new events strategy, inspire supporters, and drive sustainable income. You'll manage third-party and bespoke events, build supporter journeys, and create engaging content to foster community and loyalty. Working closely with the wider team, you'll bring fresh ideas, test new concepts, and deliver high-quality events that raise both funds and our profile.

Role and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be joining at an incredibly exciting time at The Passage, with challenge events having grown in profile and prominence over the past 12-18 months - with an incredible 50 people signed up for the Hackney Half this year, it is the start of something exciting for the fundraising team.

The postholder will:

• Lead the delivery and development of The Passage's Challenge Events strategy, expanding the portfolio and growing net income.
• Research, test, and implement new events to diversify fundraising opportunities and attract new supporters.
• Provide tailored stewardship to individuals and groups, enhancing supporter journeys and retention.
• Collaborate with internal teams to drive corporate participation, deliver compelling marketing campaigns, and support volunteer-led fundraising.
• Oversee third-party relationships, ensure value for money, and manage event safety through robust risk assessments
• Produce and manage the Challenge Events income and expenditure annual plan and budget.

About You:

You will bring passion, ambition and energy about the work of The Passage combined with the essential skills to build and deliver a brilliant calendar of challenge events. This will include:

• Proven track record and knowledge in delivering third-party and bespoke challenge events, including participant recruitment and supporter stewardship.
• Experience in recruiting engaged and passionate fundraisers/participants and building long-term relationships through excellent supporter engagement.
• Skilled in planning and executing mass participation and third-party events, often in collaboration with external agencies.
• Strong ability to use data, insight, and market trends to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities.
• Demonstrated success in setting budgets, achieving income targets, and driving portfolio growth.
• Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce and experience working within the charity sector.

• Collaborate with the marketing, brand, digital and press teams to develop our content themes, and create content for various platforms including social media, website, email campaigns, and press releases.

• Support in delivering brand and communications activities for key partnerships and stakeholders as required. 

• Manage projects in an account management type structure, ensuring timely and effective execution of communication plans and initiatives.

Must haves:

• Extensive experience in strategic communications, with a strong background in marketing, branding, and digital. 
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies for a range of audiences promoting a range of CTAs. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. 

• Experience of creating a range of content for different platforms, from video and infographic to web pages and social media posts. 

• Experience of managing communications partnerships and or campaigns with third party organisations. 

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and evidenced experience in ability to record and report effectively on communications projects through systems such as Microsoft Planner. 

• Proficiency in using communication and marketing tools, such as social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics software.

• Proactive approach to delivery – key part of this role will be to ensure that relevant senior communications colleagues are kept informed and consulted on key projects.

Extra Information

You will join us at an exciting time as we are looking to develop our youth engagement work, building on the success of the Blue Influencers youth social action programme. The Generation Wild programme is fully-funded until August 2027. An important part of this role will involve working with a Knowledge Transfer Partner to transfer and embed knowledge from the Psychology and Business Schools at Cardiff University, helping us to demonstrate the impact of the programme and develop new funding and delivery models to enable it to continue beyond August 2027.

For this role, we can offer flexibility around working from home if required. It is expected the role will need to work from their site base a few times a month and as required for key meetings. The successful candidate will be required to travel to the seven wetland centres across the UK where Generation Wild is delivered.

We're looking for someone with a passion for opening up opportunities for all young people to benefit from connecting with nature, irrespective of their background or ability.

Ideally you'll have experience of:

• nature-based learning with young people alongside experience of managing large-scale projects.
• working with disadvantaged groups and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities would be an advantage.

This is a management role and as such does not involve direct delivery to young people. However, you will need to be able to support others in doing so and an understanding of the pressures facing schools and their teachers would also be an advantage.

About the role

As our Financial Analysis Manager, you will take a coaching approach to the line management of our five-person team and ensure the team are engaged, motivated and effective, supported to drive their own development and delivers its outcomes.  You will also be expected to produce expert strategic financial analysis, insight and reporting and an excellent user experience for both wider colleagues at Shelter and external stakeholders and to assist the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the management of the budgeting and forecasting cycles.

We will also count on you to manage the Financial Analysis team’s work in the monthly reporting cycle and work closely with Financial Control and Operations management on the continual development and improvement of these processes.  Ensuring the Financial Analysis team is effective in reviewing bids for external funding, preparing timely and accurate reports on spending against restricted funds, and supporting budget holders around Shelter in financial management of restricted projects are also key elements of the role.

Role specifics

Influential, analytical and collaborative, you will be a qualified accountant with a proven record of leading a team, and you’re able to work effectively with stakeholders, both internally and externally. A natural communicator, both verbal and written, you will also have excellent time management and prioritisation skills, while a flexible, proactive and professional approach to your work is essential. Strong analytical skills along with impeccable attention to detail, and a high level of numeracy are a must-have for this role, as is experience of business partnering, or equivalent relationship development. You’ll have strong Excel skills and proficient in the main Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook and work, and experience of using financial planning software is desirable.
