About the role

• Be a key point of contact for receiving and processing referrals to the Providence Row, Resource Centre.
• Complete assessments of those referred to the Centre
• Make statutory and non-statutory housing referrals dependant on the persons need and eligibility.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including outreach teams, health services, City of London Police and other support organisations.
• Work within the Team Around Me model, engaging closely with the City Outreach Teams and the Navigator service to develop and implement joint action plans for people rough sleeping.
• Connect City clients with essential health services to address tri-morbidity—the complex combination of physical ill health, mental health, and substance use that often affects individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.
• Facilitate referrals to training, employability, and volunteering programs to support long-term stability and independence.

132 Assessment Centre is for single homeless men and women that have links within the borough. The accommodation provides 6 separate self-contained units with on suite bedrooms, and 1 bedroomed flat. The scheme is staffed 24 hours, with Night Support Workers and Concierge cover during the evenings.

The aim of the project is to assess the individual over a 12-week period with the aim of identifying their support and housing needs. In that period, we will provide a bed for the customer to assist staff to carry out a detailed assessment to ensure that the recommendation for move on into alternative housing is captured correctly to assist move on for the individual into more suitable accommodation which is correct reflective of their needs based on our assessment/recommendation.

The role will be on a shift basis: 7.30am to 3.30pm and 2.00pm to 10pm.The team comprises of: Move on coordinator,Therapist, Housing Officer, 16 Support workers, Team Leaders x 2 and Project Manager.

What you'll do:
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs including support needs and daily living skills. This would include potential risks and an assessment of the customers independent living skills as a whole.
- The initial and co-produced assessment will incorporate models of co-production, observation, and person-centred planning. This is with a view that it is solution focused as to provide a framework for progression towards independent living.
- Liaise with partner agencies regarding the assessment process seeking advice and guidance as to specialist input and clinical input as part of multi-disciplinary assessment process.
- Create support/ action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available.

Job Description: Food Sourcing and Gleaning Officer 

Reporting to: Head of Food and Logistics

Department: Operations 

Salary: £25,000-£27,000 per annum 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8.30am – 5pm) 

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00 

Contract: Fixed Term until 31st March 2026

Purpose of the Role 

The Food Sourcing and Gleaning Officer plays a key role in FareShare South West’s mission to reduce food waste and fight hunger across the South West. You will be responsible for developing FareShare South West’s network of local suppliers, increasing the number of donations of good to eat surplus food to the organisation. The role also includes a focus on gleaning, this is the mobilisation of volunteers to pick surplus farm crops to be sent out to our network of charities. This forms part of a gleaning pilot project that is happening in 2025-26.

As an ambassador for FareShare South West, you will provide excellent customer service to food suppliers and work closely with our operations and logistics team to ensure food is transported safely, efficiently, and with care. 

Key Responsibilities 

Local Food Sourcing 

• Support delivery of the Local Food Sourcing Strategy to build a sustainable and expanding supply of local food. Complementing national food partners and matching this with the needs of a diverse Community Food Member base. Delivering a consistent supply of food throughout the year whilst adapting to seasonal fluctuations, and specific projects. 

• Research potential food sources by geography, type, and sector (retail, wholesale, producer, grower). 

• Conduct outreach to establish and broker supplier relationships, including on-site visits and securing food supplies in line with growth plans. 

• Participate in working groups with other FareShare regional centres to share local food sourcing opportunities and share best practice on gleaning projects. 

• Implement a gleaning project involving volunteers to harvest surplus produce from farms across the South West. Working closely with the corporate volunteer coordinator to organise and support gleaning activities. 

• Track and report the success of these gleaning activities in line with the projects KPIs.

• Expand the network of surplus food suppliers in the South West, with emphasis on Cornish companies. 

• Work with the Communications team to develop supplier engagement content such as impact stories, case studies, and visual materials. Also support the planning and execution of an event to engage more food suppliers.

Logistics 

• Coordinate logistics to cost-effectively receive surplus food. Supporting the Head of Food and Logistics in managing dedicated vehicles for food collection and liaising with warehouse staff to optimize use of the van fleet for additional collections. 

• Oversee safe and compliant movement of stock across sites to maintain adequate inventory levels for order fulfilment.

• Serve as a point of contact with FareShare UK and other regional centres on food sourcing and logistics matters. 

Food Management 

• Managing ad-hoc food offers from FareShare UK, balancing operational and storage capacity across sites. 

• Collaborate with warehouses and membership teams to understand member needs and allocate unusual food and non-food offers efficiently. 

• Act as liaison between operations teams and external suppliers, providing feedback and escalating issues as needed. 

General 

• Represent FSSW in local partnerships and collaborations focused on reducing food waste and surplus. 

• Maintain accurate and accessible records of food sourcing activities and provide timely performance updates to Head of Food and Logistics for monthly Food & Logistics reporting. 

• Contribute to annual budgets and strategic planning as required. 

• Ensure compliance with FareShare national policies, procedures, and relevant legal frameworks. 

• Undertake other administrative duties as necessary. 

• Support the food team function in the absence of the Head of Food and Logistics.

Person Specification 

Essential Criteria 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build and maintain trusted relationships and foster collaboration. 

• Experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, preferably in the food or operations industry.

• Experience in supply chain, or logistics coordination, ideally in the charity or food sector. Showing a high level of attention to detail. 

• Understanding of food safety, health and safety, and compliance related to food handling and transport.

Community Outreach Worker (Complex Needs Housing Service)

Purpose of Post

The Community Outreach Worker (Complex Needs Housing Service) provides advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. They ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly, they remain a source of independent support for all clients and they will embed a person centred recovery orientated and trauma informed approach in all aspects of the role.

About the Service

The Complex Needs Housing Service works as a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs.

Service Objectives

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health in, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To reduce the use of police, ASB, tenancy enforcement, housing needs and environmental health services by clients whose primary need is related to mental ill health.
• To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health with positive outcomes for the individual.
• To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.
• To work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of Change Grow Live (CGL), District and Borough councils, housing teams and other professionals.

Purpose of the Role

The Hub Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a FSSW hub, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations that maximise the volume of surplus food received, stored, and distributed to our Community Food Members (CFMs). This includes managing a mixed team of staff, FareChance employability participants and volunteers in their operational tasks, maintaining high operational and health & safety standards, and collaborating with colleagues across food & logistics, compliance, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

• Oversee and manage the safe and efficient daily operation of the hub, ensuring essential tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Ensure the hub is appropriately set up to meet Key Performance Indicators and goods in and deliveries out, working closely with the Head of Operations.
• Use FareShare UK (FSUK)’s digital stock system to manage product movements and maintain stock accuracy. Lead weekly stock takes and investigate discrepancies in collaboration with the compliance and food teams.
• Oversee the smooth intake and dispatch of food, liaising with food donors, FSUK, transport providers, and partners. Ensure food deliveries meet acceptance criteria and report any quality issues promptly.
• Ensure the Hub Operations team maintain positive relationships with CFMs, ensuring high standards of service and communication.
• Play an active role in identifying solutions to operational challenges, in collaboration with the food, membership and volunteer teams.
• Coordinate and manage external contractors for maintenance and repairs.
• Provide procurement support to secure value for money on consumables and equipment.
• With support from the wider FSSW team, meet food waste KPIs to ensure that we effectively maximise food redistribution to CFMs.
• Ensure adequate stock of operational supplies and equipment to support daily operations.
• Responsible for the Hub Operations controllable costs budget. Oversee the management of on-site petty cash in line with financial controls.
• Work with the Head of Operations to improve systems and integrate new processes to support growth and efficiency.
• Carry out analysis of the fleet and its equipment including weekly vehicle checks and basic maintenance duties (e.g. tyre pressures, topping up vehicle fluids). Work with the Fleet Coordinator to ensure the on-site vehicle fleet is well maintained, roadworthy and compliant.
• Contribute to delivery of the Operations Strategy, including key developments for FSSW.
• Carry out other duties as required to support the successful running of the hub.

2. Team Management

• Provide strong day-to-day leadership to a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Delegate tasks, give regular feedback, and maintain an open, inclusive working environment.
• Manage, supervise, and develop Line Reports, including performance management, appraisals, and training.
• Support effective recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring appropriate support and shift cover. Identify shortfalls in rota cover and respond in effective and timely manner.
• Work with temporary staffing agencies to arrange short term hire drivers, when necessary.
• Collaborate with the Head of Operations and Volunteer Team to ensure effective volunteer induction and ongoing training. Support the Volunteer Manager in the delivery of corporate volunteer days.
• Register and onboard new drivers by delivering volunteer and staff driving assessments and agency driver inductions.
• Foster a positive and productive team culture in line with FareShare South West values.

3. FareChance Employability Programme

• Support the delivery of the FareChance programme by overseeing and supervising participants during operational tasks, ensuring they are actively engaged and contributing to the hub operations team.
• Ensure FareChance participants are effectively trained, supported, and equipped to carry out their allocated duties, with opportunities to build confidence and develop relevant skills, with support from the volunteer and employability teams.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that supports the health, safety and wellbeing of FareChance participants and enables them to thrive.
• Provide hands-on mentorship and act as a positive role model during day-to-day operations, supporting participants to build experience and confidence.

• Effectively manage and resolve incidents in line with emergency procedures, including product recalls and escalation protocols.
• Keep accurate, up-to-date records of all H&S activity, including staff and volunteer training, audits, corrective actions and incident reports.
• Support the development, communication and enforcement of H&S and compliance-related policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Ensure that all legal and FareShare South West requirements related to food safety and H&S are understood and adhered to on site.
• Operate in accordance with the FareShare HACCP Food Safety Manual and local environmental health regulations.
• Ensure the site is always audit-ready and support internal and external audits as required.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are used safely, regularly maintained, and reported if defective.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

• Lead on-site delivery of any compliance-related changes introduced by FSUK, ensuring they are followed through to completion and embedded in practice.
• Manage and enhance compliance of the hub premises in line with FareShare’s minimum operating standards and expectations for operational efficiency.
• Work with others to identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and workflows.
• Ensure operational audits and assessments are carried out, actions are followed up, and improvement plans delivered.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to support service development and innovation.

Fundraising & income generation 

· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.

The service offers specialist support to homeless men across a range of areas including re-offending behaviour, mental health issues, physical health needs and substance misuse. Edward Alsop Court implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. This is an approach to supporting people out of homelessness, those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder. It also considers the psychological needs of staff: developing skills and knowledge, increasing motivation, job satisfaction and resilience.
As a maintenance worker, you will be responsible for small responsive/maintenance items (for example replacement of bulbs, batteries, tightening of screws etc) to internal elements and components; PAT test items; internal decorations; cleaning of communal spaces; removal of minor items; fixture and fittings such as shower curtains, mirrors, bathroom fittings (toilet seats, toilet rolls holders etc); assembly furniture; bins removal; there will be a weekly rota with tasks allocated to each day which will be given weekly; support with shopping deliveries.

The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for all individual donor support processes, systems, strategies and individual giving fundraising appeals, which ensure we have excellent relationships with our donors to retain and grow our individual giving income. Powerful narratives, storytelling and engagement with donors is crucial to ensure that our funding need and impact is shared with supporters. 

The Individual Giving Manager will work with the Head of Fundraising and Deputy CEO to grow our major donor, regular giving, appeal and legacy income alongside sustaining our irregular giving and Gift Aid income. The Individual Giving Manager will line manage the Fundraising Assistant, which is a new entry-level fundraising role responsible for the development and day-to-day administration of our community fundraising income stream for individuals and our corporate community.

Person Specification Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

• Three years+ experience of working in a supporter care charity fundraising role.
• Understanding of fundraising principles, relationship marketing and supporter care.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level copy writing skills.
• Experience of working with communications staff to support multi-channel fundraising campaigns.
• Ability to work on your own initiative.Well-organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and targets.
• Good working knowledge of CRM databases and how to use them to steward supporters.
• Good knowledge of current data protection/GDPR regulation.
• Able to develop, initiate and maintain systems and procedures.
• IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel to sort and segment supporter data.
• A clear commitment to the ethos and strategic plans of FareShare South West, and able to positively contribute towards its achievement.

This role will be leading and developing the Volunteering and Employability functions for FSSW, alongside providing operational safeguarding support to the Safeguarding Team. The core volunteer program supports the running of the organisation as a whole every day and is embedded across all departments in Bristol and Plymouth. The Employability team runs a NEET Employability programme in our South Bristol warehouse 3 days a week, with administrative duties full time. This part of FSSW is expanding and your role will oversee the pilot and launch of another Employability programme in Plymouth.

In this role you will:

1.Be the senior management overseeing and supporting the running of our employability and volunteering functions across Bristol and Plymouth.

2. Support the organisation as the Operational Safeguarding Lead, working alongside the Strategic lead to oversee incidents and support the training and development of staff.

3. Lead on project development across both volunteering and employability as we grow our offer and launch a number of major organisational developments. This will include but is not limited to; policy, strategy, role and process development.

4. Build and work with our volunteer, employability and warehouse teams to ensure that they have the skills, knowledge, support and training opportunities needed to manage the volunteer workforce and deliver the employability programs across the charity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Line Management:

· Line management of Volunteer Manager based at Bedminster and St Jude’s in Bristol and the Volunteer team at Sisna Park in Plymouth

· Line management of two Employability Programme Leads based at both Bedminster and Inner-city Bristol office and future Plymouth based Employability staff

· Recruit and contract for any staffing gaps in the Volunteer and Employability Teams based on skills and expertise required

Volunteer Recruitment, Retention & Development:

· Oversee the volunteer managers who run the day-to-day of the volunteer programme

· Oversee the Volunteer teams to create a recruitment and retention plan to build a reliable voluntary workforce

· Support in any required monitoring and evaluation of the volunteering function

· Work with the Fundraising, Volunteer and Partnerships teams to develop corporate volunteering across Bristol and Plymouth, which generates a flow of committed corporate volunteers and income

· Support the development of the enrichment and pastoral aspect of the volunteer journey provided by the volunteer teams

· Develop community and broad stakeholder partnerships to support the volunteer functions across Bristol and Plymouth

· Oversee development of and then lead on reviews for relevant volunteer policies, processes and any necessary training

· Work with the wider leadership team on the volunteering function as we grow our offer alongside the major organisational developments

Employability Programme Management & Development:

· Overseeing the day-to-day management of the Employability Programme

· Working with the relevant Bristol teams on a review and consolidation of Employability and future development opportunities.

· Support in the development of future partnerships and opportunities to expand the work and impact of Employability

· Working with the Plymouth team on the development and launch of an Employability program

· Working with the fundraising team on aspects of funding bids, monitoring and future development.

· Working with the wider leadership team on program expansion alongside the organisational major developments

Safeguarding:

· Take the lead on organisational safeguarding:

o Overseeing incidents and supporting staff to complete actions

o Ensuring incident reports completed

o Completing monitoring and reporting as required

· Facilitate internal safeguarding training

· Report into the strategic safeguarding lead on any high-level incidents

· Attend the Safeguarding Sub Committee meeting

Communications and Reporting:

· Work with the Head of Communications and CEO to design an ongoing internal communications plan to ensure staff and volunteers are up to date with plans, development and activities

· In collaboration with the Communications Team, ensure there is continuous engagement with external audiences

· With the Communications Team build a schedule of promotional activity

· Work with other Fareshare network partners  share and learn best practice across the network

· Support the fundraising team to develop future funding proposals and reports

· Collate reports from each team to submit to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and/or Board of Trustees covering all Volunteer and Employability activities, plans and developments

Systems, Policies & Processes:

· Working with the Volunteer Managers, CEO and Wider Senior Leadership Team (WSLT) to develop/update the Volunteer and Farechance Handbooks and other key documentation

· Lead the review and development of policies, processes and procedures specific to Volunteering and Employability

· Support consistent practices and procedures across the south west as well as sharing best practice

· Lead on the FSSW relationship with FareShare UK (FSUK) regarding volunteering, employability, and safeguarding, including policies, best practice, innovations, and systems

· Support the development of the FSSW Corporate Volunteering Policy

· Support the implementation of new systems for the recruitment, rota and monitoring of both programmes

· Identify, monitor, and action specific needs and risks of two programmes, regularly updating the risk register; sign-off risk assessments to ensure safety in the workplace

· Lead on and support the development of a MEL (monitoring, evaluating and learning) framework of primary data collected from IT systems to measure, analyse and report on impact
