Room to Heal is a human rights charity and therapeutic community based in London. Our mission is to support people who have survived or witnessed torture and organised violence to rebuild their lives in exile, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance. About the role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team and lead our fundraising efforts. This is a key role in ensuring we have the resources to continue providing vital support to survivors of torture and human rights violations. As the Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, building relationships with key donors, and exceeding fundraising goals. We are predominantly funded by Trusts and Foundations and you will play a very important role in maintaining and expanding this funder base, as well as helping Room to Heal to diversify our income streams.

The Senior People Partner’s role is to manage, supervise and support employee relations, employee wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, overseeing the employee life cycle. Key responsibilities involve managing a direct caseload of complex employee relations cases, including leading on liaison with ACAS, external investigators, and legal advisors, and preparing for and attending Employment Tribunals. The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing an HR case work portfolio, which includes conducting discipline and grievance investigations, hearings and appeals, and ACAS Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunals, as well as overseeing attendance and performance management processes. Established success in coaching managers and leaders on various HR matters is essential to this role, empowering them to manage risk, resolve conflict, support their team members to excel at work, and foster cohesion and trust within a hybrid workforce. The postholder will have experience and interest in managing employee wellbeing and diversity and inclusion initiatives; be CIPD qualified; have excellent and adaptable organisation, communication and interpersonal skills; and will enjoy working with a variety of people, with a strong ability to listen effectively.

About you

Key Purpose:
Engage with staff and volunteers at a local and national level across RABI as well as with key external stakeholders and partners to influence compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. Role Summary
As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Leadership, strategy & planning
1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.
2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.
3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.
4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.
Research
5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.
6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.
7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.
8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.
Public Affairs
9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

We are currently seeking two dynamic Practitioners to join our Young People’s service (Yuva) in Surrey, working directly with young people using abuse and violence and their families. This role works within the Yuva team to develop and deliver intervention and safety programmes to families affected by Child to Parent Violence and Young People’s Intimate Partner Violence.
Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years.
This role requires a robust and detailed understanding and experience of working with adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse and trauma, and the impacts of these on young people’s development. You will also need a good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, and on the parent-child relationship. Additionally, you will have:
- Experience of providing direct work with young people and their parents/carers, working flexibly but robustly and supportively, responding to challenging or harmful behaviour to facilitate change.
- Experience of providing structured one-to-one and/or group-work counselling or behavioural change interventions, and of working with both children and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator interventions working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 30 years.
In your role you will need an excellent understanding of the nature of domestic abuse/violence and its effects on women and children. You will have relevant experience of providing one-to-one and/or group-work behavioural change interventions, responding robustly and supportively to challenging and harmful behaviour with adults from diverse backgrounds to reduce risk and facilitate change. You will pro-actively engage those using abuse, conduct interviews to assess risk and suitability for intervention, and coordinate with relevant professional partners to increase safety to victims and children. Day to day, you will work flexibly across a number of locations, including regular days working co-located within Local Authority Children and Families Services, Offender Management services, Substance Misuse services, Health services or other relevant or referring services. In this rewarding role you will also provide specialist DA support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training delivery.

About this job
Please note this is a part-time role 3 days/or 21 hours per week (Fridays must be worked but the other 2 days per week are flexible). The role is initially for an 18 months fixed term contract.
As a key member of our Services and Support team, you’ll be working with MS Society volunteer groups that provide transport services to their members and/or own property. You’ll also be supporting members of the Customer Services team to help them fulfill their health and safety responsibilities within each of the MS Society’s offices. This role includes travel across the UK to provide support and/ or training as required.
You’ll be working with our external auditors to manage the audit process, monitor and record compliance with the ‘MS Society Health and Safety risk management framework’ on property and transport and ensure materials in the framework are consistently and effectively used.
We’re looking for the successful candidate to have:
- A NEBOSH National General Certificate
- Trained Display Screen Assessment Assessor
- Be a Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
- Experience of working with in house Health and Safety systems that cover risk areas associated with a volunteer group network.
- Experience of working with volunteers.
- An in-depth up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practices, particularly as these relate to the voluntary sector.
- Experience of transport for people of all abilities run by the voluntary sector with a working knowledge of the related legislation.
- A working knowledge of the management of properties run by the voluntary sector.
- A working knowledge of DSE requirements and how to assess and apply them in a practical way.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, inspection and auditing procedures.
